Stampin’ Up! Floral Statements on Sheet Music for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!! It’s sketch week and we’ve got the full complement of hoppers today!  Do be sure to check out all their projects when you’re done here, won’t you?

A friend and team-member sent me a lovely card the other day – on which she’d used the Floral Statements stamp set and a Sheet Music stamp.  And that gave me the idea for this card today.  Take a look-see:

Our sketch for today…

And I got my color scheme from the Global Design Project color challenge.

I started with a Soft Suede card base and embossed the front in the new Basket Weave Dynamic TIEF (which is still available as a free SAB goodie, bundled with the Blossoming Basket stamp set, with a $100 purchase).  Using an almost-dry Sponge Dauber with Soft Suede ink, I rubbed it on the three sides of the card front and quickly sprinkled it with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it up.

For the art, I stamped the Sheet Music image in Soft Suede on a Very Vanilla panel.  Then, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I stamped the Floral Statements image in Versamark and heat embossed it in Copper.  While I was at it, I did the same again on a Vellum card stock sheet.

I stamped the Burlap image in Soft Suede on a Pear Pizzazz panel, tore the edges and then rubbed them with my Soft Suede Sponge Dauber – then I adhered it on an angle with Liquid Glue.  I tore and sponged the art panel in the same way.

With some Liquid Glue, I adhered a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon over the Pear Pizzazz panel.

I colored the flowers with my Calypso Coral and Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Markers and then popped the art panel onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  With a Stitched Shapes Framelits circle die, I cut a circle from the Vellum panel.  Then I used Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals – just under the embossed portions – to pop the circle onto the art panel.

I made a Linen Thread Double-Loop Billie Moan Bow and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  Finally, I nestled a Pear Pizzazz heart Enamel Shape under the bow and the card front was done!

On the inside, I took a Very Vanilla panel and embossed across the bottom with the Basket Weave Dynamic TIEF.  Then I lightly sponged it with Soft Suede.  I matted the panel on Pear Pizzazz, then wrapped some Linen Thread twice around the panel and tied a little bow.

I added a Pear Pizzaz heart, Fast Fuse’d the panel into the card base and the card was done.

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got a few enamel hearts on the front…

…and then I embossed the envelope flap in the Basket Weave Dynamic TIEF.

Et Voila! Thank you, Carole, for the great idea!  I think the two images in the Floral Statements set are so pretty and, of course, Sheet Music.  Hello?  It’s.  Sheet.  Music!  Hope you like!

  1. What a great design! Love the off-set panels and the colors are perfect! 🙂

  2. Such a pretty design and layers. I can see that turning into a Christmas card using poinsettias.

  3. Kate hury

    That is a wowser winner!!!

  4. Love this card. Question? Why did you put the music upside down? Love your colors and the whole design. Agree with Karen, would make a lovely Christmas card with changes. Or a guy card, with changes, maybe bow ties instead of flowers? I don’t know, guess you have me thinking

    • Hmmm. Excellent question! Guess I wasn’t paying close enough attention – my brain was trying to figure out the Vellum circle! 🙂 Thanks much, Julie – can’t wait to see what you might do with the design! 🙂

  5. Love all the texture in your card and what a cool technique for that sentiment!
