One Minute Pause - Reconnect with God

The One Minute Pause App is a simple way to reconnect with God in the midst of your busy day. From John Eldredge, the New York Times Bestselling Author of Wild at Heart and Captivating. Based on the One Minute Pause practice of his book Get Your Life Back and the 30 Days to Resilient program that accompanies his latest book, Resilient, this app invites you into the practice of restoring your union with God and receiving the life that he wants to offer to you, daily.

- 30 Days to Resilient Program
- 1, 3, 5 and 10 minute Pauses
- 5 and 10 Mental Strength Pauses

What’s New

Version 12.0.0

- The app loading screen now automatically matches your device dark mode settings. You can still change this in the settings.
- We’ve improved the titles as a quick way to help you refer to your favorite Pauses.
- We previously made improvements to the transcript, but in the process we accidentally broke the ability to copy the text. This is resolved so you can get back to copy and paste delight.

Resilient

For the past two days I have woken up before my 5:30 alarm, and in those sleepy moments upon waking have had very specific thoughts about this app. The first day I thought, “I wish the Pause App had some of the prayers from Resilient on it.” (I’ve been listening to the podcast, but haven’t gotten the book yet.) And then I went to use the app, and there it was - a whole 30 day journey of Resilient prayers and meditation. I love it! I love Jesus.

The next day, I woke up thinking of this ancient Christian truth that I am united to God like a drop in the ocean - I am one with him. And at the same time He is like the whole ocean in a drop as He fills me with himself. As I pondered this I listened to day 2, and had to laugh at the goodness of God. Union with Him is the theme for the day. I feel like I’m being set up. In the best possible way. I’m truly loving this series. Thank you!

Also, a HUGE thank you for having multicultural voices reading and praying in this series. My heart is so full. This is so important. Thank you.

Excellent start and finish to your day

I was aware I needed a structured yet doable end and beginning to each day to give my day’s struggles to God and to start my day centered on God. It absolutely had to include prayer and scripture. This fit my need exactly. No amount of self-help will stand the test of time that being deeply in union with Christ will accomplish. Great job Mr. Eldredge. I appreciate that you can’t just skip ahead in the app. You have to finish each day’s meditation to progress to the next. It gets deep, but you get plenty of warming up. I felt it was what I needed to shed off the pain and suffering of the last few years. Jesus alone gets my pain and He is the best counselor. So glad this app gave me structure to get there.
A Note: I fully disagree with us being “amphibians”. I understand the metaphor but it’s a dangerous one in these days where eroding the Creation story is manifest everywhere. So I had to actively look past that part which detracted a little. I was glad a friend gave me heads up on that. Would love an explanation as to why that was included in such a beautiful program. It raises serious questions for me. Because it was repeated so often, I couldn’t give 5 stars. I will restart the app and see if that becomes too much of an obstacle for me.
Overall very happy with the app!

Time to Reflect

I absolutely love this app. Love what John Eldridge talks about, how he talks about it, and ultimately just the amazing tool I’ve been gifted in order to seek a deeper relationship with God. My mother and I even listen to the podcast “Wild at Heart” which is a masterpiece all its own. That being said, there is one thing I would like to comment upon that I find a bit difficult:
In the beginning of the short audio clips, we’re given time to “think” or “take a moment” around various beautiful topics involving Christ and ourselves. But quite often I find that before I can truly begin to settle into these thoughts, John begins to say something to help us get further into that mindset.
I am a slower processor, and would love it if there was some way to change that length of time that I get to reflect. Like a little slider bar that would increase or decrease the duration of the ambient noise before he begins talking again/praying/etc. That way I could really settle into my thoughts and be prepared to continue with the pause session!
Again, love the app. Thank you guys for all the hard work you’ve put in. May Christ continue to work through you as His love and peace constantly shift our mindsets towards Him.

Thank you so much for your kind review, and for the suggestions! This is the kind of feature we'd like to look into developing.
