Lightfoot lost in her bid for a second term, trailing former public schools executive Paul Vallas and Brandon Johnson, a county board commissioner, both of whom advance to a runoff election on April 4.

Chicago Democratic Mayor Lori Lightfoot has conceded defeat in her reelection bid after failing to qualify for the runoff.
“Obviously we didn’t win the election today, but I stand here with my head held high,” she said Tuesday night, per NBC News.
Chicago mayoral candidates Paul Vallas and Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson are projected to advance to the April runoff election, according to the New York Times.
Lightfoot’s tenure was marred by significant crime concerns, an issue that stood at the forefront of the mayor’s race. Vallas, in particular, campaigned on addressing the city’s crime levels and earned the support of
Vallas claimed 34.9% of the vote in a nine-way race while Johnson claimed 20.2%. Lightfoot trailed in third place with 16.4% of the vote.
Democratic Illinois Rep. Jesús García holds fourth place with 13.9% of the vote.
Chicago’s elections are officially nonpartisan, though candidates typically align with one of the major parties and the city’s last Republican mayor left office in 1931.

Just a question: Why is it, that on the home page as the headlines are shown, “ok” is taken out of the capsuled description? For example, “crooked” is shown as “croed.”

‘Chicago’s mayor and aldermen agree that written tests related to job qualifications such as command of basic English communication skills, reading comprehension, math skills, background checks and mental evaluations discriminate against black people.
The proof of that, they say, is the fact that black people fail so many of them so often.’
Chicago was much safer and had a school system nationally recognized as “Superior” when Al Capone ran the city.

It is good that beetlejuice has lost as it was Incompetent and Unqualified and should have never been
in the position as mayor. It probably does not matter who is the mayor of Chicago, as sincerely doubt that the weekend shooting sprees and the crime will cease.

The real shame is two-fold: firstly, a politician so far from reality that it does not know how useless yet damaging it is as to attempt a second term; and secondly, American citizens who somehow can still vote for a racist politician who has already destroyed them, their city and their children’s tomorrow. Situations as these caused great damage to society in the past, and will present themselves again. There are, yes, many other Lightfoot’s out there, attracted by the greenish beam called money.

”She” always screamed about being treated equally as a black lesbian woman in America today and when she/her/they was actually treated equally she screamed even louder that it was all because she/her/they/whatever is a black woman in America.
I lost ALL respect for the people of the Windy City by putting her in such a High Office but now I can take that back again.
