Federal judge who blocked Trump’s border wall donated $20K to Obama

By Vaishnavee Sharma , Washington Examiner, May 26, 2019:

A federal judge who partially blocked President Trump’s plans to build a border wall along the United States-Mexico border previously donated almost $30,000 to former President Obama, other Democrats, and a political action committee.

Story continues below advertisement

U.S. District Court Judge Haywood Gilliam, an Obama appointee confirmed in 2014, donated $6,900 to Barack Obama’s debut campaign for president and $14,500 to his reelection campaign, according to federal election records. The same records also indicate he contributed $4,500 to the Democratic National Committee in 2012 and, between 2012 and 2015, sent $3,100 to the Covington Burling LLP PAC, which supports candidates from both parties. His contributions totaled $28,000.

Gilliam made the donations, first reported by the Epoch Times, prior to serving as a U.S. District judge. He had said during his confirmation hearing that he “would base my decisions solely on the facts of each case and the applicable precedent, without regard to any political ideology or motivation,” and that “any personal views would not interfere in any way with my ability to neutrally apply the law.”

Gilliam is one of three federal judges who have donated to Democratic candidates in the past and recently ruled against the Trump administration.

U.S. District Judge Edgardo Ramos and U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta, both Obama appointees, ruled to release Trump’s financial documents demanded by Democratic subpoenas as investigations into President Trump continue in the wake of special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation. U.S. Attorney General William Barr’s summary of the Mueller report stated that while it “does not conclude that the president committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him,” and Democrats have insisted the report provides a basis for further investigations into the Trump campaign.

Ramos, who ruled that Deutsche Bank and Capital One can provide House Democrats with Trump’s financial records, donated $4,025 to Obama’s 2008 campaign for president, and also contributed $1,000 his then rival, Hillary Clinton. He made further donations to other Democrats, such as Rep. Jim Himes, D-Conn., and Rep. Nydia Velazquez, D-N.Y., who serve on the House Financial Services and Intelligence committees. Ramos does not appear to have made political donations since being appointed to the federal court in 2011.

Mehta, who ruled against blocking a congressional committee’s subpoena of Mazars USA, Trump’s accounting firm, also donated $1,000 to Obama’s first campaign and doubled his donation for the former president’s reelection bid. Mehta also appeared to stop political donations after his 2014 federal appointment.

No coincidence.

Our legal system has been politicized. Where is the GOP in impeaching or removing these judges?
Where is the indignation by the GOP for blocking the wall?
It’s because with few exceptions, the GOP also wants Trump OUT.
Trump is doing what he can.

we elected them but they lied. they are in government for the power and the money and don’t want to give that up to a non politician, Romney is a good example of that, except for him it’s only about the power, already had the money. I think all politicians should show their tax returns every year, after all, we pay their salaries. I’d like to see just how wealthy they have become since getting elected.

YOU elected Trump and he lied over two hundred tomes swearing Mexico would pay 100% for the wall. You dead politicians show taxes but completely ignore Trump promised to show his taxes and is now breaking the law refusing to honor a legal request to turn over his taxes. You want to see how everyone became wealthy but Trump. You are a perfect example of how the right wing has made Trump double standard hypocrisy a messianic cult religion.

U.S. District Judge Haywood Gilliam Jr. (nominated by Obama) on Friday immediately halted the administration’s efforts to redirect military-designated funds to build sections of wall on the Mexican border.

Congress and the District courts have NO STANDING over a executive branch national security matter.

Idiot Trump fails to use his Constitutional Commander In Chief powers and plays the fool to a leftist Congress and District Courts when he does not have to.

The SCOTUS would back Trump up, but the fool will not go there.

Who has been advising Trump the last 2 years? Carrot Top?

Quite true. … As a federal judge once told me …

A retired US Federal Judge is the closest thing to a “god” you can find in America. …

The comment was not offered to be arrogant. He said it as a critical remark about his colleagues. They have lost sight of their respect for the law … but also for their fiduciary duty to the community they serve and to nation at large.

I wish I had a simple answer for the “judge” problem – but I don’t.

As with so many things that are wrong about the government – the real issue is the personnel as much as it is the rules, the procedures, or the law.

These people have to go … but the trouble is … who are we going to replace them with?

The bozos coming out of law school today are pro-criminal Leftists who hate the community *plus* they are ignorant and they’re idiots.

They don’t know anything, and they’re not smart enough to be called liars … cause they are too stupid to know they’re repeating lies.

It’s enough to make one rip one’s hair out …

Have a great week Hans, hope you and yours had a great weekend, and thank you for enduring my ranting … 😉

Yes, it will get worse before it gets better, but …

Be of good cheer … our side has truth, justice, and the Lord is on our side …

We also have Santa Claus. 😉

And I believe most of us would make the right decisions if told the truth …

That’s why the Left must silence us.

We will win. The fight is all about how much of our time, treasure, and blood the Left will spill before they are defeated.

The first motion to file when this case was filed should have been a motion to recuse the judge from hearing the case based on a well known political bias. Of course, the judge would deny the motion which can then be appealed to the Senior District Judge and then to the court of appeals and then to SCOTUS. In the meantime, the case is delayed and the wall is built and the issue becomes moot. Whoever is running these cases in the DOJ are fools ot embedded Obama agents.

So much for impartiality. The system isn’t perfect and because of actions like this from a bias person in authority he needs to be removed from the bench with out a pension as a warning to others that this type of behavior will not be tolerated.
