Muslim Students Force Minnesota College to Close Exhibition of Iranian-American Artists

Just like the Danish cartoons. You didn’t think it would end there, did you? On the contrary, once the West caved on that, it opened the floodgates to oppression and censorship.

Another shameful, cowardly, crushing capitulation by an American university. One exhibit was a neon sign reading “Woman, Life, Freedom” in English and Persian. It has become a slogan in recent protests in Iran against the treatment of women.

Art like “piss Christ” is revered by these same cretins. When the target is Christianity, we are admonished and told we have an obligation to “challenge the public.” When the target is Islam, it’s all about respecting religious faith. As Tim Blair said, Islam has earned that “respect” at the point of a gun.

Universities are no longer polestars of intellectual thought and diversity of opinion. On the contrary, they are cesspools of indoctination, propaganda and the destruction of critical thinking.

Muslim students force Minnesota college to close exhibition of Iranian-American artists

By: West Post, February 15, 2023:

Macalester College in St Paul covered a gallery with black curtains after Muslim students contained indecent depictions of women in niqabs. A few days later, it reopened with frosted glass to prevent offended students from accidentally viewing the art

A Minnesota college temporarily shut down an exhibit showing veiled women in various suggestive poses after some Muslim students were offended by the art.

The exhibition at Macalester College in St. Paul was organized by Iranian-American artist Taravat Talepasand, 44, whose work challenges Islamic conservatism and the oppression of women.

Items on display included drawings of women in niqabs and heels lifting up their robes to reveal underwear, as well as porcelain sculptures of similar women with huge exposed breasts.

The exhibition opened on Jan. 27, but the art was quickly covered with black curtains after a group of students signed a petition suggesting Talepasand’s work causes “deep pain” and “enduring harm,” the reported Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression.

The gallery remained covered for a weekend before reopening with a contents warning and frosted glass on some windows to prevent offended students or others from viewing the art without first being made aware of its contents.

Islamism. The other threat.
We also have mass shootings done by lone-wolf terrorists. not religious based, but also terrorists.

Where is the Biden FBI & DHS? Targeting political opponents instead of intercepting terrorists.

Where’s the conservative opposition? It doesn’t seem to be pressuring the GOP in any way–not even at the grass roots. Too preoccupied pimping for Putin and Stalinism, most likely.

Better than pimping for a drug addicted totalitarian despot, isn’t it?

OK, most art I have never understood, but isn’t stirring emotions in the viewer one of the reasons for art? Looks like it worked.

Don’t supply logic to these fools, it only enrages them.

Seems we’re no longer the “Home of the brave”, and Muslims like it like that.

A much easier and certainly correct way should be to toss all the muslims out of , schools, the universities and all other educational institutions.

Better to round up all of the mohammedans and have them hanged by the neck until dead.

As I’ve said, it’s a contest as to who is the most aggressively supremacist: LGBTQ’s or Muslims. As to the former: Isn’t there at least one politician who wants to make Minnesota a sanctuary state for surgically-produced freaks/mutants euphemistically referred to as “transgender people”?

Frankly, as sappy and ‘sensitive’ as Westerners have been groomed to become I can’t see how it’s possible to get out of this bind. Things are gonna have to get far worse and by then it might be too late.

How stupid they are, how does anbody ‘accidently’ look at something. If you do not want to see something do not look at it
Just do not visit the gallery and there will be no problem. plus how can anybody see through frosted glass?

If these “muslim” students don’t want to see the display …… they do not have to go there and see it.
They DO NOT, however, have anything to say about the “Free Speech” of anyone else, guaranteed by the Constitution.

Don’t stay in America if you are offended by OUR FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS. In Fact, GET THE HELL OUT

What is this, Amerikanistan? There is no reason to allow religious or other types of zealots to dictate to the US Institutions of Education to bend over and allow a small dissident minority to make demands on their displays, with especial attention to the matter that the display is truthful and unbiased. There is no need to close the display. This is ART, and it is part of the First Amendment Protection of Free Speech. The administrator that is allowing this closure should be reprimanded, admonished, or other method intended to instill the proper respect for the Rights of the citizens of this nation.
