Ted Cruz is absolutely correct. The Republicans can no longer take Texas for granted. Cruz knows this to be true because he came this close to losing to the Leftist radical Beto O’Rourke. Texas has undergone significant demographic changes in the last decade. In addition, the Democrats will be spending huge amounts of money on attack ads and voter turn out campaigns in Texas. As such, Texas could flip in November if President Trump does not fight for it. It will be next to impossible for the Republicans to win a presidential election if Texas goes blue. The Republican Party must not gift Texas to the Democrats the way they did with California.

Ted Cruz on 2020 elections: ‘If Democrats win Texas, it’s all over’

Sen. Ted Cruz warned that if Republicans don’t carry the state of Texas in the 2020 election, the consequences will be devastating for the party in the long term.
“Texas is the single biggest target for the Left in 2020, politically speaking,” Cruz said on Sunday. “Texas is the key for national domination for years to come. If Democrats win Texas, it’s all over.”
Democrats have not won a statewide election in Texas since the early 1990s. A Democratic candidate for president has not won Texas since Jimmy Carter in 1976.
Carrying 38 Electoral College votes, Texas is seen as a critical must-win state for any Republican candidate for president.
President Trump currently leads presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden by an average of 0.2%, according to RealClearPolitics.
“It’s competitive, but I’m not predicting Biden will win,” John Weaver, a Texas-based Republican and a member of anti-Trump group the Lincoln Project, told the Texas Tribune. “Trump will have to spend a ton of money and come down here several times. And the Texas House is gettable for Democrats and probably two to four congressional seats.”
The Trump campaign said it is taking nothing for granted in the increasingly purple Lone Star State.
“We are doing our due diligence that we are leaving no stone unturned ahead of November, and we remain very confident that Texas will remain in Republican hands,” spokeswoman Samantha Cotten told the Texas Tribune. “We share our information. We share our data through the RNC. We’re not just helping President Trump but Republicans up and down the ballot.”
Biden has been endorsed by former Rep. Beto O’Rourke, a Democrat who nearly defeated Cruz in a Senate race in 2018.

Cruz is RIGHT about that but what the hell is HE doing about it? He doesn’t stand up for Trump. He’s as quiet as the rest of the GOPe unless it is a minor statement that would benefit HIM politically.

You got it. DEMS are more energized that ever and they have been eyeing Texas…. But no, Rafael Cruz needs to announce it instead of having a quiet meeting with Trump. He hates Trump with a passion. He is still green with envy at losing. He might as well hang out with Mittens but he’s worse. He likes to PRETEND he is a Republican. Mitt no longer pretends.

I’m not too sure of that, Texas used to be a consistently blue state up until the 1970s, and became red due to the Southward migration of people from the North, much like Florida. Everyone seems to forget that Lyndon Johnson was from Texas, first as a congressman, then as a U.S senator, then as V.P, becoming president largely because of the J.F.K assassination, and finally and a flaming “New Dealer” as well. Hispanics have always been in Texas, right from the beginning, Ted Cruz among them. Even with a growth in the hispanic population, which is not anywhere near as monolithic politically as black voters, the population there is still 70% white. Given the way that Antifa/BLM, the red guard of the Democrat party, has very unwisely taken it upon themselves to start vandalizing statues of Jesus, and the other saints, particularly in front of Catholic churches, this will not play well with Hispanic voters.
Ted Cruz is right, Texas voters must not be taken for granted, which is why they must not make the mistake of Arizona in fielding Rinos for state wide office. Beto O’Rourke came closest to defeating Ted Cruz, in part because Soros and company dumped a lot of money into the campaign, and because he was a fresh face, but it still was not exactly a Nixon-Kennedy cliff hanger of a race. This is much harder to do in a nation wide election, especially with a candidate where there is almost ZERO enthusiasm. The same talk went on in 2016 when Crooked Hillary was 16 points ahead, but then she, like Plugs Biden, didn’t campaign, campaigns do matter.
