JR & PH7 x St. Joe Lous ft. Roc Marciano - "Driven"

Image via Below System Records
I love how these things come together. Being a fan of the production of Germany's JR & PH7 and the rhymes of cats like Jersey trio St. Joe Louis years ago is feeling like a wise musical investment now that they are returning for projects like Coral Cadavers (which St. Joe Louis member Michael Cardigan calls a "neo-noir psychological thriller about a woman’s descent into moral ambiguities against the backdrop of Los Angeles") and getting everyone from Rah Digga to Roc Marciano on their joints.

For "Driven," we get to see this woman doing some of the illest shit to herself for the loot. The production is a hazy, jazzy daydream, with Marci adding an edgy vibe to the proceedings. You can cop "Driven" today, and look out for Coral Cadavers, which is said to be dropping sometime this Spring.

JR & PH7 x St. Joe Louis ft. Rah Digga - "Duck Duck Goose"

It's been a smooth five years since JR and PH7 dropped their My Favourite Demons EP with Jersey rhyme sayers St. Joe Louis and Brokn.Englsh, so it's dope to see JR, PH7, and the trio of SJL linking up for a new one, especially since the mighty Rah Digga drops a dynamic feature.

This appears to be taken from the forthcoming Coral Cadavers album; you can cop the single via Bandcamp, and stream the single while watching the video down below.

St Joe Louis Proves That It's Truly 'Cloud Club > Everything'

Yeah, yeah; it took St. Joe Louis five years to follow up their debut project, but fuck it, good things come to those who wait. As they put it, Cloud Club > Everything was born from "multiple smoke-filled studio sessions [that] became debaucherous all night parties," and that them to finally "manage to piece together a complete project from top to bottom. The results of the cave dwelling, bacchanalian chaos, the movement dubbed "The Cloud Club" was born."

Featuring everyone from Fresh Daily and Peter Hadar to Nemo Achida and Nameliss, this is a VERY necessary follow-up. Lose your minds to this.

St. Joe Louis ft. Nemo Achida - "I Rise"

Following up the "Gold Slippers" teaser from last week is a new one from St. Joe Louis, "I Rise," featuring another name you should have your eyes on, Nemo Achida. This is the first official single from Cloud Club Over Everything, and finds the squad getting reflective over this intoxicating instrumental.

Cloud Club Over Everything drops on July 26th.

Michael Cardigan & Tommie Chase - "Gold Slippers"

For those who really rock with the dub, you'll remember this five-year-old St. Joe Louis release, 30,000 Ft. High and Rising, which we helped distribute with Refined Hype and Potholes in my Blog. To celebrate that five-year marker, the trio is back with another release, Cloud Club Over Everything, which is due out on July 26th. To get you hyped for that, two-thirds of the crew (Michael Cardigan and Tommie Chase) went in over some heavenly Swiff D production for "Gold Slippers." Short and sweet; something to get your appetite ready for the real shit. CC/Everything.

St. Joe Louis "St. Joe Lotus Reloaded"

St. Joe Louis returns with 'St. Joe Lotus: Reloaded'. Emotionally darker than the last time we heard the NJ/Texas trio. Ever focused on the feelings minus the filler. It's a 6 song project that tries to grapple with the sacrifices we sometimes make to achieve success. Similar to its predecessor, this EP unites the group once again with some perfectly curated Flying Lotus production.

The title track 'Reloaded' addresses the groups renewed musical focus. As Michael Cardigan puts it "Never lonely/Success will be my best friend/Now I'm write back to the money like I'm texting." Not to be outdone Tommie Chase puts on a lyrical clinic on 'Getting There' while Elete Wright paints a tale of seduction on 'Night Blooming Jasmine.'

Tom Chase "Dark Knight"

One thing I HATE when shocking things (like the Aurora shooting during the Dark Knight Rises premiere) is when cats just half-ass drop a weak bar relating to the current event. The boy Tom Chase isn't one of those hopalong niggas. This cut, produced by @clawsbeats, essentially fleshes out a narrative based on a story we've heard time and again: someone who has some deep issues, a loner who thrives in the escapist activities like comic book reading and formulates plans to cause real world damage. Accented by snippets of news stories on this case, Chase crafts a thought-provoking cinema on wax. He said the beat just spoke to him and this is the result. And you niggas wonder why I can't put too much into the mindless drivel that passes as entertainment. Shouts to Chidda. #CLDCLB

St. Joe Louis ft. Ezrakh & Jahnia "Purple Boxes"

The "self described connoisseurs of filtered cigars" go ham over some subdued 808 bounce right here. I don't smoke cigars, or much of anything else at this point. If I did, I'd pour a few up and blow some smoke to this one. Cloud Club goes in, all day. You already knew that, doe. Right?

Tommie Chase - Slicetape

Sort of a prelude to the St. Joe Lotus EP that drops tomorrow, Tommie Chase leaked this Slicetape on your asses. Word from him is that he "was just in a zone while I was doing this tape! I decided to grab a few of my favorite beats and I tried to body every beat I found it. I tried to put some original production on the mixtape to showcase some of my songwriting but for the most part I wanted to give that real mixtape feeling not a street album feeling - that's pretty much it".

St. Joe Louis x Flying Lotus "Say A Prayer"

The homey Michael Cardigan from St. Joe Louis told me he they were working on a project over Flying Lotus productions entitled St. Joe Lotus, and this cut is the first official single from that project. This could've been some Valentine's Day shit, but we're in the puppy love stage of the year right now, so this clip plays like a series of messages delivered via phone. Straight game over phone lines. Matches perfect with the beat. These cats ain't playing.

St. Joe Louis "Forgot To Forget"

Released today is the second single from My Favorite Demons, an EP produced by JR & PH7, and featuring cuts from St. Joe Louis & Brokn.Englsh. If you've been in a situation where there's a lover/loved one that you're trying to get rid of, mentally, to move on, but you can't? This is your anthem. Additional vocals from L. Pierre. Cop this today - it includes a remix from Ezrakh.

St. Joe Louis "CCSDT"

I was just gushing over this cut, which is my Spring/Summer 2012 guilty obsession. SJL recently finished up a remix and video for "Forgot to Forget" (which is the next single off the My Favorite Demons EP) that's set to drop next week. They added some fly bits to the "Same Damn Time" instrumental and just murder it. No rapping about wearing Gucci and cooking dope, just some sick shit from the Cloud Club.
