Iran builds fake US aircraft carrier to practice blowing it up

A mock up of a U.S. Nimitz-class aircraft carrier has appeared in the waters off the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas, as tensions with U.S. Navy warships near the Persian Gulf have risen in recent weeks.
Satellite images obtained by The Associated Press Tuesday show the model of the U.S. style aircraft carrier, complete with 16 mock up fighter jets on the deck. The model carrier measures in at about 200 meters (650 feet) long and 50 meters (160 feet) wide, while a real Nimitz class carrier is about 300 meters (980 feet) long and 75 meters (245 feet) wide.
Story continues below advertisementIranian officials have not yet acknowledged the existence of the mock up aircraft carrier, but the model appears similar in design and purpose to another mock up aircraft carrier created for target practice in 2015. The February 2015 “Great Prophet 9” war game saw Iran’s paramilitary Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) speedboats swarm at the mock up while firing machine guns and rockets. The model carrier was then sank by surface-to-sea missiles.“American aircraft carriers are very big ammunition depots housing a lot of missiles, rockets, torpedoes and everything else,” the IRGC’s then-navy chief Adm. Ali Fadavi, said on state television at the time of the 2015 war game.
The model carrier is currently positioned just offshore from the same port parking lot where it unveiled 112 new speedboats. Those new boats were described as missile boats and fast attack craft. The proximity between the mock up and the newly announced speedboats further suggests the fake aircraft carrier is destined to come under heavy Iranian rocket and machine-gun fire.
U.S. and Iranian vessels have had increasing contact in the Persian Gulf and the narrow Strait of Hormuz, from which 20 percent of the world’s oil supply passes.

That’s a good start Iran. Now you just need to build the fake battlegroup that surrounds the carrier along with the aircraft and practice blowing all of that up too.
After that do it all over again while being shot at by thousands of 5 inch, 30 mm, surface to surface, air to surface, air to air and surface to air projectiles while having your Navy bases getting smoked by drones, B2’s and tomahawks while all your comms are shut down.

Iran has a tiny navy anyway, mostly just speed boats. Israeli hackers just did major damage to Bandar Abbas, the key Iranian port on the Hormuz straight. Israel keeps blowing the hell out of Iranian bases in Syria. The Iranian economic meltdown continues, with tiny oil revenue, and Covid-19 still rampant. Big crisis there last few days, as Iran tries to break out on nukes, IAEA catches them, Europe panics, Trump says, “I told you so”.

Well yes, the Iranians are just silly. Very poor at consequential thinking. If they actually provoked a war, the Mullahs would be obliterated personally within hours. The US military is far past the point where land invasions are necessary. Now, massive, punctuate firepower can be focused on a few square inches, or a parliament building, or a presidential residence, preserving the bystanders. Conventional Prompt Global Strike uses kinetic bombardment and other methods to create meteor-type craters on demand, anywhere on earth, within on hour. And yes, it is already hypersonic, and yes, Trump would do that. That’s why the Mullahs are stupid to tempt him.

This rests upon Obama (and by default, Biden). When a US military boat was hijacked in international waters, Obama gave them the orders to stand down rather than defend themselves. Lots of secret military technology was on board. The US sailors were forced to apologise before being released. Why surrender when you have much more firepower than the two Iranian speedboats coming to collect you? Then there were the pallets of money flown in to Iran, just paying for more terrorism and the Iranian military.
Now we have Biden and Pelosi, Schumer et al from the Dems who want to give Iran $5 billion in aid while wanting to cut ties with Israel. Oh yes, end the embargo and sanctions against Iran, too.
Now the practice target ships. Good thing that the targets don’t have the ability to shoot back otherwise the Iranian air and naval forces would be decimated. BTW, with all the starvation, dying economy, people demanding government assistance, how come Iran have funds to build this mockup ship? It doesn’t need financial aid as the Dems bemoan. Then again, the money doesn’t come from the Dems themselves, and if it turns out to be a big mistake, its an “ooopsie” moment and of course the fault of Trump.
Why do the Iranians believe that bluster and destroying decoys is the same as a full scale attack? Haven’t the Iranian leadership taken a look at reality and figured out how much force and weaponry is placed with an aircraft carrier flotilla? The Iranians can’t even have a military parade without it scattering like fools when a few civilians take a few pot shots at it: firecrackers and 500 men running in all directions leaving their rifles behind.

Pretty funny. Do they think shooting a large hollow hull, scares us? Do they think this prepares them? As one other reader stated, it would be a different outcome in reality. Please Iran. Please try and attack a carrier and its accompanying battle group. I wonder how fast we could sink all 112 speed boats while simultaneously obliterating, ports, bases, communications and their leaders? Any bets? 45 minutes- 30. Too long?
