Multiple Medical Journals Refuse To Run Results of LARGEST MASK STUDY

129

The researchers behind a large and unique Danish study on the effect of wearing a mask are having great difficulties in getting their research results published. “One of the participating professors in the study admits that the still secret research result can be perceived as ‘controversial.’”

The study will be published “as soon as a journal is brave enough.”

The results counter the lies of the Democrat criminal syndicate.

Story continues below advertisement

The study has been rejected by the Lancet, the New England Journal of Medicine, and the American Medical Association’s journal JAMA, three of the publications that have been posting much of the research on coronavirus.

The CDC, prior to changing its position on universal mask-wearing, had previously cited ten randomized controlled trials that showed “no significant reduction in influenza transmission with the use of face masks.” Now, the CDC and other elite institutions would have us believe that coronavirus is somehow different.

The Danes were the first to actually study the effect of large-scale universal mask-wearing specifically against the spread of COVID-19. (more)

Multiple journals reject major mask study amid hints that it shows masks don’t stop COVID

Results will be published “as soon as a journal is brave enough,” researcher says.

By: Daniel Payne, JTN, October 25, 2020:

A major study out of Denmark that sought to examine the efficacy of face masks at limiting the spread of COVID-19 has reportedly been rejected by multiple academic journals amid hints that the study found face coverings are not effective in protecting individuals from the coronavirus.

Masks have been among the most persistent and controversial flashpoints of the COVID-19 epidemic for months. Health officials around the world initially argued strongly against their use, claiming that studies over the years had demonstrated that masks were ineffective at stopping respiratory viruses and unnecessary for the current pandemic.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, for example, told CBS’ “60 Minutes” in March: “Right now, in the United States, people should not be walking around with masks.”

Growing concerns over a purportedly high rate of asymptomatic spread of COVID-19 led many of those same officials, including Fauci, to reverse their recommendations, urging people to wear masks whenever they go out in public.

Reflecting the new public sentiment on masks, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention urges Americans to “wear masks in public settings, like on public and mass transportation, at events and gatherings, and anywhere they will be around other people.”

Mandates by governors and national leaders over the past several months have further enforced those conclusions, with many public leaders issuing orders for citizens to don face coverings while in grocery stores, on public transport, and even in open outdoor areas such as public parks.

Danish study has reportedly been ready for months

In spite of their now-ubiquitous presence in most of the Western world today, relatively little evidence exists to support widespread use of face-masking to prevent the spread of respiratory disease. A 2019 World Health Organization review of pandemic mitigation measures, for instance, found “no evidence” that face coverings helped to stop the spread of influenza.

Whether or not studies on influenza transmission can apply to COVID-19 is unknown; the disease’s relatively recent emergence means that scientific studies on it are in short supply. Studies can take many month to secure funding, develop methodologies, carry out experiments, interpret the findings, write a research paper and get it peer-reviewed and published.

To bridge that gap, a team of Danish scientists earlier this year sought to carry out a major randomized controlled trial study to determine how effective masks might be at stopping COVID transmission. The study, begun in April, involved around 6,000 Danish citizens, half of whom wore face coverings during “normal behavior” and the other half of whom went without them.

The study concluded in June. Yet the Copenhagen newspaper Berlingske reported this week that it has been rejected by at least three elite medical journals so far — the Lancet, the New England Journal of Medicine, and JAMA, the Journal of the American Medical Association.

“They all said no,” Christian Torp-Pederson, one of the study’s researchers, told the Danish newspaper this week. He added that the study’s scientists “cannot start discussing what [the journals] are dissatisfied with, because in that case we must also explain what the study showed, and we do not want to discuss that until it is published.”

Study will be published ‘as soon as a journal is brave enough’

The paper’s lack of publication thus far is not, on its face, unheard of. Peer review — the process by which independent experts analyze, criticize and edit scientific papers prior to publication in official journals — can take several months or more from start to finish.

Yet there have been indications that the study may be ruffling feathers among medical officials and researchers, with some of the study’s directors suggesting, cryptically, that its results may run against the grain of current public orthodoxy on mask usage.

Responding to a query last week about when the study will be published, one of its researchers — University of Copenhagen infectious disease Professor Thomas Benfield — replied: “As soon as a journal is brave enough to accept the paper.”

Benfield in a later interview with Berlingske warned against taking that quote “out of context,” stating: “The article is being reviewed by a respected journal.”

Benfield confirmed to Just the News that the study “is going through peer review,” and he called the process “not unusual.”

Another one of the study’s authors, Christian Torp-Pedersen, told the Copenhagen newspaper that he “might also have dared to go as far as Benfield” regarding Benfield’s response. Asked by the paper if the study’s results could be considered “controversial,” he said: “That’s how I want to interpret it.”

Questioned by the paper further on whether or not the study might demonstrate “no significant effect of mask use,” he replied: “I think that’s a very relevant question you are asking.”

Another one of the study’s authors, Henrik Ullum, wrote on Twitter this week that the study’s researchers are “very unhappy about the delay of our study.”

“We never anticipated this delay,” he continued, adding: “The peer review process is important to secure correct scientific conclusions for this sensitive research question.”

Supporters say masks can save tens of thousands of lives

Neither Torp-Pedersen nor Ullum responded to queries from Just the News about the study and its delay. None of the three journals that allegedly rejected it, meanwhile, were willing to comment on the matter either.

Lancet spokeswoman Jessica Kleyn told Just the News that the journal “does not comment on papers it has not published.”

