China calls for peace talks, cease-fire between Russia and Ukraine

On the eve of the first anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, China has called for a cease-fire between the two sides and for peace talks to commence as part of a 12-point plan to end the war.
Story continues below advertisementChina’s Foreign Ministry revealed the plan on Friday, Beijing time, and also called for the end of Western sanctions on Russia, measures to ensure nuclear facilities, humanitarian corridors for civilians to flee the conflict and a process to ensure the continuation of grain exports.
“All parties should support Russia and Ukraine in working in the same direction and resuming direct dialogue as quickly as possible,” the paper released on China’s Foreign Ministry’s website stated.
In the proposal, China indicated its opposition to the use of nuclear weapons in the conflict, as well as the threat of deploying them.
“Nuclear weapons must not be used and nuclear wars must not be fought. The threat or use of nuclear weapons should be opposed,” the paper said.
China also urged that civilians be protected and for international law to be followed.
“Parties to the conflict should strictly abide by international humanitarian law, avoid attacking civilians or civilian facilities,” it said.
According to the United Nations human rights office, at least 8,000 non-combatants have been confirmed killed in the war in Ukraine and more than 13,000 have been injured.
Russia has also launched attacks against more than 250 Ukrainian hospitals since its Feb. 24, 2022, invasion, leaving nearly one in 10 Ukrainian hospitals damaged, according to a recent analysis by five different non-governmental organizations.

REUTERSDespite the peace proposal, US officials have not ruled out that China could be preparing to provide lethal military aid to Russia.
Earlier this month, US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman said at an event at the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC, that the US has “growing concern” about the Chinese-Russian partnership.
“My assessment is the PRC [People’s Republic of China] is trying to both increase its standing in the international community by saying that it’s willing to mediate and help bring this horrifying invasion to an end. And at the same time, they are committed to their no-limits partnership with Russia,” Sherman said.
“And we have, certainly, concern and growing concern about that partnership and the PRC’s support for this invasion,” she added.
Chinese state-controlled firms have sold non-lethal drones and other equipment to both Russia and Ukraine since the start of the conflict.
China abstained Thursday when the United Nations General Assembly voted on a nonbinding resolution calling for Russia to end hostilities in Ukraine and withdraw from the former Soviet state.
After releasing the peace plan, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs vowed Friday that the PRC will “continue to play a constructive role” in the resumption of peace talks, but it did not elaborate as to how.
Top Chinese diplomat Wang Yi met on Wednesday with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow.

$70 Billion dollars a year to Ukraine is less than 1% of our GDP; and 5% of our defense budget. But Geller Report, Tucker, and others make it sound like it’s 100% to create a false urgency by gaslighting the numbers.
They need to create a false sense of urgency so they can DEFUND Ukraine, so that Russia might win. This is their own BDS movement.

Russia needs a ceasefire because because they loose close to 1000 men per day and are behind their recruitment capacity. Giving Russia a break at this point would be a huge mistake.

Let’s say for argument’s sake: F-k Ukraine. Let them be under Russian rule
Then will come Poland
Then Latvia, or Hungary or Romania.
Moldova would be assured 110%

The fact is that the $100B would be chump change compared to the cost of confronting Russia already in possession of Ukraine, and Moldova, and appearing on 4 new NATO borders which will automatically require a massive US deployment to the area that may have to last 45 years as it did during the cold war.
That’s if no fighting occurs.
Abandoning Europe to Russia is also an option but what will the US have as a market for its goods without Europe? That is America’s biggest and most reliable market. The biggest market in the world.
The loss of which (while China is also becoming uncoupled) would plunge the USA into the 3rd world.

When they tell me that social security will be insolvent in 10 years and they need to raise taxes…again to help fund it, more money to Ukraine pisses me off. I have had my money stolen by the US government for 45 years for SS. It infuriates me to see them send this kind of money to Ukraine for a proxy war with Russia and then tell me they need to raise my taxes. I wonder how much of this money is coming back to our corrupt politicians. We do know that top Ukrainian officials are buying luxury cars and homes. Where did money come from? Especially since Ukraine needs it so badly to fight Putin.

They took Azov which won 2% of the vote and made it sound like it was 100%. And omitted that Zelensky, a Jewish man, won 70% of the vote.

Maybe if the first 3 funding packages were not even required to give an accounting of the money – the weapons – or where (literally) in the world the money will be spent. That is what got a lot of conservatives jacked up. No one is a Putin “shill” just as Trump wasn’t.
I fear NOW (since we are running out of Ukes to fight the war) it is too late to defeat Russia short of WWIII no matter how much money and weapons we send.
Biden has been a day (3 moths), late and a dollar short the whole time. I want the Ukes to win but that time may have passed. If Biden had acted we could have seriously hurt Putin by now.

We can trust the Chinese…
After Covid and the rest of it..
The small print is that they are in the process of delivering 100 suicide drones to Russia (after Iran’s factory was hit ) that are purposed to kill civilians.
Any suggestion of peace should be considered and Ukraine said that it will study it and appreciated the Chinese offer.
What was Russia’s response?

Not another dime to Ukraine. I seem to remember John McCain lurking around in Ukraine stirring up trouble a few years ago. Maybe he was visiting one of the six biowarfare labs the US operated there. International terrorist and war criminal, Joe Biden, no doubt approved. Old Nord Stream Joe’s act of war was in the news for, what, one day then disappeared? Given the facts, I don’t blame Putin’s police action into Ukraine any more than I would have blamed Kennedy for his actions in the Cuban Missile Crisis.

They’ve been helping Syria with it’s chemical weapons at Israel’s doorstep for years.
Russia tried to assassinate by poisoning the Ukrainian presidential candidate in 2004. This is so Putin’s puppet might win. The same puppet the Ukrainians ousted a 2nd time in 2014.

The Chinese and the Russians are full of shit! The Chinese have no plan or reason to end this conflict diplomatically! Not when they are supplying Russian with arms! Plus this conflict helps make a distraction while they are planning to invade Taiwan!

Instead of giving Ukraine all this money for weapons and armor we should have just given them the stuff that was left at the Kandahar airbase instead of leaving it for the Taliban.
