No, No…No panic.  Yes…this is a blog about the talented Clay Aiken.

But for some reason, this musical came into my mind when I was trying to decide what to write about today

…and it wouldn’t go away…so…

Sunday In The Park With George is a Broadway musical written by the talented Stephen Sondheim.

Inspired by the painting,  A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat, Sunday in the Park with George, merges past and present into beautiful, poignant truths about life, love and the creation of art.

The Broadway production of the show opened in 1984.  The musical won the 1985 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, two Tony Awards, and many Drama Desk Awards.

I have to admit that I have never seen the live show, but I have heard the music many times.  My favorite recording is the original Broadway production starring Mandy Patinkin and Bernadette Peters.  The orchestration is absolutely beautiful!

So… CANN SCHOOL is almost over and we are back to Clay Aiken.  How is  the show related to Clay???  Well…I told you!!  The title of the show kept running through my mind and I had to find a way to work it out…

Even if it is a silly relationship!!  Don’t laugh…

It is Sunday and Clay has spent many “Days In The Park”.

  1. Loved your Blog about The Park and working Clay into it! The pictures are all really great and very interesting. I remember another park he visited while working in the Pa. event – Kennywood Park. I grew up in Pa. and that park holds many wonderful memories for me and now even more with Clay’s visit there!

  2. I grew up near Kennywood Park and worked as a ride operator in Kiddyland for 3 summers. Here in Columbus, OH there is a park that has the shrubbery clipped to look just like this photo. They even have a small lake to complete the illusion.
