Makes sense. What criminal organization would want oversight of their money laundering operation?

Senate Democrats block oversight office to monitor US aid for Ukraine

By Josh Christenson, NY Post, July 27, 2023:

Senate Democrats banded together Wednesday night to oppose the creation of a new office to audit US military assistance for Ukraine as part of a provision in the annual defense spending bill.

Forty-five Democrats — including every member of the Senate Armed Services Committee — voted down an amendment to establish an Office of the Lead Inspector General for Ukraine Assistance as part of the fiscal year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Sen. Angus King (I-Maine), Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) also joined the Democrats in rejecting the new oversight office.

The Democratic opposition — which included several senators in vulnerable seats such as Jacky Rosen of Nevada, Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Sherrod Brown of Ohio and Bob Casey of Pennsylvania — kept the amendment from clearing the required 60-vote threshold to be part of the bill.

If passed, it would have allotted $10 million from the NDAA’s $886 billion budget toward the creation of a 30-person inspector general’s office.

I don’t blame them. They don’t want to kill the cow they are milking million$ from.

They complain about the evils and greed of capitalism but they sure loving getting their slimy hands on that dirty cash so they can live in their gated luxurious homes and flying in private jets, all the while pretending to care about “climate change”.

Rand Paul is defintely a surprise since he and his father Ron Paul usually defend Putin.

Tucker gets his “Russia-First” stance from Ron Paul, one of his inspirations.

Both Pauls also want to defund Israel.

When people think that some in the Repulican party are “Russia-First” or rooting for Russia like Tucker Carlson; why would anyone ever trust them to oversea an effort to stop Putin from rebuilding the Soviet Union?

The oversight on Ukraine spending sounds good in princple, but it comes down to your motives and trust.

Some populists just can’t be trusted on Russia, just like some Democrats can’t be trusted on Iran or China.

Ukraine has become a deterrent to China on Taiwan so far.

And China and Iran are funding Putin’s war against Ukraine because they know the importance of that war.

Do you think the Chinese and Iranians are asking for an oversight comittee on aid going to Russia? They probably aren’t, because they see the bigger picture.

All of the pathetic senators are the ones who need to be blocked. They are all corrupt and treasonous.

The headline is useless and the article tells us zip about why the voted against it. Having served in Afghanistan and reading the history of the IG for Afghanistan I can understand, to a point, why it was voted down. The IG for Afghanistan did not do a top line job and much money was unaccounted for. As for Ukraine there are currently, and have been, auditors working out of the U.S. Embassy. So this article simply boils down to click bait with a false and proactive headline.

I think singling out Ukraine is just gaslighting to ignore Putin’s aggressions.
