I love everything about Barbour, a 120 year old brand that epitomizes British country style. Do I own anything from Barbour? No, but I've wanted one of their waxed cotton jackets ever since I moved to Connecticut and tried one on in a Litchfield boutique.
The pricetag, however, made me balk. It was in the hundreds.
I've noticed, however, that Barbour jackets are available at a lot more stores now and come in a range of prices: The Barrowdale waxed cotton coat featured here is just $289.90 on sale. Not unreasonable for a coat that boasts wind-blocking protection and a water repellant finish.
Imagine my surprise when I was browsing target.com and came across a super similar looking jacket for just $45. Waxed cotton goodness! It gets great reviews, too. Now I can pretend I'm traversing the North Sea coast in my budget Barbour lookalike instead.
