I think most online tools that are supposed to help people write better are not that helpful to anybody, and certainly not to English Language Learners.

There are some that I think teach as well as correct, and I’ve collected them at The Best Online Tools That Can Help Students Write An Essay.

I’ve just learned about a new tool I’m adding to that list.

It’s called WordTune, and I learned about it from Richard Byrne.

As you can see from the image at the top of this post, you write one or several sentences, and then you’re offered several ways that you can write it differently.

I actually had heard about it from Richard when he first wrote about it awhile ago.  But I was under the impression it was only a Chrome Extension and, as many teachers know, it can be a real pain-in-the-butt to get extensions approved by district’s tech departments.

However, today I took the time to check out the site directly, and was pleasantly surprised to find that you can actually use the writing tool on their own site without having to download the extension.

It’s definitely worth checking out!
