Here’s the story, about an underwater art gallery in the Maldives destroyed by cops after the President declares it “offensive to Islam.”
The British-designed installation at the Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi resort was destroyed after being criticised by religious leaders in the country.
Pickaxe-wielding policemen have demolished a semi-submerged art gallery in the Maldives for being “offensive to Islam.”

The Coralarium was designed by British artist Jason deCaires Taylor and allowed guests at the island hotel to swim from the shore to the underwater gallery.
Outgoing president Abdulla Yameen ordered the removal and destruction of the sculptures, deeming them “idols” which are banned by the religion.
This is despite the statues having no religious meaning whatsoever.
The gallery structure was designed to act as a sheltered space offering a sanctuary for fish and other sea-life.
In the evening, a light system illuminated the gallery attracting underwater critters and creating an impressive sight for guests.
But Yameen said in July that there was “significant public sentiment” against the Coralarium, making him decide to raze the structure.
There is a profound misunderstanding in this story about this destruction of statues in the Maldives. The writer appears to think that the statues in question were destroyed “despite having no religious meaning whatsoever.” But they did have significance, a negative significance, for the religion of Islam. In a famous hadith, Muhammad says that “Angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture” (Muslim 5249). The word “picture” has been interpreted to cover any images or representations of living creatures, including statues. These statues did not merely offend Muslims in the Maldives. They offended Muslims everywhere, whether they were seen as pictures, forbidden by that hadith, or as idols, forbidden by the Qur’an. It was enough that they were statues — they need not have been Christian or Hindu or Buddhist in content — to violate the tenets of Islam. They were destroyed simply for being statues.
Yet not a single one of the stories in the world media about this destruction mentions anything about that hadith forbidding “pictures,” or those Qur’anic passages that forbid the worship of idols. One is left with the impression that the Maldivian president was merely enforcing his own personal and supposedly “extremist” dislike. But there was nothing extreme about it. He was being a good Muslim, enforcing the perfectly orthodox prohibition on pictures and on idols.
It would have been useful if even just one of the reports on the Maldives destruction had allude to, or even better quoted in their entirety, the relevant hadith against “pictures” so that non-Muslims could be made aware of how a single line uttered by Mohammad came to limit the artistic expressiveness of an entire civilization. For 1,400 years Muslims have been unable to paint portraits or to sculpt statues. Just as bad, they have destroyed the statuary of other religions. Sometimes the destruction has been complete: Tens of thousands of statues, Hindu and Buddhist, were destroyed by the Muslim conquerors of India. In Egypt, it was enough to knock the nose off the Sphinx to render the face no longer human. Christian saints would have their eyes gouged out, or endure some other defacement, which would be enough to render the statue, as far as Muslims were concerned, no longer that of a living creature. The last notable achievement in this line was the destruction by the Muslim Afghans of the two giant Bamiyan Buddhas in 2001. What took them so long? you might wonder. It was not out of any sense that these enormous works deserved to be spared. It was just that until then the Afghans hadn’t the means to destroy those statues, but in 2001, with enough dynamite available, and Pakistani engineers to help, they were finally able to blow up those Buddhas.
The statues smashed to smithereens in the Maldives were less impressive in every way than the Bamiyan Buddhas, but the Islamic prohibition that condemned them was the same. And it is that prohibition, and not some reigning official’s personal whim, that explains their destruction this September. The only surprising thing in this tale is why the Maldivians allowed those statues to be built and placed underwater in shore cages in the first place. Possibly out of a desire to please Western tourists, they briefly put aside their Islamic principles. But now, with the destruction by pickaxe of those subaqueous statues — smash! crash! — they have clearly found those principles once again.

No, Allah. Don’t stick every evil religion with the “opposition god” of yours. Religions are perfectly capable of being EVIL on their own. Gods are all-powerful imaginary beings given to doing anything they damn well please to demonstrate their absolute power to their followers. I seem to remember one who allegedly tricked a man into believing he had to sacrifice his own son to please the god. Quite a frequent storyline, in fact.

Christians believe Christ is God in the flesh. In the Old and New Testament it is taught, the wages of sin is death. Christians see Christ as their Messiah. Jews don’t.

Christ came here to offer Himself as a sacrifice for our sins since not one of us is perfect. He overcame death as a TRUE God would. You can’t murder or kill a genuine God. God is always in control. All He asks is to follow His teachings and put your trust/faith in Him. The Judeo Christian God stands for goodness and love. Islam stands for death and evil. You might want to lose your bitterness and cynicism and look into Him. You have no peace. I do have peace. I believe in Christ who is ETERNAL. He overcame death as a TRUE GOD would and FAKE GODS can’t.
Some teachings of ISLAM that are clearly followed based on headlines. In fact, take a verse and match it to a headline. You will find none of this advocated for in the Bible.

