Grilled Cheese Sandwiches have been a childhood favorite for as long as I can remember. As a kid and still today the best way to enjoy a ooey gooey grilled cheese sandwich is with a hot bowl of tomato soup. If you ask me grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup go together just like peanut butter and jelly and  peas and carrots! 

Today I am shaing a fun twist to the beloved American Classic sandwich with these yummy Grilled Cheese Roll Ups.  I certainly can't take credit for this genius idea. I happened upon it while I was poking around on Pinterest one night and I knew it was something I had to make. Grilled cheese sandwiches are a favorite in our house, so I knew everyone would love them especially my youngest son. 

[Image] Recently Walmart teamed up with Kraft, Wonder Bread, and Blue Bonnet for their Grilled Cheese Solutions program! As a Walmart Mom I was asked to create my own twist on the already loved classic cheesy sandwich. I knew immediately that I wanted to make those grilled cheese roll ups I had seen online.      

These cheesy roll ups are super simple to make and call for all your traditional grilled cheese ingredients. I made a few plain grilled cheese roll ups and few others using ham and cheese. By far my son loved the regular grilled cheese rolls, and is already asking me to make them again. For me I ♥ both variations.

[Image] Start by using a rolling pin to flatten out each slice of bread. You can cut the crusts off, but I prefer to leave them on. 

[Image] Layer one slice of American cheese (can also use cheddar) and one slice of thin deli ham (if using) on each slice of flattened bread. Carefully roll up each slice tightly and secure with a toothpick to prevent them from unraveling.   

[Image] Melt a tablespoon of butter in the bottom of a skillet over medium heat. Place each grilled cheese roll seam-side down in the skillet (I added 4 at a time). Cook on all sides until the bread is toasted and the cheese is melted. Remove the toothpicks as you go along.

Serve immediately while the bread is still hot and the cheese is melted. Don't forget the tomato soup, because these yummy little grilled cheese roll ups are perfect for dunking.

Grilled Cheese Roll Ups

8 - slices whole grain or white bread
8 - slices american cheese or cheddar cheese 
thin sliced deli ham, optional
salted butter 
toothpicks 
Tomato Soup of your choice for dipping
