Texas city says it doesn’t have authority to prevent migrants who test positive from traveling elsewhere

More than 100 illegal immigrants released by the Border Patrol into Texas since late January have tested positive for the coronavirus following their arrival, officials in a city on the U.S.-Mexico border tell Fox News.
Felipe Romero, a spokesperson for Brownsville, said Wednesday that the 108 positives represent 6.3% of the number of total migrants who have been rapid-tested at the city’s main bus station, where they are being released by the Border Patrol. Rapid testing of the individuals began there on Jan. 25.
He added that Brownsville does not have the authority to prevent those who test positive from traveling elsewhere in the U.S. — and are advising them to quarantine, follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and socially distance
Sources at the White House told Fox News on Wednesday it is aware of instances where individuals may continue to travel despite testing positive and being told to quarantine — yet the federal guidance remains for them to isolate.
The sources said the coronavirus testing near the border is being handled by state and local governments in conjunction with non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
The city of Brownsville also told Noticias Telemundo Investiga that it is advising migrants who test positive to go to NGOs and nonprofits in the area for help with finding shelter and places they can isolate themselves from others. The local county-wide positivity rate is estimated to be 13.8%.
Migrant families who tested positive and spoke to that news organization at the bus station said they were waiting to travel to places such as Maryland and New Jersey.

“On the way, we were wearing a mask all the time, gel, washing our hands,” Eva Orellana, a 29-year-old from Honduras who came to the U.S. with her 3-year-old daughter, told Noticias Telemundo Investiga.
She added that she was going to take a bus to North Carolina and had purchased tickets.
“Really, I don’t feel anything,” she said.
Miriam Izaguirre, a 35-year-old from Honduras who also tested positive, told Noticias Telemundo Investiga that she planned to travel by bus to Houston.
“Right now we were tested for Covid and they separated about eight of us because we were positive,” she said. “We are waiting right now.”
Migrants also said they were told of their positive test result by station workers, but were not provided any documents noting so, Noticias Telemundo Investiga reports. They simply were told to stand in a different waiting area from other individuals, it added.
A worker at a bus company that operates out of the station told the news organization they cannot ask passengers for proof of coronavirus test results before boarding.

she didn`t comprehend Christianity anymore than you or about all preachers. I agree w/ her assessment and conclusions up to a point. Jesus taught God`s Perfect Law of Liberty. That Law does not subject men to mans(preachers) law. No where does The Bible state to die on a cross for others. We are not our brothers keeper. Jesus Christ did not come to earth to preach and promote the American way of life, to preach and promote capitalism. Nope, the essential message of Christianity is this, man is a fallen, depraved, sinful, creature, by virtue of being born man, by virtue of Original Sin. Life on earth is not to be enjoyed, life on earth is your punishment and atonement for disobeying God. The purpose of life on earth is to accept your punishment and prepare yourself for death, through suffering and self-sacrifice, because only by suffering your punishment until you die can you hope to enter the Kingdom of God which is not of this earth.
Jesus Christ was born of a Virgin Birth, why? Because according to religion sex is unspiritual, carnal, dirty and sinful, the highest ideal is to be born without the ugly, dirty, degrading, act of sexual intercourse. Jesus Christ was a virginal, celibate monk, rejecting the pleasures of earthly life, asking his followers to do the same and prepare themselves for the true life, life after death, in another world not of this earth. A serious, fully invested, fully dedicated Christian, like Mother Teresa for example, understands what serious Christianity demands. You on the other hand, are selfishly shirking and compromising on the message of Christ.

This is hilarious. Why? Because I was in a store in PA two weeks ago and I forgot to put on my mask that was in my pocket. An hysterical lady (liberal of course by all the usual markers) got right into my face and screamed literally at the top of her lungs how I was breaking the law and how she was “exposed” before and how I was threatening her life. I was so shocked I told her: “Excuse, me, I will put on my mask, I forgot it, but DO YOU HAVE TO SCREAM AND YELL LIKE A BANSHEE? A polite reminder would have prevented me from telling you to GO TO HELL!”
I can’t wait to see what the liberal crybabies will do with this story!

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin, however, defended the screenings as “science-based”
The tests are “in accordance with the changes in the epidemic situation as well as relevant laws and regulations,” he said.

The pope’s audience consisted of participants in a meeting of members of the Laudato Sì community, named after the pontiff’s 2015 encyclical letter on the environment, which bears the same name.
“We need a real will to tackle the root causes of the ongoing climate upheavals,” Francis insisted. “Generic commitments are not enough — words, words.”

This time, it is climate change rather than God’s wrath at the unbridled licentiousness of humanity to blame. According to Pope Francis, humanity should pay more attention to global warming, corruption, and injustice. The head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis, has warned mankind about a looming calamity, namely the second “great flood”.
The 84-year-old pontiff said that unlike the previous Biblical flood, which was unleashed by God to bring justice and to “cleanse”, the second flood would be caused by climate change.

Having ruminated on the biblical flood, Pope Francis calls on humanity to consider a rise in temperatures and the melting of glaciers as a serious threat, before it is too late, the excerpt read. Daughter takes second job washing dishes & mopping floors at nursing home to see dad (MN)
STILLWATER, Minn. — In a year when nursing home windows have been as close as many people could come to parents and grandparents, Lisa Racine punched her ticket to see her dad inside. “I was shocked, really. I was kind of dumbfounded,” Harold Racine, Lisa’s dad, says of the moment his daughter walked into his nursing home room. “How did you get in?” he asked.
Last fall, Lisa, a fulltime project manager for a printing company, had a brainstorm.
“One day I just was thinking, ‘How can I see my dad more?’” Lisa recalls. “And I thought, ‘Hey, why don’t I get a job there?’”
As luck would have it, Good Samaritan Society – Stillwater was hiring.
Let’s just say it wasn’t an executive position.
Since December, Lisa has been mopping floors and scraping plates in the nursing home kitchen.
“It’s quite glamorous,” she laughs.

The White House raised eyebrows on Wednesday when it suddenly cut the feed of a virtual event after President Biden said he was “happy to take questions” from Democratic lawmakers.
Accompanied by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. and the House Democratic Caucus, Biden addressed lawmakers on the topics of COVID relief and the ongoing vaccine rollout. He closed his remarks by calling on Democrats to help “restore faith” in government.
He then appeared ready to take questions.
“I’d be happy to take questions if that’s what I’m supposed to do, Nance,” Biden told the speaker. “Whatever you want me to do.”
The feed ended seconds later, after a brief pause from the president.
The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.
While Biden was poised to take questions from lawmakers, the president faced growing criticism for not holding a formal press conference in the six weeks since taking office.
The rare instances where Biden does take questions are often limited to queries from pre-selected reporters.
