danny brown's new single cured my depression (10/18/2023)

i kid; that depression been here and stays here. but it does help me remember that, sometimes, good stuff happens.

anyways, i got word the other day that Danny Brown was due to drop his next album, Quaranta, on Nov. 17 (digital) / Jan. 19 (physical), and i was ready. a few months ago i started making a Danny Brown playlist with my favorite songs from his career—didn't realize i was making it in anticipation for the album that The Alchemist produced. or that it would be a "spiritual book-end" to his 2011 opus XXX. yeah. it's that kind of party.

pre-orders for Quaranta are available now; you can get a t-shirt and stuff. peep the video for "Tantor" below.

DJ Earl Puts His Spin on Danny Brown's "Lie 4"

For those who don't remember, when the deluxe edition of Danny Brown's XXX hit vinyl, it was released with a bonus 7" featuring four acapellas from the album. That meant that nimble diggers have heard their share of "Lie 4" remixes, but they ain't hitting like DJ Earl's. The TEKLIFE repper dropped his frantic, pulsating remix, which has been causing quite a stir during recent live sets of his. He's only got it up for a limited time (aka however long it takes for SoundCloud to spot it), so grab the free download ASAP.

For more from Earl, hit up his Bandcamp page, and if you're wondering what Danny would sound like on an original footwork track, check out this cut he did with DJ Rashad and DJ Spinn.

Danny Brown & Clams Casino - "Worth It"

I'd been in the mood for new Danny Brown for a minute, and when I saw him say he had new material with Clams Casino on the way, I was into it. Didn't realize it was going to drop so soon, though. Too turnt for a Monday.

Danny Brown vs. Giraffage "Grown Up (Disc Jockey Nappy Refix)"

You'd laugh if I told you how quickly this one got turned around. Fools Gold has some contest with the "Grown Up" acapella going down. Nappy cooked this with the QUICKNESS. Lovin' it.

Evil Nine ft. Danny Brown "Black Brad Pitt"

After hitting Philly for the Mad Decent Block Party this past Saturday, I've single handedly seen crowds who probably wouldn't fuck with 808 heavy shit 7, 8 years ago go absolutely dumb for shit like this. I'm not mad at all, I like fat beats, and the Trap sound is where it's at. Danny Brown knows the shit, and creeps onto the best tracks, doing his own brand of nignorance to these future beats. This collab with Evil Nine is set to drop on Bromance Records, which is ran by Brodinski. Shit just makes sense. I expect the Polo-shirt rocking Frat crowd will be spitting these lyrics to their favorite sorority sisters by the end of next week.

Danny Brown x araabMUZIK "Molly Ringwald"

You should've already seen the BTS on the making of this track, and overnight YoursTru.ly threw up a preview of this one, and it's as dope as you'd think it'd be. This is of course their contribution to the "Songs from Scratch" 7", which is limited edition via Love Letters Ink and features Joey Bada$$'s "Daily Routine" on the flip. Nasty. I'd only wish that Danny and araab would make more music together. This is disgustingly perfect.