2) Make war on the infidels living in your neighborhood. Qur’an 9:123
3) Any religion other than Islam is not acceptable. Qur’an 3:85

5) Maim and crucify the infidels if they criticize Islam. Qur’an 5:33
6) The infidels are unclean; do not let them into a mosque. Qur’an 9:28
7) Punish the unbelievers with garments of fire, hooked iron rods, boiling water; melt their skin and bellies. Qur’an 22:19
8) Do not hanker for peace with the infidels; behead them when you catch them. Qur’an 47:4
9) The unbelievers are stupid; urge the Muslims to fight them. Qur’an 8:65
10) Muslims must not take the infidels as friends. Qur’an 3:28
11) Terrorize and behead those who believe in scriptures other than the Qur’an.

12) Muslims must muster all weapons to terrorize the infidels. Qur’an 8:60

These people annoy me. IF they want to be atheists, fine – BE ONE! It’s a choice!
They need to stop blaming others for their jaded worldview. I don’t go out of my way to attack atheists. It’s always more convenient for these types to broad brush all religions as evil to justify their atheism. It makes them feel better.
Why bother others that do believe? Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists are not the ones running around blowing themselves up or unable to live around someone of a different faith. It is MUSLIMS that can’t live with others. Even within Muslim sects, Sunni, Shia to name two of them, they can’t coexist in peace. Anywhere Muslims are there is death and conflict unless it is the same sect and then you have an oppressed life with hideous punishments etc..

I think that when it comes to religions, one should look at those that have caused the greatest harm, in loss of life and in causing suffering, as those to avoid. Out of Buddhism, Animism, Judaism, Hinduism, Christianity, mohammedanism and Atheism … two spring forth as the worst.
Number one is mohammedanism, estimated to have been the cause of over three hundred million humans being murdered and unbelievable suffering.
Coming in as Number Two, is Atheism, which is responsible for the loss of over One Hundred Twenty Million Lives, staged famines, tortures, and imprisonment.
So, if humankind could just take out moslems and atheists, it would make for a much better world.

The deeper meaning of this destructive conduct is what it all means to free world societies. It is more of the evidence that this belief system (Islam) is totally inconsistent with western culture. It means that these believers accept a belief system that is so diametrically opposed to everything that we in the free world consider sacrosanct, that they simply do not belong here. It is as simple as that! When and what will it take to recognize those facts of life. “Political incorrectness” which is the inability of our leaders to accept the fact that Islamic believers need to be recognized for what they are, and we have to stop avoiding facing the reality of what they are, and stop always worrying inappropriately that we might be insulting them, as the truth is they will ultimately stand against everything we American’s treasure.

Muslims are nothing but destroyers. Anything that doesn’t conform to their barbaric book is ‘evil’ and needs to be eliminated. If they had their way, the whole world would look like Syria or Gaza. They won’t be happy until we’re all as miserable and full of hate as they are.
The Maldives were an island chain that once belonged to Indians until the Muslims invaded and they gave up control. If Indians had any brains and guts, they would’ve removed the Muslims from their country and taken back their territory. Well if it’s any consolation soon they’ll be under the boot of China or Pakistan.
Islam/Muslims do nothing but ruin advanced nations and civilizations. They’re a pestilence and a scourge. If we had any common sense we’d send them all back to their Islamic states and keep them out.

Let them destroy the art in their own country. Let them live without music, without art, without the cinema. Let them live in a gray world with no color. Or, God forbid, any fun at all. “Civilisation”?

What they leave out is that the mosque existed for over 250 years
without being bathed in that mesmerizing blue light – until an American,
Thomas Edison, invented electricity which the stunted-thinking Muslims
could appropriate.
Islam will always be like that. Dubai brags that it has the world’s tallest
skyscraper. But the Muslims there would still be dwelling in tents if Dubai
hadn’t appropriated EVERYTHING about building a skyscraper from the
West. Their religion/political Sharia does not allow them to question,
learn and evolve. They are allowed to lie (Taquiya) and obviously to
steal the achievements of others.
The underwater gallery in the Maldives was bathed in light attracting sea
creatures and providing a beautiful spectacle for guests. The stunted-
thinking Muslims smashed the statues but will keep the electricity. Even
so – if backward Islam ever gains the upper hand, the world will face a
thousand years of darkness.

This is a perfect example of why I have never understood the French being such wimps. They know they have placed their galleries and all the art within in danger. They have also placed architectural artwork in danger just to give the appearance of being politically correct. They have allowed their country to be overrun by Muslims who feel it is their duty to destroy art. Muslims are destroyers and liars. They enslave, rape, and kill with abandon yet those who shield Muslims claim to be enlightened in doing so. it is sheer and utter madness.

The day after the destruction of the Bamiyan Bhuddahs the world should have realized that islam should be proscribed from all civilized countries:

• Tawriya: deceit by ambiguity.
• Taysir: deceit through facilitation
(not having to observe all the tenets of Sharia).
• Darura: deceit through necessity (to engage in something “Haram” or forbidden).
• Muruna: the temporary suspension of Sharia in order that Muslim immigrants appear “moderate”.
