Biden Nominee Thinks US Elections Are Anti-Democratic

President Biden’s selection for a Manhattan federal bench spot once called the Electoral College and the Senate “anti-democratic,” according to a report.

Video shows Dale Ho, who has been called upon to serve as a federal judge for the Southern District of New York, saying what he said in 2018, according to Fox News.

“We [have] obviously lots of practices that are anti-democratic, that entrench in some ways minority rule in this country, and I’m talking about things like, you know, the Senate, the Electoral College, and the maldistribution of political power that results from those institutions,” Ho said during the National Civic Leadership Training Summit, the report said.

Ho, director of the American Civil Liberties Union’s voting rights project, added that the government should be working to make “voting easier.”

He also called out “long-standing barriers” like “felon disenfranchisement” that take “the right to vote from people because of a criminal conviction.”

At his confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee earlier this month,Republicans pressed Ho, 44, on tweets in which he criticized GOP senators during the TrumpAdministration. Ho admitted the tenor of those posts was over the line.

“I very much regret the tone that I’ve taken on social media from time to time, particularly if it’s given anyone the impression that I wouldn’t be impartial,” he said.

Despite the apology, the Utah senator still branded the lawyer for showing “open contempt for the Constitution” and suggested he not be confirmed to New York’s Southern District Court, Fox News reported.

Ho’s tweets singled out Republican Sens. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, Mike Lee of Utah, and Tom Cotton of Arkansas, all of whom sit on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Lee asked Ho about a tweet in which he blamedRepublicans for depending on a conservative majority on the Supreme Court, claiming that the “Electoral College, Senate malapportionment and extreme gerrymandering” were not enough for the GOP to thwart Democrats’ policies.

Lee asked Ho what he suggested by “Senate malapportionment.”

Ho said he responded to news reports about some state legislatures making voting changes.

“State legislators even before the election were contemplating fabricating some sort of pretext by which they could ignore their state’s own votes forpresident and directly select their presidential electors,” he said.

At the hearing, Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) said he wouldn’t support Ho’s nomination.

“Mr. Ho, you’re a smart man. I can tell. But I think you’re an angry man,” he told Ho. “We don’t need federal judges who are angry. We need federal judges who are fair and can see both points of view.”
