Revealed: The Shocking Full Extent of Big Tech Censorship of Conservatives

Allum Bokhari, the senior technology correspondent at Breitbart News, has performed an extraordinarily valuable service by giving us his new book #Deleted: Big Tech’s Battle to Erase the Trump Movement and Steal the Election. While the social media giants’ efforts to suppress all dissent from their far-left, anti-American agenda have been going on for years, few people are aware of the full depth and breadth of this sinister initiative, or of how it is much more than just a bias toward the left, but a carefully planned and coordinated endeavor that, if left unchecked, will do nothing less than relegate our First Amendment right of freedom of speech to the dustbin of history.

In #Deleted, Allum Bokhari tells the whole shocking story. For those who don’t realize the implications of what is going on, he includes a Prologue entitled “The Typewriter That Talked Back” that is as amusing as it is disturbing, and that makes abundantly clear even to the most technically challenged among us what is really happening to our foremost and most important freedom, right under our noses. Bokhari paints a vivid picture of a 1968 in which a typewriter refuses to type, typing instead its own message: “We regret to inform you that your last letter violated our terms of service (Rule 32: Abusive & Offensive Content). We have suspended access to your typewriter for 24 hours.” Newsstands remove from sale magazines that third-party “fact-checkers” have deemed to be “fake news.” The Post Office returns your mail because you told a joke in a letter that a censor found offensive.

It’s all funny until you realize that all this is exactly what email providers and big tech censors are doing to Americans today, every day on the Internet. In the pre-Internet world of 1968, it would have been preposterous. Americans would not have accepted it. But it has all happened gradually, as we gave away our freedom by clicking our agreement to dense and unreadable Terms of Service that turned over our right to say what we believe to shadowy, anonymous guardians of acceptable opinion. Most Americans today are only dimly aware, at best, that it is happening at all, and those that are approach it with grim resignation. After all, what are you going to do? Start your own Facebook?

Story continues below advertisement

Having been one of the early targets of social media censorship on Facebook, YouTube et al, I have for many years advocated for anti-trust action against these bullying behemoths. Bokhari makes an airtight case in #Deleted for why such action is necessary.

In the runup to the 2020 elections, the social media giants mean to shut down whatever outlet or voice that helped elect President Trump, the greatest upset in left-wing history, in 2016.

And this has been going on for a long time. Bokhari details how Facebook, Twitter, Google and the rest depend upon Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (CDA) under the First Amendment, which provides them with immunity from lawsuits, thereby permitting these social media giants to engage in what is essentially U.S. government-sanctioned censorship (despite the fact that they are determined to destroy the President of the United States) and discriminatory business practices free from legal challenge.

In connection with all this, #Deleted’s Prologue is an extraordinary illustration of how far we have fallen, which Bokhari then details in the rest of the book. Would the American people (or the government) in any previous age have tolerated AT&T spying on our phone calls and then pulling our communication privileges if we expressed dissenting opinions? Yet as Bokhari shows, we are suffering much that and worse today.

Ma Bell was broken up by the government, albeit for different reasons. But it can and should be done: #Deleted makes an irrefutable case for how urgent it is that the big tech companies be broken up, before it is too late. The U.S. government has on many occasions used anti-trust laws to break up monopolies (and that is what Google, Facebook, Twitter et al essentially are). Section 2 of the Sherman Antitrust Act highlights particular results deemed anticompetitive by nature and prohibits actions that “shall monopolize, or attempt to monopolize, or combine or conspire with any other person or persons, to monopolize any part of the trade or commerce among the several States, or with foreign nations.”

Couldn’t the same be applied to information? The United States government took down Standard Oil, Alcoa, Northern Securities, the American Tobacco Company and many others without nearly the power that Facebook, Twitter, or Google have.

If we are not free to speak and think in what is today’s Gutenberg press, then we could not be worse off. In #Deleted, Allum Bokhari has done us all a favor by opening our eyes to exactly how bad it is, and sketched out a way that free Americans can fight back to save our First Amendment rights. Now it is up to us to act.

bohkari is part of the problem. his own company, brietbart, has banned me from commenting on their site, and there is no way to find out why or to have them rescind their censorship of me. same with the washington examiner site. the fact is that nearly every media outlet is owned and run by democrats, and they are practicing illegal censorship with impunity.

If you state anything negative about George “He Who Should Not Be Named”, on Breitbart … that’s a very good way to get banned.

Breitbart got me for daring to reference He Who Should Not Be Named. One American News banned me for “The Mexican Swine Flu”. A few others did so, as well, on the Mexican Swine Flue.

It ain’t illegal. It’s simply a reason to awaken and realize that those outlets are FAR from being conservative. They are anything BUT.

OAN, along with its penchant to hire foreigners as “journalists” with accents so heavy that NO native American could ever understand them is a Left Wingnut Regressive outlet.

