Rep. Omar Campaign Payments Accounted For 80% Of Husband’s Firm’s Cash E Street Group received $3.7 million from political committees this past cycle, keeping it afloat
Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) campaign payments to her husband’s consultancy firm accounted for approximately 80 percent of its cash haul during the 2020 elections, federal filings show, according to the Washington Free Beacon.
The E Street Group, a Washington, DC, consulting firm which Omar’s husband, Tim Mynett and his business partner Will Hailer own, received $3.7 million from political committees this past cycle.

“Omar’s campaign was by far its biggest moneymaker, writing more than 140 checks for a grand total of $2.9 million, or 78 percent of the firm’s payments. Its second biggest cash source was Omar mentor Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), whose campaign provided $194,000. The two combined for 85 percent of the firm’s payments,” reported the Beacon.
As a result, House Republicans, who have had plenty of distractions over the last week or so, between the Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) situation and the fate of their third-most senior lawmaker Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) introduced a bill Friday to prevent candidates from adding their spouses to the campaign payroll — dubbing it the OMAR act, according to the Washington Times.
Omar has come under increasing scrutiny for her use of Mynett’s firm, after previously large payments were also uncovered, including reports E Street Group received a significant tranche of COVID-19 relief money – to the tune of approximately $500,000.
Omar has been dogged by questions about her personal life since she first ran for state representative in 2016, with conservatives alleging she was married to Hirsi and another man at once, and that the other man was her brother.

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) has inspired new legislation after federal reports claim she funneled campaign money to her husband. GOP lawmakers are now trying to crackdown on members of Congress who funnel campaign funds to their spouses.
Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-Wis.) and Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-Wis.) recently introduced the Oversight for Members and Relatives Act or OMAR Act. The lawmakers claimed members of both parties launder money to their spouses by hiring them onto their campaigns. They believe the practice is inappropriate for people running for public office and contributes to the erosion of public trust in our government.
The bill would put an end to candidates for office tapping their campaign accounts to enrich their spouses.
It is outrageous and inappropriate for Members of Congress to convert campaign donations to personal funds in this way.

“You cross the line into the ethical and legal if there is improper use of campaign funds,” stated Minority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy.” The question is going to be whether the consultant was conducting normal, documented work at a market rate.”
The acronym suggests the bill is aimed at Democrat Rep. Omar who has come under fire for hiring her husband’s consulting firm the E Street Group. Reports from he Federal Election Committee showed her campaign paid the E Street Group nearly $3 million during the 2020 election cycle.

This reportedly contributed to nearly 80 percent of the consulting firm’s income that year. Omar claims to have been in contact with top FEC lawyers during the election cycle who assured her she was not doing anything illegal.
Republicans have been setting their sights on Omar for much of her tenure in Congress over her alleged anti-Semitic comments towards Israel. Last week, a group of Republicans in the House attempted to garner support for stripping Omar of her committee assignments, which is a similar action Democrats took towards Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.)
Meanwhile, both Democrats and Republicans have come together on the issue of channeling campaign funds to spouses. They believe correcting the practice could promote greater transparency in election finance and clean up the culture of corruption.

It’s more than that. there is evidence that Omar entered the country under an assumed name, claiming to be the daughter of people who were entering legally, which is how she was able to marry her biological brother in order to circumvent immigration laws so the brother could get into the country.
In other words, Omar obtained her citizenship illegally by claiming to be someone she isn’t. She should be arrested, stripped of the citizenship she obtained illegally, and deported to where she came from. She should not be serving in Congress as she is not a US citizen.

The democrats have been doing this kind of stuff for decades and this “Omar” character (who knows what her real name is, apparently she is here under a false identity) has been at this for many years. All of a sudden, the establishment republican party puts out this lame attempt which can’t get passed into law.
