NYC cancels parades, street fairs through the end of September

City Hall put the kibosh on the summer parade and street fair season Thursday, extending the Big Apple’s coronavirus closure of major public gatherings until at least Sept. 30.
“No, we don’t need big events anytime soon,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said on CNN. “We’ve had a lot of success making New York City healthier and we’ve got to stick to that plan.
“The kinds of gatherings we’re used to — the parades, the fairs — we just can’t have that while we’re focusing on health right now,” he added.

The shutdown will include big parades like the West Indian American Day Carnival in Brooklyn Labor Day weekend, the Dominican Day Parade in midtown Manhattan and the San Gennaro festival in Little Italy.
“We were hoping the feast would happen. But we’re not surprised,” said Mort Berkowitz, who has organized the San Gennaro Festival since 1996. “We expected it wouldn’t happen because of the coronavirus pandemic.”
“Twenty-five percent of our customers come from around the world, especially Italy,” he added. “This year they will not be coming in because of the coronavirus.
Officials will not issue any permits for events that could interfere with the city’s ‘Open Streets’ or ‘Open Restaurants’ programs, which closed off streets to automobile traffic to give New Yorkers more space to socially distance and eateries and bars space to expand their outdoor seating.
Additionally, Hizzoner said that his administration will also deny all permits for events in parks that would “unreasonably diminish public use”, street fairs, events larger than one block or for gatherings that require a sound system.
City Hall will refund or defer fees paid in connection with a denied permit.
Hizzoner’s latest order comes after officials canceled popular spring and early summer parades and festivals, including the Gotham’s landmark LGBT pride celebrations that typically happen in late June.

Brodsky is a NYC based defense analyst. He is referring to the bomb or missile strike on the Natanz centrifuge factory that was hit a few days ago. Also, there is evidence that the uranium-refining centrifuges in the tunnels below Natanz are malfunctioning at a high rate. Man would it EVER be good to see Iran disarmed.
Ultimately, New Yorkers are going to have to make a decision to vote this guy out or not. The country has seen recall elections work in recent years, if you have that option in New York. There has been significant restraint by the feds thus far, giving every chance for local driven solutions. Local control is preferable to federal if at all possible.
Things might be different in town, but once our county commissioner decided to close our rural poling station with no public hearing, due to 1 or 2 complaints about it being held in the community building at a local church. We organized the neighbors in Beat 12 and showed up en-mass at the next meeting, filling up the entire courtroom where the commission met. We peacefully stated our position and told our rep that her job was in jeopardy if they did not keep our poling place open. They took it under advisement and decided to keep it open. Do not discount the value of everyone showing up in person; you could have heard a pin drop.

Iran explosion: Panic erupts as huge third blast in three weeks rocks capital
Another deadly explosion was heard in western Tehran on Friday, according to local reports of a blast at a missile warehouse.
However, sources claim there have been more than one in multiple regions. An intelligence official told The New York Times said that Israel was possibly behind the attack.
Initial reports say the confirmed blast hit a missile warehouse belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Authorities have not yet provided any information on the cause of the blasts.
Journalist Hasan Sari claims there was more than one explosion, with others hitting the regions of Garmdareh and Quds.
Social media users have confirmed at least one of these, with one writing: “Another explosion in Iran, this time in west Tehran, causing power outage”.
This guy needs to be removed by any means necessary. He has lost his mind.
