Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk took to social media Friday to clarify some recent news about him he considered false.
He first addressed Twitter employees’ concerns about their jobs and the corporate culture changes coming with the new CEO.
“If Twitter acquisition completes, company will be super focused on hardcore software engineering, design, infosec & server hardware,” Musk stated in a Friday morning Twitter post. “I strongly believe that all managers in a technical area must be technically excellent. Managers in software must write great software or it’s like being a cavalry captain who can’t ride a horse!”
In a filing made with the Securities and Exchange Commission Monday, Twitter expressed worry about how the company would retain current employees and recruit new ones.
Company officials informed the federal regulators about their worry over a possible “inability to attract and retain key personnel and recruit prospective employees, and the possibility that our current employees could be distracted, and their productivity decline as a result.”
Daniel Zhao, an economist with Glassdoor, noted an almost 300 percent increased interest in Twitter jobs after news of Musk’s offer to buy the company. A Thursday report by Fortune examined the Glassdoor economist’s findings.
Next, the Tesla founder tweeted a rebuttal to a New York Post article saying former President Donald Trump quietly encouraged Musk to buy Twitter.
“This is false,” Musk declared in his retweet of the article. “I’ve had no communication, directly or indirectly, with Trump, who has publicly stated that he will be exclusively on Truth Social.”
In an April 27 Twitter post, Musk noted the Truth Social app was beating Twitter and TikTok on the Apple Store. He opined that Truth Social was a terrible name for the company. Musk said Trump’s platform exists because “Twitter censored free speech.”
“Should be called Trumpet instead,” he concluded in a post that has been liked by almost 500,000 Twitter users.
Finally, he responded to a claim on a spoofed Twitter account mimicking the New York Post claiming he was rejected by a woman he invited to the Met Gala.
“I didn’t ask anyone out or request particular seating,” Musk tweeted. “This rumor originated from a parody account, but got picked up by real media & twitter trends (sigh).”
