H.R. 5824 would require the Director of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) to conduct research and development of a technology that would increase participation in training offered to state, local, and tribal communities. The bill would require the Department of Homeland Security to report to the Congress on the accreditation of training programs offered by the department. Using information from the FLETC on its current training efforts, CBO estimates that implementing the bill’s provisions would cost less than $500,000 over the 2020-2025 period; any spending would be subject to the availability of appropriated funds.
