Trump Executive Order Strips Federal Funding From Cities Who Fail To Protect Federal Monuments

By: The Daily Wire, June 28, 2020:

President Donald Trump announced late Friday that his administration would be enforcing federal provisions demanding that cities and states protect monuments paid for by the federal government and threatening those who pull down monuments with “long prison time.”

Story continues below advertisement

Trump tweeted about the executive order on Saturday, calling it a “strong” response to efforts, across the country, to pull down monuments deemed “racist” or “controversial.”

“I just had the privilege of signing a very strong Executive Order protecting American Monuments, Memorials, and Statues – and combatting recent Criminal Violence. Long prison terms for these lawless acts against our Great Country!” Trump tweeted.

As the Daily Wire reported on Sunday, Trump also tweeted out a list of fifteen individuals wanted for attempting to pull down the monument of President Andrew Jackson that stands in Lafayette Square Park near the White House.

Desecrating federal monuments is already illegal, but the executive order adds some wrinkles to existing law, including providing cities and states with additional funding and support to protect targeted monuments, and threatening those municipalities that fail to keep protesters from felling statues with a loss of federal funding.

“The new order enforces laws prohibiting the desecration of public monuments, the vandalism of government property, and recent acts of violence, withholds federal support tied to public spaces from state and local governments that have failed to protect public monuments, and withdraws federal grants for jurisdictions and law enforcement agencies that fail to stop their desecration,” Fox News reported Saturday.

Attorney General Bill Barr has also authorized a special Department of Justice task force to “share information with local and state law enforcement and [] provide training on identifying anti-government extremists, according to an internal Justice Department memo,” per Fox News.

Several major cities have had problems with protesters targeting, tagging, defacing, and even toppling monuments. Although the craze began with demonstrations targeting monuments to the Confederacy, many of them erected well after the Civil War ended, the movement has since experienced a significant mission creep and is now targeting monuments to past presidents, Catholic missionaries, and even abolitionist figures.

In a particularly heated confrontation Saturday, protesters tried to topple a statue of Abraham Lincoln, paid for by former slaves, and celebrating the Emancipation Proclamation. The demonstrators were eventually dispersed.

Several individuals have been arrested in connection with efforts to topple monuments, including six people who desecrated a statue of Confederate general Robert E. Lee, according to CNN. On Sunday, Trump also noted that “many” people are now in custody for defacing federal monuments, though he did not specify where.

“MANY people in custody, with many others being sought for Vandalization of Federal Property in Lafayette Park. 10 year prison sentences!” he said, ahead of a list of 15 “wanted” individuals.

“These arsonists, anarchists, looters, and agitators have been largely stopped,” Trump tweeted. “I am doing what is necessary to keep our communities safe — and these people will be brought to Justice!”

Nice article! It summarizes the main issues very well. As usual, Trump has a solution: Defund the co-dependent Democrat politicos who sympathize with the rioters. Communism is legal in the USA, but tyranny is not, so “The Dictatorship of the Proletariat” cannot be put into practice. It is illegal to overthrow the government by force. And Communists should expect to do their business on their own dime, not the government dime.

AS SOON as Trump issued that Executive Order, the monument destructions stopped. The Democrats love their funding.

It’s already a law not to deface monuments on federal property. Do you really think that defunding POLICE is a good idea in states wanting this chaos and destruction to continue ? DEM states are ordering police to stand down. It’s no wonder police are retiring in droves. DEM states want this to continue. Some DEM states are already defunding the police.

Trump is not significantly defunding the police, because they only get small amounts from the feds. Police budgets mainly come from state and city budgets. So while this might inconvenience some police, it will be a more serious problem for state and city Democrat politicos.

I just can’t be a blind partisan apologist on this. Explain that inconvenience to police putting up with crap before they retire early or call in with the blue flu. Good luck getting police recruits too! It’s not just the fault of the DEMS either.

When two blacks attempt to beat and rob an 88 year old woman, and she pulled out (get this) her MOTHER’S old pistol. When one of them lunged at her, she fired her pistol at the floor, hoping to scare them away.

When the poeleese arrived, the two violent thieves were still there. Who did the COWARDLY cops arrest? They arrested the 88 year old widow, May Boyce.

