3 Ways To Make Your Life Easier – {Life Lessons From a Wise Man Named Solomon}

Life is hard.

All of us face many pressures every single day.  Stress can come from relational conflicts, a to-do list that feels impossible, health troubles, financial troubles, feelings of failure and more.

Some days, as I lay my head on my pillow, I wish life was easier.

Today we are going to take a closer look at the wisest man who ever lived (except for Jesus 😉 ) and see how he dealt with his overwhelming responsibilities as the King of Israel.  Join me on this video as we examine 3 Ways To Make Your Life Easier – Lessons from a Wise Man named Solomon, based on 1 Kings 3.

Have you ever heard of the acronym KISS – it stands for “Keep it Simple and Straightforward”.  It seems that we are all drawn to simple and easy things yet life is complex.  We live in the Age of Information. Knowledge is always — just one click away and we tend to think that knowledge will make our lives easier.  But information cannot compare to the revelation of God’s Word!

Life is too complex and the road too unknown, for us to google all of our answers.  Only the Lord knows every detail of our lives and what is best for us.  And while life will always have twists and turns and trials and difficulties, life is easier when we follow God’s will and God’s ways because we can have peace knowing that he is with us and guiding us.

Too many times I’m tempted to think I already know the answers to my own problems.  Look at what Proverbs 3:5,6 says:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
    and do not lean on your own understanding.
⁶ In all your ways acknowledge him,
    and he will make straight your paths.

It says – DO NOT lean on your own understanding.  This means we must reject our own understanding.  Do you reject your own understanding?  The rejection of our own understanding — is a redirection to seek the Lord’s direction.

So what is getting in the way of God’s wisdom in your life? 

Becoming wiser is as simple as asking God for wisdom, reading God’s Word daily and then applying what we have learned.

In 1 Kings 3, Solomon asked God for wisdom and this pleased the Lord greatly.  God answered his prayer and it says of Solomon:

²⁹ And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding beyond measure, and breadth of mind like the sand on the seashore, ³⁰ so that Solomon’s wisdom surpassed the wisdom of all the people of the east and all the wisdom of Egypt.³¹ For he was wiser than all other men, wiser than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, Calcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol, and his fame was in all the surrounding nations. ³² He also spoke 3,000 proverbs, and his songs were 1,005. ³³ He spoke of trees, from the cedar that is in Lebanon to the hyssop that grows out of the wall. He spoke also of beasts, and of birds, and of reptiles, and of fish. ³⁴ And people of all nations came to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and from all the kings of the earth, who had heard of his wisdom.
(1 Kings 4:29-34)

God wants to give us more wisdom!

What do you need to change in your life, in order to gain more wisdom from God?

Perhaps we need to spend less time scrolling on social media or maybe we need to rise earlier in the morning to get into God’s Word or maybe we need to spend less time trying to please the voices of friends, family or this world.

Remember this – KISS.

Keep it simple and straightforward.

May we be women who are known for the simplicity of reading God’s Word – just one chapter a day – and then applying God’s Word and wisdom to our daily lives.
