Coldplay is currently on tour supporting their latest album, Music of the Spheres. For this tour, they made some big commitments to reduce its environmental impact.
The band recently released the sustainability report for the first year of the tour. It covers twelve sections including carbon dioxide emissions, food, merchandise, power and stage show.
Validated by the MIT Environmental Solutions Initiative, this report is a first of its kind for a touring band.
One of the goals of this tour is to reduce CO2 emissions by 50% compared to their previous tour in 2016/17. Through the various efforts, including powering their shows with reused car batteries, It has currently achieved a 47% reduction.
