Baltimore Mayor Gives Up, Says City Will Support Rioters After Columbus Statue Toppled

Baltimore Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young defended hoodlums who toppled a statue of Christopher Columbus on Saturday and chucked it into the city’s Inner Harbor like a piece of trash.
Folks, this is an elected official charged with protecting the city. If this were the military he would be court marshaled for dereliction of duty. This is a shameful failure on the mayor’s part to fulfill the obligations of his office. It is his duty to enforce city laws, and he has not only failed to do so, but is contributing to the lawlessness by supporting the rioters.Via spokesman Lester Davis, Young called the motion part of a “re-examination taking place nationally and globally around some of these monuments and statues that may represent different things to different people,” according to the Baltimore Sun.
So, you have a differing opinion from other people over a statue. What gives anyone the right to destroy it?
“We understand the frustrations,” Davis continued. “What the city wants to do is serve as a national model, particularly with how we’ve done with protesting. We’ve seen people who have taken to the streets, we have supported them. We are going to continue to support it. That’s a full stop.”
When Democrats make irresponsible statements like that they embolden more vandalism, more rioting, and more violence. Full stop.
I am so sick of hearing these cowardly politicians continue to call them protesters. When you topple a statue you are no longer a protester. You have graduated to a criminal or rioter.
Masked rioters, many clad in black to hide their identities, used a chain to pull the statue down while other nitwits cheered and fireworks exploded across the city to celebrate Independence Day. What a contrast.
The statue, situated near Little Italy and dedicated in 1984 by former President Ronald Reagan and former Baltimore Mayor William Donald Schaefer, is the newest memorial to the Italian explorer, who discovered the New World for Europe in 1492, to be toppled by vandals as protests sparked by the death of George Floyd turned violent and have nothing to do with Floyd. The Marxist mayor just said so.
Last month, Columbus statues in Richmond, Virginia, and Boston, Massachusetts were brought down. The Richmond statue was set on fire and thrown into a lake.The toppling of the statue was part of bigger, citywide riots, The Baltimore Sun reported:
“The Columbus statue was dragged down as people marched across the city Saturday demanding reallocation of funds from the police department to social services, a reassessment of the public education system, reparations for Black people, housing for the homeless, and the removal of all statues ‘honoring white supremacists, owners of enslaved people, perpetrators of genocide, and colonizers,’ according to a flyer.”

It wasn’t clear whether or not police had been ordered to stand down, which is customary for Democrats these days, who care nothing about people getting hurt, public property being destroyed, or local businesses being burned to the ground, as the statue was removed, but the mayor’s spokesman reportedly said police “are principally concerned with the preservation of life.”
“That is sacrosanct,” he said. “Everything else falls secondary to that, including statues.” Oh, isn’t that special?So, the city has, in essence, given up trying to protect property from savage Marxist rioters who want to turn us into another Venezuelan utopian heaven on earth.
Why politicians allowing this kind of behavior isn’t a crime denies belief in a Benevolent Being.

With regard to the many acts of mindless violence and desecration directed at statues and memorials the Marxist left don’t like {both sides of the pond these last few weeks}, perhaps it’s time to contrast and compare.
In America It’s quite wrong to either remove or destroy statues of the hero’s of the confederacy wherever they are because those memorials are to recognised troops or their leaders who went to war to defend what they regarded as their country and freedoms. As in all these cases like the fuss over slavery, it’s stupid to judge the past by the standards of today because values and beliefs today are contemporary to today and cannot reflect the tensions or pressures of centuries ago.
You can only judge the past by the standards pertaining to that time. That is fair.
In most of Europe, which is a vast area, you can see everywhere you look memorials over centuries to past battles, statues to the leaders of those times together with the graves of literally millions of soldiers, sailors and airmen who took part and fell defending causes dear to them in their time.
Now here is the point, millions of those men and their leaders are still commemorated despite fighting for beliefs,regimes, kings or emperors whose record or beliefs offended in their own times or today.
Those acres of memorials and the commorating statues are still honoured, undisturbed and not subject to noticeable vandalism or spiteful contemporary revisionism.
That is how you know the present turmoil is much more about score settling, political anarchy and the overthrow of our established values and tested order whatever the consequences for broad society. A new stick has been forged in the foundries of hate to beat us with.
The present acts of selective outrage do not deserve to be heard or rewarded by stupid acts of contrition, they need to be recognised and condemned as the acts of desecration that they truly are. Only by having the chance to compare and contrast can future students of our progress, or lack of it, come to a judgement as to how far our societies have progressed or not.
Leave the memorials alone, for the dead or slain once looked like we do and shared many of our dreams and ambitions in their time too.

