According to the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, “In the name of preserving family ‘honor,’ women and girls are shot, stoned, burned, buried alive, strangled, smothered and knifed to death with horrifying regularity.” Between 5,000 and 20,000 so-called honor killings are committed each year, based on long-held beliefs that any female who commits — or is suspected of committing — an “immoral” act should be killed to “restore honor” to her family.

But of course that number is far higher.
Because so many honor killings are never reported — and because international organizations are discouraged from keeping statistics on such politically sensitive practices — no one knows how many honor killings occur each year.
Increasing awareness of this misogynistic savagery is ‘islamophobic.’

A 13-year-old Iranian girl was beheaded by her father in an “honor killing” while she was fast asleep, prompting a national outcry, according to reports.
Romina Ashrafi was killed Thursday by Reza Ashraf as punishment for running away with a 34-year-old man from her home in Talesh, Iran International TV reported.
The teen fell in love with the older man, Bahamn Khavari, in her hometown, but her father opposed their relationship and she eloped with him, the outlet reported.
Both of their families called on authorities to have them brought home, despite the teen warning that would put her life in danger, according to the report.
She was located five days later with her lover and handed over to her father as required by Islamic Republic law, the outlet reported.
While she was asleep in a family room, her dad beheaded her with a sickle, according to the report.
Following the murder, the father showed up to the police, sickle in hand, and confessed to killing the teen, the outlet reported.
He was arrested, but the law prohibits him from facing the death penalty since he is the victim’s guardian, the report said.
Under current law, he faces a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
But the slaying has prompted Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to call on his cabinet to fast-track harsher laws against “honor killings,” which are often carried out by relatives who believe the women have gone against conservative Islamic values on love and marriage.
Her case has also provoked outcry on social media, where the hashtag #RominaAshrafi has been used thousands of times, mostly to condemn the killing.
Shahnaz Sajjadi, an aide to the president on human rights affairs, said the country “should revise the idea that home is a safe place for children and women.”
“Crimes that happen against women in the society are less than those that happen in the homes,” the aide told local media.

I blame all of them starting with Carter, the Bush’s Clinton’s and Obama prior to Trump. I remember those long gas lines and the crappy economy thanks to idiot Carter. He wouldn’t allow oil drilling either and kept us dependent on middle east oil. Carter was an idiot throughout his entire Presidency. Anyone that voted for him was also an idiot. Thankfully Reagan defeated him. Prior to Trump, Reagan was the last modern day President that didn’t sell our country out to the highest bidder and try to create thie insane one world order etc..
Carter is also another fake Christian. He may teach Sunday school class but has he ever taken the teachings seriously? Homosexuality is condemned in the Old and New Testament through prophets and apostles who spoke on behalf of God. All of it is inspired and to be used for reproof and correction, not just the parts we prefer (2 Timothy 3:16) .
We could say the same about abortion but anyone with half a working brain can surmise God wouldn’t approve of abortion or infanticide either in the Old or New Testament. If it was okay, why was He against child sacrifices to Baal? Look at God’s reaction to that. In the New Testament Christ made it clear you are not to harm children. I dare say murdering a baby goes beyond just harming a child (Matthew 18:6) No where does it explicitly state the word abortion because that word didn’t exit then. Rest assured, God doesn’t approve of it either.
Even if Trump gets a second term we have normalized way too much to continue to have staunch blessings from God. Just watch.

Felix: I guess Jimmy Carter didn’t read the Old Testament. Mosaic law is very clear about homosexuality, and its penalties. Jesus didn’t bother going through all the other 611 Jewish laws either. He didn’t need to, they were already written down.
I have my own opinions about homosexuality, but I don’t cherry pick the Bible to develop those opinions.

Me too. My guess is that their politicians are a lot like ours. Public pressure has been mounting against Islamic tyranny for a long time. In order to try to hold on to the perks of power for awhile longer you have to at least appear to bend towards your constituents a bit. Rouhani was originally considered, by Iranian standards, to be a little bit of a reformer, but he is just the President.The real power rests on the Ayatollah. I don’t see him bending at all.

In some pictures in the MSM the girl is depicted with a full hajib. The use of Photoshop shames all involved. This is not an ‘honour killing’ – brutal murder deserves no ‘honour’ – it is murder – period. It has no place in modern society. I am pretty sure I would not have killed anybody, but I would be angry as could be if my 13 year old daughter ran off with a man three times her age. If I did kill somebody, it would be this man, for taking advantage of a child.
