S. 2683 would establish an interagency task force to identify challenges to implementing federally required background checks for child care staff. Within a year of enactment, the task force would report to the Congress on its findings and recommendations.
Using the costs of similar programs and information from the Administration for Children and Families, CBO estimates that implementing the bill would cost less than $500,000 over the 2020-2021 period; any spending would be subject to the availability of appropriated funds.
