Menorat HaMaor with the Nefesh Yehuda commentary. Amsterdam, [1722]. Most impressive copy in an original binding.
One of the fundamental Jewish Mussar books which became known to all Jews and was widely circulated – Sefer Menorat HaMaor by Rabbi Yitzchak Abuhav, with the Nefesh Yehuda commentary by Rabbi Moshe Frankfurter of Amsterdam.

At the beginning of the book, there are two title pages. The first is a copper-engraved illustrated one with the burning bush and the figures of Moshe Rabbeinu holding the staff and Aharon lighting the Menorah.

It is told that HaGra favored this book and the Chatam Sofer used to study it with his daughters.

Rabbi Moshe Frankfurt [1672-1762]: one of the Dayanim of Amsterdam, the Chatam Sofer's old uncle. Was also renowned for his work on the Mechilta, Zeh Yenachamenu, the Kohelet Moshe Mikra'ot Gedolot and Ba'er Heitev on Choshen Mishpat. His Nefesh Yehuda commentary was the first work he published when he was 28 years old.

Amsterdam, [1722].
