California Reparations Commission Claims Slavery is Chief Reason for Black Hardship Within State

California was never a slave state.

National Review: California’s reparations commission has determined that slavery, as opposed to disastrous policies advanced by the political establishment for decades, is the real reason for present-day black poverty in the state. In just a few weeks, the legislature that created the task force will take up the commission’s proposal, which calls for payments to black residents of upwards of $1.2 million. “We want to make sure that this is presented out in a way that does not reinforce the preoccupation with a dollar figure, which is the least important piece of this,” said Cheryl Grills, a task-force member and clinical psychologist in Los Angeles. What’s important, Grills and others say, is providing the public with an accurate record of slavery in California and then getting California to issue a formal apology for what the task force calls the state’s “perpetration of gross human rights violations and crimes against humanity on African slaves and their descendants” (National Review).

One thing is for sure the very idea of paying reparations to the descendants of former slaves from old south is absurd nonsense.

Just look at the facts that the Southern slaveholders are all long dead and buried. Likewise, the slaves they held are all dead and buried.

The fact is that Black people living in American in this century and in last century had never been slaves, unlike some of the grandfathers had been

It’s wrong as some to blame all White people for the sins of a few did in the past or the present.

In the old South when slavery was legal, very few Whites had enough money to buy slaves; many Whites in Old South were poor. Of course, hat only a few on that many South Whites actually had slaves by comparison, that did not make the practice of slavery in America right. Still the entire story need to be made clear to keep things in perspective.

Once during the civil war one feudal solider asked a Confederate soldier “Since you come from very poor family and doesn’t own any slaves, then why are you fighting for the Confederacy ?’ To that question the Confederate soldier replied because you’re down here.”

As for the North, it was legal and common practice of wealthy Americans who had been drafted to pay a poor White man to take in place in the Union army. As my great grandfather had done.

In the passing of time through that, war many of the soldiers on both sides of that “War between the States” had become bitter and complained that this awful violent deadly conflict was “A rich man’s war but a poor man’s fight.”

You do know that the Arab Muslims also had white slaves, killed most of the men and kept the women and children captive, don’t you? As a matter of fact, because the Muslims were attacking American ships, Thomas Jefferson had the Marines attack the Muslims. Former Presidents just paid the Muslims to leave the American ships alone.

All the wasted time that some Black people do complaining about not getting any reparations for something they didn’t suffer but some of their grandfathers who had been slaves had suffered. Come on to far too late for their grandparents to get reparations, they were the ones who deserved some money payback. Not their grandchildren.

What all those modern complainers need to do and should do is look to many of the modern Chinese Americans who also had their grandfathers terribly mistreated and abused by given the worse and most dangerous jobs with little pay in the construction of the Pacific Railroad.

Likewise, their grandfathers had been given the very worse difficult backbreaking dangerous jobs in the mines of the Western States. In the city of San, Francisco during much of the 1800’s the Chinese hand been limited to life, or exist, in the ghettos of that city.

The point is that no one hears the Chinese alive today complaining about the awful treatment of the grandparents. .One of the. Reasons for this is that they are too busy in working to establish or have now established a entrepreneurship of an business. For just complaining about long past wrongs is a complete waste of time and effort the can be put in and investment in a business.

The Black people may look to the Chinese of America and a role model for how to get ahead in life.

After the American Civil War ended, and slaves got their freedom… why didn’t the former slaves depopulate the former Confederacy?

Why didn’t former slaves move to places where slavery had never existed? Like New Mexico, or Arizona, or California? Or even Mexico, where slavery had never existed.

Humans throughout history vote with their feet. Don’t agree? Just look at America’s southern borders today!

So, I realize that it’s a kind of a taboo subject — but again if slavery was so bad (and I’m sure that it was), and if Jim Crow south was so bad (and I’m sure that it was), why didn’t former slaves and their descendants migrate early and often — en masse — out of the American south? I mean , to this very day, aren’t the highest concentrations of African-Americans still located in the former Confederacy?

The real reason for black hardship is that they are nothing but whining losers who blame everyone else for their shortcomings and then demand handouts instead of overcoming and hard work.

Respectfully, I think you may wish to rethink your assumptions.

It could be argued that a segment of the population has, in fact, actually figured out a rather reliable path for their own wealth creation.

Look at the successes of, eg, BLM. And the systematic looting of freestanding stores in malls and in shopping centers and in local corner stores. And the industrial scale tort actions.