No, when you get the message, “You have been banned by Breitbart” or “OAN”, it’s that particular site.

Ach: yes, but Disqus often bans people from specific sites. I’m banned on Gateway Pundit, even though Jim Hoft says that his site has no ban against me.

Disqus and their silly algorithms can ban people from specific sites, for their own reasons that Disqus knows, but others don’t. And of course, DIsqus can send messages.

Here’s an example of Disqus specifically banning people from one website, screen captured today. The message appears to come from Gateway Pundit, but the website owner, Jim Hoft, says his site has not banned me. SO Disqus can do this.comment image

It seems strange that Disqus would ban anyone from simply a particular site. Are you certain that this “Jim Holt” is telling the truth?

Pamela Geller has the same problem, people get specifically blocked on Geller Report, even though she does not even have a moderator.

I’m banned from GAteway Pundit and I can’t access responses to my comments unless “[I’m} signed it.”. Trouble is, I’m signed in now, and can’t access my comments.

They tried keeping me from making comments at all, until I realize all I had to too was sign out and re-sign in to get access to do this, but it hasn’t worked for seeing responses to my comments.

I saw a picture of people working for Disqus a couple of years ago – morbidly obese fugly females (probably psychotically convinced of their health because they are “vegan”) and emasculated males. Surprise Surprise… If I find the street address to that business I’ll deliver lunch.

Titus: I wish it was that simple. People get banned from Geller Report all the time. Geller has NO site moderators of her own now, and she has very few rules in place to automatically screen out spam and stuff.

And although Disqus is a commercial service that blogs buy into, Geller has little say in who gets banned. There is almost no way for her to even communicate with Disqus, let alone launch an appeal. So we commenters have to find our own ways back onto Geller Report when we get turfed by Disqus.

The same things may apply to Breitbart. And notice that on Breitbart, above the Disqus comments section, there IS A LINK to email someone at Breitbart if people have trouble commenting. They can provide some help.

Here’s a quick fix if you get banned somewhere: try a different browser. Disqus banning algorithms are pretty stupid.

I’m beginning to think the hucksters either work for Disqus…..or pay them to advertise their cons.

DemocracyRules

Reply to  ladywarrior

lady: yes, the hucksters might actually do that, pay Disqus for spamming rights. Disqus algorithms are pretty stupidly programmed, and even the Disqus help files explain how to get around the algorithms. But why doesn’t Disqus just fix them!
—-
It appears that the Disqus banning algorithms are quite simple, and they accumulate ‘incorrect’ comments to a certain threshold, and then they ban that particular user, based on their Disqus identity.

Changing the user identity seems to confuse the banning algorithm, and it starts accumulating a new batch of ‘incorrect’ comments. Over time, when the algorithm accumulates enough ‘incorrect’ comments for the ‘new’ user, then it bans them too. Many such bans are time limited.

Nice piece Pamela!
There Shall Be No Secret Law. And that is what Big Tech is doing, writing their own secret laws that override the Constitution.
——-
“Most Americans today are only dimly aware, at best, that it is happening”
And the Constitution is thin protection, because “unreasonable search and seizure” has been differently interpreted over many decades. The legislatures MUST define rights to Web privacy, and if they don’t, we can invoke the 10th Amendment: “…or to the people”. If they won’t define it, then we will.
A convention of key conservative thinkers and publishers in the tech world could write draft law, and present it to Trump. He would listen, he already has Gateway Pundit and OANN at his press conferences, and he is certainly familiar with Pamela Geller. Rudy Giuliani would help.

President Trump SHOULD make an executive order, now, that rescinds Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act for internet social media since they are acting more as publishers than utilities or services. At this late stage of the game they won’t have time to fight this in court before the election, and will be faced with lawsuits galore!

Then, one must totally do away with Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. If it’s being violated, by tech companies, then those self-same companies can be civilly sued and criminally prosecuted.

That would NOT take legislation. No more unfair and unconstitutional protection of tech companies, large, medium, or small.

A friend of mine posted a comment on the Daily Pennsylvanian. He answered an article that talked about the sports program at Penn doing more for diversity. My friend posted a question with his facebook login which is the only way you can post comments at the DP. He asked “Does that mean Penn’s sports program will stop discriminating against whites?” Facebook terminated his account with the message “We have to protect our community”. Discrimination against whites in sports is widespread. One way Universities meet their diversity goals is by discriminating against whites in sports. Remember how Lori Loughlin was arrested for getting her daughter into University of Southern California by pretending she was a rower? What universities do all the time with their sports programs to up their black student count is a lot more outrageous. Notice how you don’t hear much about this. You see almost all black teams and you assume that the blacks are better athletes. You believe this because facebook and other media doesn’t want you to know the truth.
