How to make
the whole world happy
this holiday season
We all know this truth, to make yourself happy, make others happy.
For this holiday season we propose an additional one: to make the whole world happy, make kids happy. Happy kids today, happier world tomorrow. Makes sense, right?
The gift of knowlege
Stuffing kids with sweets is one way to generate merriment, but we can do better. (See Hinduism Today's Blogs-News article:
Hindu Festival Cheer Rings Diabetes Alarm.) In his
Trilogy, Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami proposes a far sweeter gift:
Give your young ones the opportunity to learn the Eternal Truths that never fail. Help them discover the meaning in our culture, philosophy and religion. These should be clear in their minds. Then the Sanatana Dharma will belong to them, never to be lost.
Now, that is a gift! Easier said than done? We can help. Himalayan Academy was founded precisely to make Hindu teachings easily available to the modern mind, including that of young people. Check out the following:
•
all
Himalayan Academy books
•
booklets
that shed clarity on key topics

books for children
Pancha Ganapati is a Hindu holiday celebrated December 21-25 of each year. More in our next newsletter.
A new release:
Letting the kids
inspire themselves
Your kids will love these Hindu Children's Modern Stories that were gathered by Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami. Each one illustrates one of Hinduism's basic principles for a happy and satisfying life.
Children and young adults like the books' simplicity, the way they speak to them directly. Here are stories they can relate to, tales with no violence or other problematic elements.
In this series, Bodhinatha succeeds in teaching morality to children in a light hearted, pleasant way. He gives them guidelines they can grasp and hold, and which, as in the quote above, "will then belong to them, never to be lost."