Many of us consider it unimaginable that these trends can devolve further. Or accelerate. I’m not convinced of that

If you want to do right by your children and grandchildren, perhaps its time to just walk away. To leave. To where? I don’t know — maybe to Poland esp if you’re Catholic. Or to Finland, esp. if you’re Protestant. Or to Israel if you’re Jewish. I suppose there are other options, but at this point it’s hard for me to see how any of these trends in the U.S. can get better before they get worse.

The rioting and the rioters …

The looting and the looters …

Etc.

One could argue that these are in fact alternative modes of wealth creation.

“Alternative” in the sense that most Americans have difficulty believing that these are as legitimate forms of acquiring wealth as “getting an education,” “get a job,” “learn a trade,” and so on

Many, many, many groups of humans throughout history have supported themselves largely via robbing and raiding. And intimidating and raping.

A lot of Americans (most? Americans?) act shocked and surprised that this phenomenon , ancient though it obviously is … exists today , in our midst.

It’s really not shocking at all

The thing that’s changed imho is that American politicians now openly accept it. Maybe that’s because they get more votes and more money from the raiders, and less from the raided.

Up next on their agenda: the suburbs. More protection schemes. “That’s a nice neighborhood you’ve got there; it’d be a shame if anything happened to it.” I mean , why wouldn’t this be next? Who’s to prevent it? You don’t deserve what you have. You don’t pay your share. You are our oppressors. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Those who were never slaves, in a state that was free, will receive money from people who never owned slaves to enslave future generations under the yoke of black mastery over all.

Equity = Enslavement

Never expect a Leftist to think of consequences. They are devoid of rational thought and are slaves to blind ideology.

It has nothing to do with slavery and everything to do with communism
If this succeeds then others will claim your wealth as theirs. The gays, the Mexicans, the Latinos, the trans etc ..
I am not saying Latinos and Mexicans as the instigators but the Communist democrats will try to take as many assets and resources away from private ownership and into the hands of their fascist state installing socialism that promises these groups payouts that will only come as extensions of state power. It’s a ruse like in the Soviet era when the regime said that your wealth was stolen from workers and the state representing the workers will take it from you .

No one should be getting Reparations. Nobody who was a slave or their children are alive. This is just another way to race bait and cause dissension between the people of the US.

Please remember that Italian families were separated at Ellis Island, and sent to various cities, according to the work needs in the USA .. hmmmmm .. I might have been a vistim of this… and had to overcome hardships. Let us see. For sure, I have 3 degrees, some done on scholarship, others by working days and attending classes at night. Thus, one might readily see how I judge the liberal policies of silly California. Was in San Francisco a few years back, on a cultural project, and had to escape.

California was never a slave State. I don’t know why the Reparations Committee was formed in the first place. The State of California is in debt and cannot afford to pay any Reparations.

Perhaps the California Reparations Commission might permit themselves to be addressed on the matter by Thomas Sowell, probably America’s greatest living black historian? That is, assuming they genuinely would like to hear the truth…? Hmmm, thought not!
Curiously, I notice that the works and presence of Thomas Sowell on the internet and on Youtube in particular, seem to be fading in prominence in favour of a welter of less truthfully exact tub thumpers. I wouldn’t dream of inferring that this is in any way planned or deliberate of course.

Yes the whole idea of reparations is complete madness. In Canada the politicians and mainly the left are engaged in a propaganda regime of reparations to the Indians…sanctioned by the cowardly conservatives…and spear headed by extremist Indian groups.
It is insane.
But a sure way for these groups to get something for nothing.
More people need to speak up and speak out against this complete bullshit.
In Canada they try to make people feel guilty for
Residential Schools where the children were taken to be educated. Now accusing the Catholic Church of genocide, for trying to educate and help the little Barbadian’s, removing them from squaller, treating them for disease and TB, scarlet fever, small pox and for which many died, and now claiming when finding graves that they were murdered.
The insanity just continues.
What a mess…
Good leaders are needed…get rid of 5gat grease monkey in California…
Great leaders like Desantis and Trump are the only
Leaders that could hope to turn all this around…
Heal divisions before the fractures become irreversible

Close. California was admitted to the Union as a Non-Slave state, but that did not preclude California from allowing slaves into the state. When slave owners came to California with slaves, they were allowed to keep the slaves. Yes, California was a Non-Slave State, but existing slavery was not illegitimized.

Stephen A. Douglas? Was n’t he one of the Democrats that wanted to allow the spread of slavery to the West? The Republicans opposed it! The Democratic Party the party of the four ‘S’ Doctrine. Slavery, Secession, Segregation and Socialism. Let all Democrat voters be billed to pay the reparations as it was their religious cult, that gave us the Civil War, six weeks after Lincoln was elected. Andrew Jackson another Democrat gave us the Trail of Tears.
