Washington — The United States Mint (Mint) is accepting orders for the 2020 America the Beautiful five-ounce silver Uncirculated coin honoring Weir Farm National Historic Site in Connecticut beginning today at noon Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).

Priced at $178.25, this coin’s reverse (tails) design portrays an artist, wearing a painter’s smock, painting outside Julian Alden Weir’s studio at Weir Farm. It is inspired by various images of the studio and Weir’s paintings created on the property, as well as descriptions of Weir and his fellow artist’s creative inspiration from the rural environment. The composition allows the viewer to feel as if he or she is standing where Weir once stood. The inscription A NATIONAL PARK FOR ART is included. Additional inscriptions are WEIR FARM, CONNECTICUT, 2020, and E PLURIBUS UNUM.

The obverse (heads) features a 1932 restored portrait of George Washington.

Each coin is encapsulated and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Production is limited to 20,000 units. There is no household order limit.

The Mint accepts orders online. Information on shipping options is available at the Mint’s website.

Email says my enrollments have been shipped. I do not recall them ever offering new coins on a Monday before.
Thankfully this long series is winding down.
Hope to not get hooked on any further series although dogs, navy ships, classic 🚙 or historic USA military aircraft would be temping.

IMHO buy the bullion versions, much better chance to make some $- how many Volcanoes have there been?

Oh, on the W & Privy 25c, only gotten 2 W of the 1st issue, since then gone thru like 50 rolls, change machines, etc. crickets. Privy a scam good luck I don’t even get 2020 coins. By a small coininkydinkly some guy in the midwest has 100’s of them……hmmmmm

  3. IPS_STUFF says

On west coast (So Cal), I have yet to find any W quarters… I have looked through many rolls. In last 2 months I have not.. Staying put until they had me go back to work on 5/4. But I know the W’s can be found. My brother, who has very little interest in coins, has started finding them for me. He has found a fast food place that gets new rolls almost everyday and a credit union. He has pulled 4 W Somoa’s and 8 Weir. So not all get pulled before they hit the normal channels.

  4. John Q. Coinage says

IPS also in So. Cal. the new ATB’s are stopped @ the state border along with bullets….

  5. Jerry Diekmann says

I really believe that the way the Mint distributed the “W” quarters, which should never have been made in the first place, really hurt the coin collecting community. I know the Mint doesn’t care about coin collectors, but still you would think they could have done something better – or even nothing would have been better. I almost never use coins anymore, so if there are no 2019 or 2020 coins in circulation I wouldn’t know except from this blog.

    @ KEITHSTER:

Did you drill holes in the Bat ATB’s for your necklace?

Did you use rawhide, cord, metal, or something else for the stringing material?

Bezel on the Ike, or drilled hole?
Thanks for your reply if you see this.

@cagcrisp – Most people on this blog had plenty of time to stockpile all the silver and gold they “need”. Except of ongoing collections, taking a pause on buying with premiums this high is probably the right thing to do. If you find an uncontrollable need to buy, stick to the electronic forms where the premiums haven’t changed.

I make all my necklaces bracelets out of the cotton quilting scraps from Moms quilts! She so wants to throw them away but now saves them all for Me. Went and bought a$30 Genome sewing machine at the Walmart. Then you double sew the long ones into long strips then braid if using three or more I mostly use two and just tie them in knots. Mostly put raw cut agates on the end wrapped in the extra fabric that you leave on the ends. they get a little super glue from the dollar store! The Bats were a pain in the guano end as you have to use thin strips to go around the reeds make a loop out of the thicker part of the strip get out the Elmers and a Q-tip go around both the reeds and on the one side of the strip and put the loop on the strip. Then the coin on the loop how you want it to hang and roll it like a dobbie back and forth till its nice and tight! Then use a Q-tip to make sure the coin is free of the fabric when you like the look get out the gloves and hit the fabric only lightly with the super!! So Good Luck With That ALL “>”>”> O)O)O)O

I’m discovering .latle.y I have tons of worthless US Mint Junk from the past 22 years. I need to dump it all and focus on doing something positive with the cash.

