Paws in the Park

 

Paws in the Park is one of the largest dog events in the Charlotte area.

Our annual event, features Dog Rescue Groups and Shelters with dogs available for adoption,
Food Trucks, Arts/Crafts and Business Vendors, Blessing of the Animals, Photo Booth, Kids Playground, Dog Contests at noon and Award-Winning Entertainment.

Family Fun & Entertainment

Therapy Dog Demos, Blessing of the Animals, Dog Contests, Photo Booth, Circus Stella, and Chairmen of the Board!

Circus Stella will be performing 3 shows. 11am, 12:30pm & 2pm
All events are subject to change.

Chairmen of the Board will be performing from approx. 1-3pm

Animal Rescue & Adoptions

We will have Dog Rescue Groups/ Animal Shelters with fundraising items and dogs available for adoption.
(We do not allow onsite adoptions. Each rescue/shelter has their own application process)

Rescue Row is down behind the stage. The rescues & shelters have adoptable dogs and fundraising items.

Dog Contests at Noon (Trophies & Cash Prizes)

  1. Smallest Dog (1 year old & up)

  2. Largest Dog (Measured around chest/waist)

  3. Best Dog Trick

  4. Best Dressed Female

  5. Best Dressed Male

  6. Best Themed Group (Min of 2 dogs/max of 5 dogs per group)


Our dog contests are emceed by WBTV’s Rachel Coulter
Dog contests are FREE to enter, sign up is required by 11:30am at Charlotte Black Dogs Tent.

We have a maximum limit of 15 entries in each category.

Back by popular demand- North Carolina’s Circus Stella.

This is a FREE Family Event!
Please come early and stay ALL Day!
You are welcome to bring a blanket or chair for the grass in front of the stage.
(All well behaved dogs are welcome.)

Come see the Dogs of the Charlotte Fire Dept. and the CLT Canine Crew as they demonstrate what they do.

Can I bring my dog?

YES,
Please, make sure your dog is up to date on all shots and is friendly toward people and other dogs.

Please, dogs must be on a leash at all times.
Please, for safety, no retractable leashes, if you have one, you must keep it short at all times.
Please pick up after your dog.

Where do I park?

Parking in the Park is reserved for vendors and has limited handicap accessible parking.

There is plenty of street parking near Pineville Lake Park on Lakeview Drive, The Hut 413 Johnston Drive, Pineville Elementary School 204 Lowery Street, Pineville Memorial Ball Park 226 Lowery Street and a short walk from downtown Pineville, near Old Town Office on 105 Dover Street.

Please do not park in no parking areas, in front of driveways and fire hydrants.

Will there be Food Trucks?

We will have a variety reasonably priced food options.

We encourage you to come early and stay all day.

Stop by Charlotte Black Dogs Photo Booth and take a photo of your pet for $10. ALL donations benefit “Paws in the Park”.

“Paws in the Park” 2024 is dedicated to
McGrady and his Fabulous McGrady and Friends Foundation. Feel free to bring unopened dog food/ treats or financial donations to be distributed to our rural shelter partners.
(Checks can be made out to Fabulous McGrady and Friends Foundation— they are a 501c3)

How can I sign up to be a sponsor or vendor?

Sponsor & vendor opportunities are closed for 2024’s event.

What time are the shows?

ALL Entertainment is FREE.
Times/events are subject to change.

10am: Event starts with DJ Darin Page Henley
10:30-11am: Dogs of the Charlotte Fire Dept & CLT Canine Crew at stage.
11am: Fabulous McGrady & Friends Foundation at stage
11am: Circus Stella on hill
11:30am: Blessing of the Animals at stage with Pineville United Methodist Church.
Noon: Dog Contests emceed by WBTV’s Rachel Coulter at stage
12:30pm: Circus Stella on hill
1-3pm: Chairmen of the Board at stage
2pm: Circus Stella on hill

How do I sign up for the dog contests?

Dog contests are FREE to enter, however, you must sign up by 11:30am at the Charlotte Black Dogs Tent which is located near the main entrance.

Due to the popularity of our contests, we can only allow you to sign up your dog in one category.

PLEASE assemble at stage at 11:45am.
Dog Contests start promptly at Noon- Trophies & cash prizes. Audience is judging!

1. Smallest Dog (1 year old & up)

3. Best Dressed Female
4. Best Dressed Male
5. Best Dog Trick
6. Best Themed Group of Dogs (min. 2 dogs /max. 5 dogs in each group)

Unsafe Weather Policy:

We cannot control severe weather.
If unsafe weather is forecasted prior to our event or develops during our event, we will have to cancel or end early so that everyone stays safe.
Severe Weather could be thunderstorms, torrential rains with no signs of stopping, high wind gusts, hurricane or other weather conditions that would make our event unsafe for all involved.
Unfortunately, if we have to cancel ” Paws in the Park”, for any reason, we are not able to do a rain date.
