Joe Biden Marks 3rd Anniversary of Parkland Shooting with Gun Control Push

3:09Story continues below advertisementPresident Joe Biden marked February 14, 2021–the third anniversary of the Parkland school shooting–by calling on Congress to pass more gun control.
He used a tweet to recount the heinous attack, writing, “In seconds, the lives of dozens of families, and the life of an American community, was changed forever.”
Biden referenced the “lone gunman [who] took the lives of 14 students and three educators” and also directed attention toward violence in certain cities across America. He suggested singled out the “gun violence disproportionately devastating Black and Brown individuals in our cities.”
He concluded, in part, by writing:
Today, I am calling on Congress to enact commonsense gun law reforms, including requiring background checks on all gun sales, banning assault weapons and high capacity magazines, and eliminating immunity for gun manufacturers who knowingly put weapons of war on our streets.
A number of things needs to be noted.
First, the Parkland shooter acquired his gun “legally,” according to USA Today. That terminology means he went through a background check, so expanding checks from retail alone to retail and private sales would have done nothing to prevent the attack.
Secondly, the Parkland attack was not carried out “in seconds.” Rather, ABC News reported that the gunman had enough time to “[stop] firing five times to reload his” firearm.
In fact, the Atlanta Constitution-Journal reported the length of the attack at “six minutes.”
This means the attacker could have caused mayhem with any size magazine–he could swap empty mags for full ones–because he had time.
When the commission investigating the Parkland shooting put forward its findings, one key suggestion was to enable teachers to be armed so any future, would-be attacker, would not have the benefit of carrying out his evil deeds without armed response. On January 3, 2019, Breitbart News noted that the commission’s report recommended that teachers “who volunteer to undergo firearms training, should be allowed to carry guns.”
But Biden has made clear no federal funds will be used to train teachers to use guns for classroom defense.
Moreover, Biden mentioned the cities where gun violence is surging but did not note that some of the most violent cities already have the controls he wants federally.
For example, South L.A. saw a 742 percent surge in shooting victims during the first 16 days of 2021, although California has universal background checks and “assault weapons” ban.

Since the 2nd’s purpose is to have a well regulated Militia, and the militia is the whole of the people “save for a few public servants,” the “arms” would especially include military weapons, including bayonets.
To understand the meaning of a “well regulated militia” you have to understand the problems which Washington had with militias, like lack of discipline, and being poorly armed with antiquated weapons and no bayonet, and moreover, no bayonet mount. When the redcoats took over Boston, one of the things they tried to ban and confiscate was bayonets. When they went to Concord, the redcoats were looking to confiscate muskets, bullets, power, bayonets, cannon, cannon ammo, and cannon powder. Do you think that when they wrote the 2nd Amendment that they were for the confiscation of any of this stuff? Please.

I recently saw a show on National Geographic that reported in 2019, Tijuana, Mexico had over 1600 homicides and it might have been closer to 2000 and that’s considering the local police across all the border towns in Mexico are completely corrupted by the drug cartels. Tijuana is just over the border from San Diego. Laughably, Mexico has gun control laws.

Wasn’t there a guy in TX a few years back that missed a turn and ended up in Mexico ?? He had a gun rack in his pick up and Mexico was probably going to toss him in jail to never be heard from again. Hussein was President at the time and was going to let the guy rot in Mexico, due to the fact that he had spent time in the US Marine Corp, from what my foggy mind can remember….the guy was only released after a major public outcry.

The national geographic program on the Mexican drug cartels is a story like that of the Medellin and Cali cartels in Columbia, mass murder, corruption and injustice. I’m amazed the president of Mexico hasn’t declared martial law and just begun the mass execution of drug cartel members and their associated street gangs — possibly because he or maybe his military have already been compromised by the drug cartels.

When I was coaching in El Paso a guy from Montana or somewhere in the northwestern US made a wrong turn into Juarez.
The cops found a spent shell casing and impounded his pickup overnight. When he went to retrieve it, the stereo and other items were missing, while it was in the impoundment lot.
Since the cartels started using those crooked cops for target practice, they’ve cleaned up their act.

I remember reading some ten years ago about some US border control officers who went over the hill into Mexico — possibly because there ties to Mexican drug cartels had been or were about to be uncovered in the US.

So who is committing most of the “gun violence”? Oh, I forgot, it’s the Black and Brown individuals “in our cities”. Republican Sen. Marco Rubio reintroduced a bill last week that threatens to prevent innocent people from obtaining guns and strengthen the federal government’s firearm overreach.
Rubio’s office markets the “Terror Intelligence Improvement Act” as granting law enforcement access and extra authority over “suspected terrorists while safeguarding law-abiding citizens’ Second Amendment and due process rights” through consolidation of information about potentially “dangerous individuals.” The proposed legislation, however, actually enables the federal government to delay or limit an American citizen’s attempted firearm purchase if they were the subject of a federal terrorism investigation dating back 10 years.
(Considering how they view Trump supporters as “terrorists” and it’s SUBJECTIVE….you will be their target…. and good luck with defending yourself in this political climate.)

Individuals, the legislation states, do not have to be guilty for the FBI director and the Joint Terrorism Task Force to be alerted when they attempt to purchase or receive a transferred firearm. The U.S. attorney general is also notified and retains the power to stall the process for up to 10 business days and file an emergency petition to halt the gun procedure until a court can rule on it as long as the individual is notified. The transfer or purchase can then be completely shut down and the person arrested if a court finds “probable cause” suggesting the individual was or even may be potentially involved in terrorism.

Rubio unsuccessfully tried to pass this legislation in previous legislative terms dating back to 2016, but the bill ultimately failed to gain traction with his Republican and Democratic colleagues. Despite his professed loyalty to the Republican platform, previously advocating against government overreach, Rubio has shifted his position on gun control numerous times, often receiving backlash from other Republicans.

The Republican senator also recently introduced another gun control bill seeking to “provide family members of an individual who they fear is a danger to himself, herself, or others, or law enforcement, with new tools to prevent gun violence.” The legislation currently has three co-sponsors, Democratic Sen. Jack Reed of Rhode Island, Independent Sen. Angus King of Maine, and Republican Sen. Rick Scott of Florida.

Has anyone ever noticed that in all the discussions about “weapons of war” available on the open market, it all centers on AR models but completely ignores the bolt action Springfield 1903 and M-1 Garand, our primary infantry weapons in the previous world wars, both chambered in 30-06.
My semi-automatic Garand is just like the one I used for rifle training in US Navy boot camp in ’68.

Once upon a time rocks were considered an assault weapon along with sticks. Then long pointy poles called spears. Further along came sharp clam shells, knives, clubs, bow and arrow, catapult, cross bow, trebuchet, rockets and firearms, artillery, planes dropping bombs, more advanced hand guns and rifles. Everything at one point in time was considered a weapon of war. Assault weapons if you will. So let’s ban everything that is pointy or can be used to hurt or kill someone. Ban knives, cars, bee bee guns, baseball bats, nails, and so on. And of course have Washington DC surrounded by a 12 foot fence plus 28.000 soldiers armed with actual weapons of war to protect the special people who also have well armed body guards.
Does Biden, or Democrats in general understand the first and second amendments? I suppose not. First thing dictators do is disarm the people and shut them up.

That is why they are attacking the Second Amendment. An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject.
According to Marbury vs. Madison 1893, any infringement to the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, is null and void. The perverts are preying on your ignorance, to go along with their “laws”. If it isn’t Constitutional, it isn’t law.
