Amudei Golah - SaMak. Cremona 1556. Sefer Yesod.

First Hebrew Book Printed in Cremona. Second Edition With Corrections, Glosses, Addendums and Erasures.

Amudei Golah is referred to as Sefer Mitzvot Katan – SaMaK. Authored by Rabbi Moshe of Corbeil, one of the French Ba’alei Tosafot of 13th Century, and son-in-law of Rabbi Yechiel of Paris.

This edition’s version differs to that of the Constantinople, c.1510 version. It also includes glosses, addendums and erasures.
Owners’ signature on title page in Sephardi handwriting: “Nissim…?”

Amudei Golah – Sefer Mitzvot Katan (SaMaK) was authored for the unlearned population. It lists the relevant commandments at that time including parables, ethics and accompanying tales. The book’s structure is based on Rabbi Moshe of Couci’s composition, SaMaG, Sefer Mitzvot Gadol. A lengthy Halachic debate is erased. The book is divided into 7 components corresponding to the days of the week. It attained great popularity, and despite being geared for the simple folk, many glosses were penned on it and it morphed into a fundamental Halachic resource.
