Governor Ron Desantis Supports Republican Convention Move To Florida

Love this. North Carolin will think twice before they’ll put a Democrat in the governor’s mansion again.

Do it! President Trump must not place any trust in North Carolina’s Democrat Governor Roy Cooper. What if Cooper were to shut down the arena before the convention is scheduled to begin? The dirty Democrats want to steal this event from the POTUS and the Republicans, because they know their convention will lack any energy. This must not be allowed.

Governor Ron Desantis Supports Republican Convention Move To Florida

By MiamiCBS, May 26, 2020

Gov. Ron DeSantis said Tuesday the political conventions for both major parties would be great for Florida’s coronavirus-damaged economy as President Donald Trump has suggested moving the planned Republican convention out of North Carolina.

“Heck, I’m a Republican, it’d be good for us to have the DNC (Democratic National Convention) in terms of the economic impact when you talk about major events like that,” DeSantis said while in Miami to announce two appointments to the Florida Supreme Court.

DeSantis was asked about Trump tweeting Monday about possibly moving the Republican convention from the Spectrum Center in Charlotte because North Carolina wasn’t reopening fast enough amid the virus.

“My posture on all this is we should try to get it done as best we can and in accordance with whatever safety requirements,” DeSantis said.

Republican Party of Florida Chairman Joe Gruters, a state senator from Sarasota, tweeted Monday in support of Florida becoming the landing spot for the late August convention.

“Florida is committed to ensuring a safe, secure and successful event for President @realDonaldTrump and all attendees,” Gruters tweeted.

Competing for Trump’s attention, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp on Tuesday sent out his own pitch for the event.

“With world-class facilities, restaurants, hotels, and workforce, Georgia would be honored to safely host the Republican National Convention,” Kemp tweeted. “We hope you will consider the Peach State, @realdonaldtrump!”

The Democratic National Convention remains scheduled for the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisc., a state that Trump narrowly won in 2016. The Florida Democratic Party declined to comment about DeSantis’ statement about welcoming the conventions.

Well, at least THAT will get Florida open, because despite the bull coming out of DeSantis’ mouth, it sure as hell ISN’T by any means open!

I know, I live there, and masks are everywhere, restaurants are mostly CLOSED, small businesses ditto, stupid rules abound.

So much for the Republicans being “different” from DemocRATS.

But WAIT!

If it’s POLITICS (a convention), watch ALL the restrictions get lifted.

Any bets?

BS. Restaurants ARE open with no restrictions, masks are optional or at the discretion of the business owners. There are NO state mandated rules keeping businesses closed. I live in Brevard county, population 601,000 and only 388 cases, 57 hospitalizations, and 12 deaths. Nobody got arrested. No cops kick down the doors of churches. No fights at the grocery store. Life went on without much disruption. I’m proud that my community followed the guidelines.

Sounds to me like you like you live in one of Florida’s blue anuses like Orlando, Jacksonville, or the SE part of the state.

Only BanLiberals can speak to this but maybe he lives in a retirement community where the risk is higher. I wouldn’t know where he lives. Disney, Universal and Sea World stated they are planning to open up on June 1st.

Private companies setting their own parameters.

The point I was making is that the state is not decreeing those dates as the OP asserted.

DeSantis won’t play games with Trump. That is the advantage for the convention to be held in FLorida over North Carolina. The convention lasts from Monday, August 24th and ends on Thursday, August 27th. Based on what we know about the Chinese virus there should be no reason not to have the state completely open for the RNC.

Florida has allot of retired elderly people and they are the ones more at risk so I can understand where there is more caution is some parts of Florida. You don’t have to be in a nursing home to be high risk. Florida is well known for retirees and being “God’s waiting room” and most of the deaths have been with older people and those with compromised health. I just hope it is not too hot and humid there for attendees.

Florida is an excellent idea…with a “blue” gov in NC there’s no telling what would happen.

Fantastic!
MOVE IT TO FLORIDA!

Why mess around with a Governor you can’t trust and hates you? Allot of time effort and money is going into this so why take a chance on him throwing in a monkey wrench to muck it up and you know he will. Tell DEM Governor Roy Asberry Cooper III to shove it and stop wasting time with him.

Crap! I wanted Texas to at least make a pitch as well. The indoor stadiums used by the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys or the Houston Texans would be perfect with their seating capacity approaching 100,000 each.

At least the RNC has mentioned them as a possibility.

False alarm. Republican Representative Louie Gohmert appeared on Fox News early this morning (Wed.) to plug having the convention here.

What a mess North Carolina is in with over 800 deaths compared to Australia’s just over 100 and population almost two and a half times the size of North Carolina. Most of Australia’s deaths came from the cruise ships spreading amongst the communities. I must say Australia is guilty of letting the passengers off the Ruby Princess. Now they allowing a meat exporting ship dock in Western Australia with eight crew infected. I am against Halal slaughter and the cruel export practice Australia allows.

Worst part about all the problems many areas have is by the left who take no action and lock up everything when action to stop infected people in.

Terrible everywhere people been subjected to Socialism lock downs and North Carolina is its own evil if they lose events and taken to Florida.

Worst part Socialism is still been pushed under our noses when many do not see it with the Social Distancing app. We still are under attack by the UN with its Agenda 2030, and with the Pope Calling for the Global Education Pact now to be held in October and the “Economy of Francesco” in November for the under 30’s in November to push everything. Sustainability to put our countries back in lock downs with attacks on nearly everything we use. Even Nuclear Power generation will be under attack as CoalmFired Power Stations. Use of many kinds of fuels all related to Carbon and that is just the starts

Our Gov. DeSantis is a reasonable man, and not just wen it comes to this “pandemic.” He is getting a lot of blame for allowing the virus into the state, but that blame comes from Democrats and is almost entirely “Sour Grapes.” (You might remember he ran against a guy named Gillum. Gillum was recently in the news after being found in a hotel room with a guy who overdosed while he lay naked on the floor, too stoned to question. The room was rented by a professional gay escort).
DeSantis took a measure rejected partailly by the previous governor and stated that “This is what the voters wanted,” when we approved the smoking of medical marijuana. The previous governor (Scott) refused to allow “smokeable” marijuana after it went to the ballot and would have required another vote, more costs, and a year delay. DeSantis simply realized he could exercize the will of the people. We had to have this vote twice, as our law required a 70% approval, and barely missed one year, but not the next.
What it amouts to is DeSantis is willing to try things for the people. Our state-wide population is greater than New York, but we have no personal income tax. (We have a sales tax). We are not rich enough to support an entire foreign country like California does, but we get by due to common sense, and no ruling class such as those found in New York or California. (The last of one was Bill Nelson, but he was replaced). DeSantis is a manager who knows how to work within a budget. There is no comparison to Newsom or Cuomo.
