Parents Everywhere: strengthen family connections

Suzette Boyette, one of the women behind The Madness of Motherhood show (LeShan was a guest on the show in 2007), filled us in on a new-to-us website called Parents Everywhere. The site strives to strengthen family connections by utilizing an incredible group of experts who provide you with timely parenting tools.

The network of shows includes everything from children's health to family vacations to living green. Though you can listen any time, you might want to regis
ter. Membership is free and benefits include:

  • Finding out how to boost your child's self-esteem
  • Learning techniques to prevent sibling rivalry
  • Learning the top 5 things you can do to avoid a cesarean delivery
  • Knowing the pros and cons of epidurals for you and your baby
  • Discovering the things to avoid to have a healthier pregnancy
  • Learning how to encourage independent thinking and problem solving skills

You also receive free attendance to informative parenting tele-seminars and can listen to exclusive recorded interviews with top experts in parenting and family issues. Plus when you register at Parents Everywhere you will receive Suzette Boyette's Top 3 Parenting Secrets, an 18-minute audio show where Suzette shares secrets to creating "magical moments" with your children.

Though you wouldn't normally think of a parenting site as worthy of a that's hot! thursday feature, but in this day and age families are more important than ever. Parents Everywhere is striving to strengthen family connections and that is (not as Paris Hilton would say) hot! --Emily

Being Healthy for Busy People

Today is a take it off tuesday kind of day and I have a great new website for you! I discovered it via Twitter (@tallivansunder is a great Twitterer to follow) and am a big fan. Being Healthy for Busy People is the perfect site for most women since 99.9% of women are super busy.

The site features a popular podcast by Talli, who has a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. "She is a physical therapist by trade. She is a health fanatic by passion. She is also a wife, mom and an all around busy person." Talli has owned her own physical therapy clinic and worked as a personal trainer. She is all about bettering the lives of clients and now she is improving the health and well being of the virtual world.

You'll find a few ways to listen to the show, and if you're more a reader than a listener (though we should all be good listeners), Being Healthy for Busy People has a blog. You'll find yourself agreeing with pretty much every post and setting new goals to be healthier and happier. Talli offers common sense to combat the craziness of fad diets and weight-loss gimmicks. Here's a taste from her recent post, "Want Something to Eat?":

If someone asks if you’re hungry and you have to think about it before answering, you’re probably not truly hungry. You’re not asking your stomach if it needs more food. You’re thinking about whether it can fit any more food.
Sound familiar? Thought so.

Being Healthy for Busy People is a great resource for busy women like myself because it reminds me that even I have time for a little health and well-being in my busy day! --Emily

so glad the girls from Whatever Hollywood don't like to wait!

You're going to love today's wonderful web wednesday. Thanks to Hungry Girl I've discovered Whatever Hollywood, a compilation of fantastically entertaining shorts all produced, directed, and starring three wonderfully talented girls:

WhateverHollywood.com is the collaboration of three creative friends, Suri, Apple and Shiloh. Though the respective TV host, actress, and singer have each enjoyed considerable success, they deplored the slow and political prototype that they call 'Hollywood 1.0.' Simply said, these girls were bad... at waiting. So Whatever Hollywood! They'd upgrade and do it themselves in their studio apartment with the help of Final Cut Pro, sparkly fabrics, low-carb pizzas and lots of enthusiasm.
Though they no longer have the help of their low-carb pizzas (find out why in Love at First Bite) the girls from Whatever Hollywood work magic in front of a green screen (aka "the green sheet" from Joanne Fabrics). With spring around the corner and thoughts of Mystic Tan in the air, enjoy Whatever Hollywood's Spray Tan Rap (and be sure to check out the behind-the-scenes short...you'll definitely laugh out loud). --Emily

*** The Girls need your vote! They are in YouTube's Sketchies2 Top 20 , the biggest sketch comedy of the year. Check out their homepage for how you can help them make the Top 10 for a chance to win some serious cash. (Think of all the low-carb pizzas they'll be able to buy on the black market!) You can vote once a day so once you've got the voting system down make it a part of your daily routine through Wednesday, March 19th. ***

become a savvy organizer

For today's wonderful web wednesday I'm totally excited to feature a new website produced by one of my favorite people over at Boutique Cafe. Daria, Boutique Cafe's podcast extraordinaire, is the producer and a contributing editor for The Savvy Organizer, a podcast that "answers the call heard around the world for organization."

Maja Russell, The Savvy Organizer's podcast hostess, was destined to be an organizational coach. Her humble beginnings, revamping her teenage friends' closets at sleepover parties, drove her to her present-day, one-on-one phone coaching and on location BLITZ visits. Maja has been a regular contributor and guest for several years on Boutique Cafe's podcasts. (BC podcasts are another must-have on your iPod!)

With practical ways to streamline your life The Savvy Organizer is readily available on your iPod or online. The site's weekly podcast features tried and tested ideas, inspiration, and suggestions for getting your life in gear. And just in time for the holidays is their latest and greatest podcast, Savvy Holiday Planning.

"Freedom from chaos is the goal!" Seems like that's a goal I set every January 1st. Maybe this year it will happen with The Savvy Organizer's help! The site also features hot products and Maja's favorite ideas for maximizing your organization at home, work, or play. Just repeat after me,
"Top to bottom, left to right, focus, focus, focus." (Maja's motto--simple yet so inspiring!) --Emily

cheap therapy!

I can't say that blogging comes as naturally to me as it does for some people, but I will give it credit as good therapy. Especially when you take into account that my best friend and business partner lives on the other side of the country...I'll take all the help I can get! That's probably why we had to create something new to add to our fun and humorous maternity tees. We thought, what goes well with humor? Well, "artistic" flare of course! The new artistic line will feature our Mama Lisa tee with a modern yet feminine touch. Our new custom tee is made of the softest pima cotton with a bit of stretch, and longer fit, so it works great with moms-to-be or moms-who-are. I personally can't wait to wear mine! Also new to georgietees, is the lap tee. We think it's nifty because it offers the same comfortable, fun tee for the growing toddler. We know your toddler is learning to express themselves, our humorous lap tees make it even easier!

Youv'e seen the latest on georgietees, now you can hear the latest. Check out our podcast with the ladies who bring us The Madness of Motherhood show. What a great experience to talk with these fun women who are mompreneurs helping other mompreneurs. They share the same ups and downs as the rest of us, and understand what it's like trying to juggle pb&j's and emails. Being a mom and trying to run a business isn't easy, but can be so rewarding. That's why we believe that humor truly is the only way to survive! --LeShan