She had to post a $10,000.00 bond to be released, facing trial.

What harm could defunding the police actually cause?

Oh my! I know you’re serious and this must be true but you’ll have to excuse me while my head explodes again! They’ll probably convict her and put her in the COVID infection section! It’s insane.

Not sure how easy…didn’t the SCOTUS claim that the EO has to stand from a preceding President? If ubumer’s can’t be reversed then Trumps’s can’t either.

Super easy and Trump did that to lazy Obama.

If there’s a change in party affiliation. All the current President has to do is promulgate a new Order that says simply, “Previous order is hereby rescinded,” and that’s it. It looks a bit something like this: see link

Actually, it was the “court” that did not work with DACA ….., Read the Constitution – “judges” ONLY hold their office during “GOOD BEHAVIOR” ….. High Treason is NOT “good behavior” and any act against the Constitution, when one is sworn to uphold same, is “making war against the Constitution, and is, BY DEFINITION, Treason.

But who’s definition of good behavior? DACA is not a law and was never passed by the houses, which make it a policy. And the libturd judges have been legislating from the benches for years now. What gets me is when the SCOTUS won’t hear arguments from a rulings which reinforces an illegal rulings that interfere with our rights under the 2nd.

The DEMS have the majority in Congress and won’t support any legislation like this. So he is stuck with easily reversed EOs.

Do you think the word “white” will be banned soon?
Would people prefer to BLACKEN their teeth too?

L’Oreal Will Remove Words Like ‘Whitening’ from Skin Products

This is why any person with common sense who doesn’t want to see this Country, Constitution and Bill of Rights go down the toilet; needs to obstruct the vote by mail and themselves show up at the polls and vote GOP this November. There is no other option since the Dems have the taste of blood and plan to go for broke. They plan to enact every looney tune legislation they ever conceived with nutty people they have in their Party today. Saying it’s no longer John F Kennedy’s Party today is a laugh. They probably would run him out of DC and tar & feather him to boot with his conservative agenda especially on taxes. They’ll get around to his name over the next four years if they’re elected.

It doesn’t need to stand “like a LAW”, It IS a law.

Public Law 108–29 has been on the books since 2003. Even defacing a plaque carries a maximum sentence of ten years.

The question that should be asked is, why hasn’t the government been enforcing the law?

Law and order is bad. Chaos, looing, stealing, maiming and murdering is now good. It’s “patriotic”.. It’s just a “block party”.
Police are bad so they should just stand there, watch it, be abused, shot out, injured and be demoralized, retire or quit. Sarcasm off but that is what is happening. Right is wrong and wrong is right.

I would take it a step further @realDonaldTrump , Mr @POTUS Public officials who purposefully evade their duty to preserve and protect these historical Federally owned statues need to be arrested for willfully aiding and abetting the anarchists and rioters. They have Police Intel and the ability to deploy Police in numbers to prevent destruction to property if they care too.

We do need law and order. But attackers who kill or injure people on the street, or burn or loot buildings or vehicles, deserve a higher punishment and more enforcement effort than those who merely destroy monuments. The taxpayers can replace a statue.

Most places where the rioters are freely doing their thing have so called leaders that thumb their noses at Trump while their hand ts extended palm up waiting for federal money. I feel they have nothing coming in the first place and should demonstrate good will towards America by protecting the state and federal statues before they get anything.

As expected – police are retiring or quitting their jobs in the blue states where they are not permitted to do their jobs and crime is surging! Below is only for NY! You can’t blame them.

Nearly 300 NYPD Officers File for Retirement as Violent Crime Surges
By JOHN BINDER 28 Jun 2020

According to figures released to the New York Post, about 272 NYPD uniformed officers have filed for retirement since riots over the death of Minneapolis resident George Floyd began in late May. At the same time last year, about 183 officers had filed for retirement, indicating a nearly 50 percent spike in retirements this year.
One officer, who wanted to wait to retire until he hit 30 years with the NYPD, told the Post “It’s an all-out war on cops and we have no support.” More than 300 officers were injured in the recent riots.

Compared to last year at this time in NYC ->
murder has increased 50%
nurglaries more than 122%
grand larceny auto 56%

In the last week shootings have increase whopping 341%
414 % increase in shooting victims compared to the same time in 2019.
