What Are They Planning?

Today at approximately 2:20 p.m. a test of the national wireless and broadcast alert systems will occur, affecting cell phones, TVs and radios across the city and the country. According to a FEMA press release, the test is meant “to ensure that the systems continue to be effective means of warning the public about emergencies, particularly those on the national level.” Be prepared for a brief auditory assault, but remember: This is a test. This is only a test. No action is needed.

What are they planning?

FEMA ALERT

On October 4th, 2023, FEMA, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and the Puerto Rico Emergency Management Bureau will conduct a nationwide test to assess of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) capabilities.

PREMB Commissioner, Nino Correa Filomeno, emphasized that: “These test alerts are necessary to verify that the system is working properly so that, in a real case, citizens will know what to do, depending on the information that is issued. Amid this hurricane season, and any time an emergency occurs, it is necessary to have this system in place.”

The WEA and EAS tests are scheduled to begin at approximately at 2:20 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 4.

The WEA portion of the test will be initiated using FEMA’s Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS), a centralized internet-based system that FEMA manages which enables authorities to send authenticated emergency messages to the public through multiple communications networks. The WEA test sends a code to cell phones.

“We want to ensure that the systems continue to be effective, that the public understands and uses these alerts and warnings about emergencies, particularly those on the national level, as we work to strengthen emergency readiness among our communities,” said Orlando Olivera, Coordinator of FEMA’s Caribbean Area Office in Puerto Rico. “This is one step to be ready for emergencies. We are encouraging everyone, especially older adults to “Take Control in 1, 2, 3: Assess your needs, Make a plan, and Engage your support network. Visit www.ready.gov and learn more about it”.

Beginning at approximately 2:20 p.m., cell towers will broadcast the signal for approximately 30 minutes. During this time, WEA-compatible wireless phones that are switched on, within range of an active cell tower, and whose wireless provider participates in WEA, should be capable of receiving the test message. To help ensure that these alerts are accessible to the entire public, including people with disabilities, the alerts are accompanied by a unique tone and vibration.

Meanwhile, the EAS portion of the test is scheduled to last approximately one minute and will be conducted with the participation of radio and television broadcasters, cable systems, satellite radio and television providers and wireline video providers.

My cell phone made the alert noise and displayed the test message. It is possible that the government did this test because things are getting tense around this world. Since there are evil persons in governments who would like to conquer the world, it is amazing that we have not had a thermonuclear war.

Since Russia is preparing to restart atomic testing and to begin nuclear attack public safety drills it only makes sense that America prepares. Putin will not back down on Ukraine, Crimea is Russian. The only thing that will stop Putin from reintegrating Crimea back into Russia would be an assassination of him. The West is foolish to continue supporting Ukraine in this.

Russia has a history of replacing leaders when things turn crappy. Just ask Beria and Khrushchev about that.

Who knows WHAT this administration (NSA) does anymore – I don’t trust anything/anyone. Call me conspiracist, but I turned ours off and put them in our microwave oven (makeshift faraday cage) to prevent the possible installation of malicious (to us) code being pushed by the supposed “alert.” Turned off the WiFi modem/router too.

Wow. I regret I didn’t think defensively. How did this get past me? I’m the one who’s always the cynic. I’m sick with regret.

Us too. Every device attached to the internet has a unique address, or MAC. So in theory, if the test is a ping then your devise has been identified.

Nothing really new. I grew up with CONELRAD in the 1950s. It evolved into EBS by the 1980s. It was a DoD thing back then. When it took over 40 minutes to respond to the World Series quake in CA, the local radio station in Sacramento dropped the “E” for a while. Look for next year’s version.
