MOSCOW (Reuters) -The Kremlin said on Thursday the world should know the truth about who sabotaged the Nord Stream gas pipelines and that those responsible should be punished after an investigative journalist said U.S. divers blew them up at the behest of the White House.

Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist Seymour Hersh cited an unidentified source as saying that U.S. navy divers had destroyed the pipelines with explosives on the orders of President Joe Biden.

WASHINGTON — Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh has alleged US Navy divers laid bombs that destroyed the Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline under the Baltic Sea last September, drawing a denial from the Pentagon Wednesday.
Hersh, who scooped journalism’s top award more than five decades ago for exposing the My Lai massacre of Vietnamese civilians by US troops in 1968, cited an unnamed source in reporting on Substack that Americans planted remotely triggered explosives that wrecked three of the four pipelines built to carry natural gas from Russia to Europe.
Hersh, 85, went on to claim that the Navy conducted the operation under the cover of a NATO maritime exercise, BALTOPS 22.
In a short statement, Pentagon spokesman Marine Corps Lt. Col. Garron J. Garn told The Post “the United States was not involved in the Nord Stream explosion,” reiterating the Defense Department’s response to the same question in October.
Swedish officials suspected the blasts were the result of “gross sabotage,” and some Western officials were quick to blame the attacks on Moscow as it blocked gas supplies to Europe in response to sanctions over last year’s invasion of Ukraine.
“These are deliberate actions, not an accident,” Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said at the time. “The situation is as serious as it gets.”
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in response to Hersh’s report that Moscow has “repeatedly expressed” its belief that the US and NATO were involved in the explosions.
Prior to the invasion, President Biden had threatened that the Nord Stream 2 project connecting Russia and Germany would not move forward if an attack took place, causing some to suspect US involvement when the pipelines exploded seven months later.
“If Russia invades — that means tanks or troops crossing the border of Ukraine, again — then there will be no longer a Nord Stream 2,” Biden said on Feb. 7, 2022. “We will bring an end to it.”
While Germany initially resisted canceling the project, it halted the pipeline’s certification two days before the Russian invasion in a last-ditch effort to prevent the war.
Hersh’s report suggested Biden ordered the explosions to stop Russian President Vladimir Putin from “weaponiz[ing] natural gas for his political and territorial ambitions,” as Germany — and the rest of Europe — relied heavily on Russia for natural gas.
Without the pipelines, Europe would be forced to end its reliance on Moscow, starving Russia of billions of dollars that could have been contributed to its war effort, the report alleged.

The little detail the communist Israel hater, Maté is omitting is that one of Russia’s demands ahead of the invasion was that Nato kick out all members that joined aftter 1997.
Of course Nato refused that.
Otherwise it would be a return to the cold war order where Russia owns 1/3 of Europe. A return of the USSR.
Which is what the Soviet nostalgists like Mate or Tulsi or Roger Waters want .
They don’t say it out loud but they say it with subtext all the time.
Bennet had no deal . He got great concessions from both sides but at a time when a thin and unsupported Russian force was within 15 miles of Kiev. To cease fire in that condition would have been suicide for Ukraine.
Besides putin lies .
The reason there’s such unity in the West where even France is hawkish and even Germany is arming is because putin lied to every leader visiting him before the war.
Recall the peace blitz ahead of the invasion.
Macron, Orban, Schultz, shuttled to Moscow and were assured that there will be no invasion
Even Zelensky was assured of the same.
Now stand down to a guy who just lied to the world and let him resupply and regroup in his Hudna .

A former NYT reporter and Pulitzer Prize winner in the twilight of life looking for one last oorah publishes not on a mainstream outlet but on his substack account an article with an unnamed person as the source with NO other named sources. And GR publishes this !!! Heck the tabloids at the checkout counter are better sourced.

The world war will start this year, that’s for sure. But this war will only be a cover for something bigger. To understand current events, you must first learn the history. Stop pussyfooting around. TheTooth Fairy didn’t blow up NordStream! The evidence is sufficient to support an indictment and conviction by any jury. Both Biden and Victoria Nuland threatened to destroy the pipeline on numerous occasions. German investigators have concluded there is no plausible evidence of complicity, and Hersh has a record of being accurate. This was an Act of War not just against Rbuit against our allies in Europe, Once the full impact of this horrific destruction become fully understood in europe NATO will lose whatever support it has and be recognized for what it has become under the Obiden Junta, The North Atlantic TERRORIST Organization. Our European allies will no longer have any trust in the US and will probably seek an alliance with Russia. Recealltha the Snowden papers revealed the USA was spying on the conversations of European leaders,especially during trade negotiations.With the wanton destruction of the pipeline Europeans are paying US energy companies 3X what they paid the Russians. Many are freezing, food shortages, factories closing and economics slipping rapidly into depression. They will no longer be our allies and are now very likely to be our enemies. Another source came out from the “Anti-Spiegel”(article in German). “Was ich schon 2022 von einem Whistleblower über die Nord-Stream-Sprengung erfahren habe (What I learned about the Nord Stream blast from a whistleblower back in 2022). This source was not reliable enough then, but now confirms Seymour Hersch’s report quite well, which is why it has now been published.