Never forget the infamous Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake who announced she would give rioters room to destroy in the wake of Freddie Gray’s death. So much for the Dem canard that it takes a village to raise a child. Everyone in the village has to be an upstanding moral citizen for this to work. Just one criminal spoils the village. Every morally bankrupt public official is part of the problem.

None of the protestors and rioters (if you can find a difference) really cares that much about George Flyod other than he was killed by a known violent cop. Considering how many police there are, and daily interactions, this was a hiccup. Most cops are good, and these fools don’t understand that. Defund the police? So, who are you going to call? Ghostbusters?
The protests have turned into the mob. Antifa is directing the violence, and the p.c. are feeding the flames with their accusations and indigence over created and imagined insults to others.

I think it is a crime. At the very least it is Aiding and Abetting the crime of destruction of public property. It may also be sedition, which is federal crime. But the real problem today seems to be that the people who are responsible for arresting politicians who not only fail to defend life and property but actually encourage it don’t seem to be willing to enforce the law.

Everyone should read the first chapter of Howard Zinn’s “A Peoples History of the US.” The first paragraph of the first chapter contains an excerpt from the log book of Christopher Columbus that would make anyone ashamed of being an American. This book has been used to teach American History since the 90s:
“Arawak men and women, naked, tawny, and full of wonder, emerged from their villages onto the island’s beaches and swam out to get a closer look at the strange big boat. When Columbus and his sailors came ashore, carrying swords, speaking oddly, the Arawaks ran to greet them, brought them food, water, gifts. He later wrote of this in his log:
They … brought us parrots and balls of cotton and spears and many other things, which they exchanged for the glass beads and hawks’ bells. They willingly traded everything they owned… . They were well-built, with good bodies and handsome features…. They do not bear arms, and do not know them, for I showed them a sword, they took it by the edge and cut themselves out of ignorance. I did not realize the incredible hatred of America that was being taught to our children until after my daughter graduated from college in 2005. That is when I learned about this book and realized that it had been used to “teach” American history for years. I recently heard that much of what is in Zinn’s book has been misrepresented.

Inner Harbor’s gain is the US, MD and Baltimore public’s loss. Why the Italians in Little Italy did not come to the defense and rescue of their Columbus statue is very curious. Could it be that the many Italians who live and own businesses and the Sons of Italy there are all sequestered, depressed and filing for bankruptcy? Maybe they could just be allowing or in agreement with the same as occurred in Saint Paul, Minn., and where a likeness of Columbus was beheaded in Boston, Mass. or where another statue of the explorer was tossed into a lake in Richmond, Va. On the other hand, as much as Governor Cuomo has failed his constituents in NY, at least he defended the Manhattan, Columbus Circle statue of his countryman. Governor Cuomo’s defense of the Columbus statue should be an inspiration to all Americans who care about preserving history. Remember that historical achievements should be recorded so we can repeat them and historical errors should be recorded so we can avoid them but either way we should not erase or tear down the facts that events occurred, people prevailed and bases were laid upon which we are building our future.

