Philadelphia officers hit with bricks, Molotov cocktails as unrest continues | LIVE COVERAGE
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — The looting continued Sunday after a peaceful protest of the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis Saturday in Center City Philadelphia turned violent with fires set and storefronts smashed.
Here are the latest updates:
6:30 p.m.: Officers hit with bricks, Molotov cocktails
Brian Abernathy, Philadelphia’s managing director, says officers have been hit with bricks, rocks and Molotov cocktails during the unrest on Sunday.“In the area of 52nd and Market streets alone we had five officers injured, four police vehicles were burned and officers were hit with bricks, rocks, and Molotov cocktails.
Managing Director Brian Abernathy said multiple officers were injured and multiple people were arrests as a second day of violence and looting erupted in Philadelphia.
Officials say National Guard troops are expected to arrive in Philadelphia on Sunday night. City officials say the guard members will act in a support role for law enforcement.
A total of 600 guardsmen were activated for support roles across the state by Gov. Tom Wolf.
6:20 p.m.: Philadelphia officials provide update on unrest in city
Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney says all city government operations will be closed on Monday, June 1.except for public safety departments“Obviously city services have been somewhat curtailed because of COVID-19, but for tomorrow June 1 all city operations except for public safety departments will be closed,” said Kenney. “We’re taking these steps out of abundance of caution. We want to ensure that our first responders have full access to all parts of the city, and all neighborhoods.”
While a curfew is now in effect until 6 a.m., Kenney urged residents to go home.
“Go home, stay home and stay safe. By staying home you’ll protect yourself your loved ones and you’ll protect our courageous first responders,” said Kenney.
Mayor Jim Kenney spoke on May 31, 2020 after two days of looting and violence in the city.
5:30 p.m. : SEPTA will shut down all service on all modes of travel at 6 p.m. tonight, Sunday, May 31. Service will remain suspended until at least 6 a.m. on Monday, June 1.

“Courageous first responders?” WTF? From what I just read the police in that state sound like a bunch of ill trained sad sacks! They need to start shooting. These riots must be smashed and those inciting as well as those comitting violence need to be charged as terrorists and sent to jail for a very long time.

I have, been about 21 years, think I been to this area. was there a bit before they tore the old stadium down, actually worked it with a labor pool just prior, doing clean up after a game. Worked at the Steele Head Grill for a bit as well. Place can be a bit crazy….and that was then….

The treasonous Commiecrats supported and financed by the globalists and the ChiComs are making their move to overthrow the Republic and Trump. The only action that can save us from total destruction and death is to be proactive, and that requires Trump to deputize his supporters to arrest and summarily execute the entire Commiecrat leadership, provocateurs, and financial supporters. Yes and NO. We need to protect our communities, NOT DO THE JOB OF THE POLICE. If they are cowards, then we will protect our own. My community has watch people that these THUGS and COMMIES will never see coming when and if they come into our neighborhoods.

Damn….come loot my home!!!! I have thousands of rounds and quite a few magazines for all of my defensive systems from .50 cal down to .22.. Time to send these criminals into the crematorium with lead poisoning!!!
