The NYPD’s top uniformed cop talked to the Post in an exclusive interview Tuesday about how his cops have been “giving their blood” as they’ve responded to protests that have become increasingly violent over the past five days and raged against Governor Andrew Cuomo’s criticismof his department.
Chief Terence Monahan said he had slept for only three hours since the fifth night of protests and that all his guys are “cut up” from struggling with troublemakers in the city.
“Our guys are tired, they’re bleeding,” Monahan said. “I think everyone you’re going to see is walking around cut up. But they’re out there again tonight. They’re out there giving their blood to keep this city safe.”
Despite the cops’ efforts, “just about all” of those arrested will be back out on the streets because of bail reform, Monahan said, noting that some people arrested for guns might remain behind bars.
“But when it comes to a burglary, which is a commercial store, which is looting, they’re back out,” he said. “Because of bail reform you’re back out on the street the next day. You cannot be held on any sort of bail. I spoke to (Manhattan District Attorney) Cy Vance about that. He told me there was nothing he could do.”
Asked about Cuomo’s comments that the NYPD wasn’t doing its job, Monahan, who joined the NYPD 38 years ago, said he was “extremely outraged.”
“I’m watching my men and women out there dealing with stuff that no cop should ever have to deal with, bricks, bottles, rocks,” he said. “Hit in the face with bottles and continuing to go forward to make an arrest.”Monahan praised the NYPD leadership for being out in the street with their men.
“This leadership team from every angle of this department is out on the streets, working side by side with their men and for a Governor to be sitting in his office saying that we’re not doing a good job — I’m outraged,” he charged.
Even Monahan, a Bronx native, was out on the street Monday night — and ended up with gauze on his elbow.
“A group of looters last night running through the streets,” he said. “We have to grab them. I went down, went over, hit by a bike, went down, covered my arm up with blood. But we locked ’em up.”
Monahan said he’d been involved in similar incidents over the years, but noted: “I’ve never seen anything like this.”

At the same time President Trump was visiting St. Johns’, candidate Joe Biden was visiting Bethel AME church in Wilmington, Delaware, and the media were very careful to avoid labeling this captured moment:
James Clyburn aligned his network with Barack Obama’s Chicago machine there has been a strategy at work.
Clyburn uses the old-fashioned racial playbook through the AME church network. The AME network includes Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. Meanwhile Obama historically used the modern race-based network: the Nation of Islam and New Black Panther Party. The NoI and NBPP are also allied with DNC Chairman Tom Perez.
Biden’s election campaign team headed by James Clyburn. The woman in green, Symone D. Sanders, wrote the book, , No, You Shut Up! She is Biden’s main spokesperson.
Tom Perez was the head of the DOJ Civil Rights Division… which is not coincidental because the election of 2020 is the second time both networks have merged upon, and attempted to activate, the Black Lives Matter crowd. The first time they merged was in Orlando and Miami during the 2012 “Justice for Trayvon” movement.
Black Lives Matter came out of the organization known as “The Dream Defenders”. The defenders were the younger generational version of the civil rights AME network.
In 2012/2013 President Obama and Tom Perez were able to blend the Dream Defenders into an alignment with Farakahan, the Nation of Islam, and the New Black Panther Party.
As an outcome of a more bitter ideology, the Dream Defenders became more antagonistic and combative when they launched the rebranded version, ‘Black Lives Matter’.