Many of us Christians stood with the blacks for them to have civil rights.
We believed because God created all of us that it was immoral to hold another person back just because of skin color. We actually thought it was what was on the inside of a person and not on the outside that counted. We really believed that given the same chances that we had, they would show they weren’t inferior as the Democrats had always said they were.
Then they turned around after the Republicans got them their civil rights, cause no Democrat voted for them, and they burned us out in DC. Didn’t touch the rich Democrats, just us poor whites that did them no harm. Why?
Then we white girls that had never heard the filthy language they used, heard it when three to five of the black men would walk behind us saying those dirty things and scaring the he*ll out of us. Why?
Still we did nothing to cause them harm. The black friends we kept – until they walked away and joined their own.
Today I have watched them repeat hatred over and over again against ones who had never invaded their neighborhoods, never laid a finger on them and being blamed for every mistake they ever made.
Today, in my 80’s I am still friends with two families but why not? They are the only two black, decent families I know.
As for the rest of them? I have no respect for them whatsoever and no longer any hope for them. They have been given opportunities and turned their backs on it and few have achieved anything of value.
Then there is God. They call themselves Christian and they go right out any break five or more of the ten commandments. And they think God is going to accept them just as they are and always have been. I think they are in for one rude awakening. That use to really lay heavy on my heart but I found that they don’t care what His Word is and only care what their hate mongering preachers say. I still pray for them but my hopes have been dashed.
They have shown they appreciate nothing and no one. They want it all or no one else is suppose to have anything.
So where does their welfare checks and their entitlements come from when the keep the whites from working? It’s for sure if we can’t work to support our own we too will have to turn to welfare in time. And without our tax dollars, just who in he*ll do they think is going to support them? Oh yeah, the George Soros’ press their hands with money as long as they do their bidding but once they get the job finished, where do they think the money will come from? Are they counting on the Democrats who have been trying to take them down since the days of slavery? Well more power to them cause the Democrats haven’t given them a thing except for cheap useless words so far.
And even though they have removed the visible history of this country, they have removed nothing from the minds of the people and it will be passed down to our own. As for their own? Who cares anymore? They deserve just what they get. But I don’t think they will really get what they deserve until they stand face-to-face with the Lord and can’t BS Him.
As for Maryland. Their number one(s) are the illegals. Now their number two(s) will be the blacks. Looks like there’s no reason for us white citizens to stay around here any longer than we just have to. There’s always a black ready to buy a white persons home. Then how is Maryland going to make it without their white taxpayers? Just what do they expect to get from either the illegals or more than a few of the decent (if any are left) blacks?
As for getting the Federal Government to bail them out, they have separated their state from the Federal Government so???
In time they will all get just what they deserve. That is if they don’t kill each other off first…

Think you misunderstood. I stood with them in the late 1950’s-60’s not after that and definitely not at this late date. Those of us that had been through it before knew what to expect.
Like China, Iran and most of the area, they think much differently than we do. We have seen how little respect for life they have, especially for their own so how could they feel any different about the rest of us?
What really gets to me is how they can say (and I think believe) they are a Christian but it is not God the Creator that they worship – but they don’t seem to know that any better than Iran does. It seems their pastors (pastors?) also don’t know the one true living God but another god. Now that is awful to think about because they are one day going to stand face-to-face with Christ Jesus and be condemned and not even know why. We are suppose to pray for those like them but we can’t personally change them, only He can do that.
Yes, you and many of us have tried to warn people but seems most didn’t want to believe it. As for the whites of today standing with them, well they’ve been so brainwashed by the left, the democrats, what else could we expect?
You call it the wheel turning, in my day we simply said, what goes around comes around. We have been paid back for about 60 years for what others (not even related to us) did.
There is no forgiveness in their hearts and for that reason, God will not forgive them…

The Vatican worships Satan openly nowadays – have you heard the cantor singing in Latin, worshiping Lucifer as the son of God? So yes, you are right, most don’t want to listen. But don’t break your head about it, the Bible is clear – the gate is narrow and few will enter. I checked out the first site and zoomed in to 250. Odd how a dead mans mouth can move and even saw the tongue move once.
The the second site. And to think that my mother didn’t even want to sell cigarettes because she saw anything that could harm the body as going against God’s word. But I guess some preachers (? of the devil, maybe) need to have their congregation tipsy to deceive them.
Such a shame for there must be some there that really do seek the Lord and others that are glad to deceive themselves.

Thank you M’am – you ain’t seen nothing yet, but I don’t want to startle you. I think the alcohol case is simply a case of enjoying drinking, getting drunk and then validating your behaviour because the preacher said so. Trust me, they don’t need to be drunk to be deceived. What does the Bible say about staying sober and alert – why? Because satan is wandering around looking for prey. In the ‘resurrection’ case – this ‘pastor’ even managed to get the Metropolitan Police to escort the coffin from the parlour to the church. This is how deep the rot and corruption go. Police can’t arrest anyone for the 58 murders PER DAY (pre Covid lockdown), but they can escort a coffin to a church. One thing I’ve realised about these people, is that they are truly the opposite of everything. I’ve lived and worked most of my life in Africa and I’m now over 60 years old.
