With the introduction of the Ram 1500 REV, Ram becomes the last of the big three truck makers to unveil an all-electric complement to its bread-and-butter full-size truck. It’s scheduled to go on sale toward the end of 2024 as a 2025 model.

2025 Ram 1500 REV Pricing

We expect the Ram 1500 REV to start around $58,000. For reference, the electric Ford F-150 Lightning currently starts at $59,974. And like the Lightning Platinum, a fully loaded Ram 1500 REV Tungsten is sure to top $100,000.

When Does the Ram 1500 REV Come Out?

The Ram 1500 REV is scheduled to go on sale toward the end of 2024. It’s available for reservation now. It was unveiled in February — via a Super Bowl commercial — a month after Ram unveiled a much more radical electric truck concept.

Range and Charging

The Ram 1500 REV has a targeted maximum range of up to 500 miles. If it hits that lofty goal, it would be the longest-range electric pickup in its class. The standard battery pack has a targeted range of 350 miles.

For reference, a $59,974 F-150 Lightning offers 240 miles of range, with 320 miles available starting at closer to $64,000. Chevrolet says it will offer a version of the Silverado EV with closer to 400 miles of range.

As for charging, the Ram 1500 REV can add up to 110 miles of range in approximately 10 minutes with 800-volt DC fast charging at up to 350 kW. This claim applies to both battery pack options. It’s a safe bet that the Ram will be able to absorb almost a full charge overnight plugged into a 240V outlet at home.

For comparison, the F-150 Lightning can add up to 208 miles of range in 40 minutes with a 150kW+ DC public fast charger.

Towing and Hauling

The Ram 1500 REV claims up to 14,000 pounds of towing and 2,700 pounds of payload capacity. Both of those numbers beat the Ford F-150 Lightning, and even the gas-powered Ram 1500. However, towing tends to have a big impact on range for EVs, and how significant that impact will be on the electric Ram remains to be seen.

Driving the 2025 Ram 1500 REV

Ram claims that the Ram 1500 REV will have class-leading ride and handling. Of course, that’s a subjective claim, but it does have some features that may help back that up.

Standard air suspension with adaptive damping should make for a smooth and comfortable ride, while the electric powertrain will likely deliver effortless acceleration. We can say confidently that it will have a distinctly different driving experience than a gas or diesel-powered Ram, which is good if you want a pickup truck that drives like a luxury performance car.

The Ram 1500 REV will also debut an available hands-free, semi-autonomous driving system similar to GM’s Super Cruise and Ford’s BlueCruise. We also expect to see all of the basic driver assistance features we’ve come to expect in EVs, such as automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring.

Interior Comfort

The interior of the 2025 Ram 1500 REV

The interior details we have on the Ram 1500 REV apply to the top Tungsten trim. The Tungsten model will go toe-to-toe with the Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum for luxury electric truck supremacy.

We like what we see in the Ram 1500 REV Tungsten. There’s a family resemblance to a loaded gas-powered Ram 1500 Limited, but with a unique, high-tech personality. The one we’ve seen has an Indigo and Sea Salt interior color scheme, premium quilted leather seating, massaging front seats, a suede-wrapped headliner, and metal pedals.

On the tech front, it has a Uconnect 5 infotainment system with a massive 14.5-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and a 10.25-inch front passenger screen like the one available in high-end Jeep SUVs. Audio comes from a deluxe Klipsch Reference Premier unit with 23 speakers.

Overall, the REV interior is like an evolution of current Ram truck interiors, which are arguably the richest in the segment.

Exterior Styling

If you were running the show, would you design your first electric truck to resemble your existing trucks, like the Ford F-150 Lightning, or to more clearly announce itself as something different, like the Chevy Silverado EV?

Each is a valid approach, with Ram betting on familiarity with the 1500 REV. We think it looks great. And yes, there’s a cavernous frunk under the hood with a class-leading 15 cubic feet of volume, in addition to RamBox storage in the side of the bed.

The only 2025 Ram 1500 REV we’ve seen so far is the range-topping Tungsten model. However, this won’t just be an expensive luxury vehicle. There will be a full Ram 1500 REV lineup not too different from the regular Ram 1500. It will include familiar trim levels like Tradesman, Big Horn (Lone Star if you’re in Texas), Laramie, and Limited.

Warranty

Ram vehicles are covered by a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty and 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain protection. But the Ram 1500 REV is sure to include extended coverage for its battery, motors, and related electric components. This will last at least eight years or 100,000 miles.

Engine & Transmission

Every Ram 1500 REV will have a dual-motor powertrain and all-wheel drive. You get a choice of a standard battery or a long-range battery, both of which boast impressive range estimates from Ram. Ram also estimates exciting performance numbers, presumably from a high-output version of the truck with the bigger battery pack.

Standard-range battery
168 kWh battery
Estimated range: Up to 350 miles

Long-range battery
229 kWh battery
Estimated up to 654 horsepower
Estimated up to 620 lb-ft of torque
Estimated range: Up to 500 miles

KBB Vehicle Review and Rating Methodology

Our Expert Ratings come from hours of both driving and number crunching to make sure that you choose the best car for you. We comprehensively experience and analyze every new SUV, car, truck, or minivan for sale in the U.S. and compare it to its competitors. When all that dust settles, we have our ratings.

We require new ratings every time an all-new vehicle or a new generation of an existing vehicle comes out. Additionally, we reassess those ratings when a new-generation vehicle receives a mid-cycle refresh — basically, sprucing up a car in the middle of its product cycle (typically, around the 2-3 years mark) with a minor facelift, often with updates to features and technology.

Rather than pulling random numbers out of the air or off some meaningless checklist, KBB’s editors rank a vehicle to where it belongs in its class. Before any car earns its KBB rating, it must prove itself to be better (or worse) than the other cars it’s competing against as it tries to get you to spend your money buying or leasing.

Our editors drive and live with a given vehicle. We ask all the right questions about the interior, the exterior, the engine and powertrain, the ride and handling, the features, the comfort, and of course, about the price. Does it serve the purpose for which it was built? (Whether that purpose is commuting efficiently to and from work in the city, keeping your family safe, making you feel like you’ve made it to the top — or that you’re on your way — or making you feel like you’ve finally found just the right partner for your lifestyle.)

We take each vehicle we test through the mundane — parking, lane-changing, backing up, cargo space and loading — as well as the essential — acceleration, braking, handling, interior quiet and comfort, build quality, materials quality, reliability.
