Summer of Nonfiction: Graphic Novels

Nonfiction and graphic novels is a little bit of an oxymoron. Something can’t be classified as a novel and as nonfiction, but I never quite know what to call these books – graphic nonfiction or nonfiction comics? I don’t know. What I do know is that nonfiction titles in a graphic novel format have a way of bringing people and history alive in a way that you won’t get with a typical narrative nonfiction book. These are only a few for a variety of age groups that I think people should know about. Check out my Summer of Nonfiction: Graphic Novels list at your local library or order them from your independent bookstore!

I’m so excited to try something new this summer! I’m going to be highlighting nonfiction titles for a variety of age groups and in different styles. I plan on creating lists for different age groups – picture books, middle grade, and young adult. Plus, I’d like to take a look at format as well – books filled with facts, narrative non-fiction, and graphic novel format as well.
