Compelling work on astrology. A fundamental resource for calculating the Jewish calendar, and calculating Tekufot (solstices) and Moldot (New moons). Sefer Yesod.
Illustrated title page depicting the solar and zodiac system, along with Moshe and Aharon.
Numerous illustrations and tables appear throughout the book.
The book includes wheels (circular charts) to calculate celestial systems. A large wheel is printed on a separate leaf that was appended to the book, (between leaves 36-37).
The Jewish calendar is calculated according to both the solar and lunar system. The months are calculated according to the moon, and the year according to the sun. Synthesizing these two systems is a matter of great astronomical interest.
The Rambam dedicates an entire section in Mishna Torah to this topic, which he counts as one of the Positive Commandments.
