Art Journal Collection Charlene Stamps Planner Essentials

Masks, Moving and Mandalas

May 6, 2020
Hello everyone, Annette Green here today continuing in my Greenville Planner. The house is sold, the deal is done, and now we’re in the process of saying goodbye to friends and family before we move next week. All this while we continue to wear masks and abide by the social distancing orders we’re currently under. It’s interesting, to say the least.
I used the Mandala stencil to create a background element for my next page in my planner. It’s the perfect size. I swirled several colors of Distress Oxides through the stencil until I was happy with the outcome.
Next I stamped randomly using the two text stamps in Words and Layers set, then inked over the top with Antique Linen then around the edges with Vintage Photo. As you can see, this is the back side of my previous page from last month with the flip-out panel.
Here’s a closer look.
For the right hand page, I cut the tabbed page using Planner Essentials 3 twice; once from ivory card stock and the other from tan pattern paper. Before adhering the paper to the card stock, I die-cut the mandala from the tan, then again from some green pattern paper, then adhered everything together as shown. I swirled a bit of the same Oxide inks into the mandala’s spaces to coordinate with the left hand page.
Here’s a closer look at that.
For the edge of each page, I used Planner Essentials 8 and the Reinforcement Variety Pack for the holes. Next, I added my main photos but instead of adhering them down, I added them to the page using clear tape as a hinge to make room for a few more photos and some hidden journaling spots underneath.
Using the Planner Essentials 6 dies, I cut several journaling blocks and added some rules for writing. Some of the photo flaps have smaller, secondary photos.
Here I’ve added Enjoy This Moment and the heart die-cuts from Planner Essentials 8. I love this little photo of our dog Suki. It shows that while all the craziness is going on, our pets seem to carry on contentedly.
I added This Is My Life from Planner Essentials 6 to my left hand page. To add some visual interest and pop of color, I added the fold-over tabs and a star to each photo flap for easy lifting. These are from the Planner Pocket 3 – Tag and Topper set.
Finally, I wrote all my journaling in the available spaces under the photo flaps. This is a great way to maximize the space, while keeping your pages confined to a two-page spread.
Here’s another look at the finished layout. Although it’s a rough time right now, I’m happy to be documenting it for the future. Hopefully this pandemic will start to wane soon and we’ll all be getting back to our normal routines. I don’t know about you, but crafting has been my therapy during this time. Thanks for following along today. Have a wonderful day!