What have I learned? Not much but I need to stop listening to the BS about Buy Buy Buy junk from the Govmint.

The Gold, Silver, and Platinum has some value as Bullion but in today’s situation of Gubmint Welfare , who needs it as anything else?

I had been looking forward to a redof the 1921 Peace Dollar but NOOOOOOOOOOO. Nothing of Beauty from the trash master mint. Nothing bùt the bouncing bunnies of b-ball.

Trivey Marks ? It’s sad when that’s the best the Artists can do .

KEITHSTER thanks for sharing about how you make your necklaces. Do you have any pictures you can share?

After reading what kind of premiums people are willing to pay for physical silver I recently decided to sell some on the bay. I can’t believe the $$ people are paying
(some double the spot price)! It’s like beanie baby’s & cabbage patch dolls back in the day.

My SLV trades have worked out nicely too. Overall I’ve continue to beat the market almost daily for several weeks.

  25. MarkInFlorida says

I have some cash I’d like to spend on bullion, but at these premiums, I’ll just sit on it and wait. Maybe I should sell some of what I have and buy it back later at lower premiums?

  26. SteveW says

Erik H, what form of silver are you selling at almost double spot? American Eagles? If so, it would make sense. They command a premium since they are recognizable and thus easily re-sold by your buyers close to what price you sold them at. Right now, I can buy one ounce silver rounds for $21. I guess it just depends on what form you want your silver in. Paper, common rounds, Kangaroos, Koala’s, AGE’s, proof AGE’s etc.

  27. Foxman69 says

Does anyone have an idea how many 2020 ASE bullion $$ have been minted so far? I have seen figures released here and there but have no idea what a ballpark total would be…and because production has started and stopped so much and been made as “emergency” coins,…are buyers assuming this will be the lowest production year of all for the issue, even beating out 1986?

  28. Erik H says

    SteveW,

Yes, ASE have been the big winners.

That’s what I’m doing but I’m switching to PM backed ETFs right now so I can stay in the game. Using the gold/ silver ratio. Also trading between Pt & Pd.

There will be a 1 Level price Increase on Gold this afternoon

There Should be a 2 Level price Increase on Palladium this afternoon…

  30. cagcrisp says

The United States Treasury will do something this Afternoon that they haven’t done in 3+ decades.

The United States Treasury will issue 20 year Bonds.

The United States Treasury will sell $20B.

My Guess is they will be Well Received.

The When Issued is ~ 1.23%

  31. cagcrisp says

With a 2 level price Increase coming for the Palladium, Why hasn’t the Mint pulled the $2,500.00 in anticipation of $2,600.00?

The Mint’s sales of the Palladium are down to a trickle at $2,500.00

My Guess the Mint would rather sell what they can at $2,500.00 vs. raising prices to $2.600.00 and sell even Fewer.

    The margin on X @ $2,500.00 is better than y on $2,600.00…

No man no can do ? Maybe someday I could have somebody post them ? I don’t even own a phone let alone a computer have not even had a land line in 40 years should have been Amish? This is my works puter. But they are real neat to see real colorful as I tend to use the loud and bright scraps. But some are made to match the color of the agates. Lots of people say they like them. They look almost tie-dyed but then some again some are as I do dye some T shirts just to make some masks and jewelry .So if you have any old tie-die shirts learn how to cut them into one long strip but with out the stiches to reinforce them they will rip to easy when you knot them so be gentle but do make the knot tight. They sure are comfortable with the 100% cotton and you will see the color effect! I do like the look of the fancy coins the high relief liberty does shine on it . But do leave them in the OGP airtight as no collector wants to harm a coin? They still look cool that way whish I owned a slab more words I thought I would never say as I would like to try the square look! So just take the long strip find the middle make a loop big enough to hold your rock or coin hang it on something and just start making the tight knots but make sure you pull on both sides to keep the knots uniform and count the knots if slipping on many of the looped coins and it’s fun. So Have Fun And Good Luck All”> ()———–)