NEJM spokeswoman Julia Morin responded that the journal’s publication process “is confidential, and we cannot confirm or deny anything about any manuscripts not published in NEJM.”

JAMA did not respond to queries.

Last month, several academics out of Harvard, Stanford and George Washington University published a letter critical of the Danish study’s methodology. Providing what might be interpreted as further evidence that the study’s results challenge the efficacy of masking, these critics argued that inherent design flaws in the study — including possible noncompliance factors within both the control and study groups — could unfairly skew the results in favor of non-mask usage.

The study “poses a serious risk of mistranslation” due to concerns that “null or too-small effects will be misinterpreted to mean that masks are ineffective,” the writers stated. The academics warned policy-makers against “interpreting the results of this trial as being anything other than artifacts of weak design.”

Proponents of masks have argued that widespread usage of face coverings will significantly reduce COVID-19 caseloads and death tolls. The University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation said in a paper published this week that “universal mask use” could prevent an additional 129,574 deaths throughout the United States by February.

Conversely, numerous countries across the world that have mandated the use of face masks in public have recently seen infection rates soar. Both Germany and Spain, for instance, have had mask mandates in place for months, yet both countries have seen recent sharp resurgences in new COVID-19 cases over the last several weeks.

As soon as someone is brave enough? What that usually means, because most journals and magazines are owned by the alt left liberal scum of the earth, is that they found that masks do relatively NOTHING, and that is unacceptable to the alt left scum of the earth, who demand that they be worn constantly(and some people want them worn round the clock.) That is their agenda. If it spits in the face of their agenda, they have no interest in putting the truth out there.

the cloth mask filter 90% of particules bigger than 3 micrometers according to the French AFNOR for standards.

the sars-cov-2 virus in aerosolized form is 0.1 micrometer in size. So cloth masks are unable to filter the virus. The virus is 30 times smaller than the filter !

the surgical masks are mostly not particle filters, they are useful to resist a flow of liquid to go through the mask. Some masks are both surgical and particle filter but the filtering depends on the quality of the product (filter 30% to 80% of particles). So it is not reliable as a protection against viruses.

At best, the surgical mask can slow down the speed of the air someone is sneezing or coughing. But in a closed space, the virus will spread all around the room anyway. So the mask is almost useless.

Then you have the particle filter, the common ones are filtering 95% of particles, some 99,97%. Example : 3M N95 hospital masks. They are efficient if they are fit tight on the face but sadly they will leave bruises on the face.

The study is probably giving this kind of conclusions.

thank you, that’s pretty interesting, yet sars-cov-1 but even with a N95 mask you are at risk of breathing virus particles, especially face-to-face. probably less particles but still many. So one needs to stay away from a person known to be seropositive. So I am not that safe with KN95 masks!

Refusing to publish is all we need to know …

… to know the outcome of the study …

… and to determine is veracity and quality …

If the study showed an overwhelming advantage for mask wearing – contradicting numerous smaller studies – and alerting us to an important new finding in mitigation efforts stopping a flu-like virus …

… the study would be heard around the world …

… anthropologists would be employed to carry the news into the darkest regions of Africa, South America, and Papua New Guinea …

But the ‘silence’ is deafening … meaning that this study CONFIRMS previous studies showing masks are largely ineffective against flu-like viruses.

PS … cases are soaring … not infections … not fatalities … not hospitalizations …

Given the guidance in Texas – issued 21 Jun 20 following the CDC’s revision of guidance for assigning cases and codes …

… I’m surprised we don’t all have Covid-1984 …

… I’m sure that’s true everywhere in the USA …

… and any nation subject to the Left’s policy of lying or China’s propaganda campaigns behind the scenes …

Meanwhile – Covid-1984 has cured the common cold – influenza, rhinoviruses, other coronaviruses – and pneumonia both stand-alone and with co-morbidities …

Yes. It’s entirely possible. We do not have – as of now – any information on exactly what the PCR tests are set to test. (And I’m certain the protocols on these tests are complex just to ensure the tests measure what’s sampled – much less to determine what part of what’s sampled is selected as a ‘positive’ … so it’s really a wonder if these tests test anything.)

… so not only could it be ‘new’ … they could be setting the test targets to ‘existing’ coronaviruses or flus or rhinoviruses to catch the new variations of these diseases which always reoccur.

All we have to say otherwise … is their word for it.

Agreed. Mask mandates are nothing more than a social experiment to see how far the general public can be bullied and manipulated before more drastic measures are tried and people begin to snap, measures like gun control or confiscation.

Statistics are like a prostitute, you can do with them just about anything you wish.

Gun control means using both hands when you fire.

According to DEMS, even the CCP virus is racist –

Oregon county orders
whites to wear masks but
says black people can be exempt
June 24, 2020 | Samantha Chang

However, the health officials said
“people of color” don’t have to wear masks because of “heightened concerns about racial profiling and harassment due to wearing face coverings in public.”

Trevon Logan, a black professor at Ohio State University, claimed that orders to wear face coverings are “basically telling people to look dangerous, given racial stereotypes that are out there.”

https://www.bizpacreview.com/2020/06/24/oregon-county-orders-whites-to-wear-masks-but-says-black-people-can-be-exempt-938443

Eventually seven counties adopted this policy for “people of color” against white people.

This stuff reminds me of the current anti-smoking ads (I’m for quitting smoking, BTW) that are saying the smoking manufacturers are racist in that they are targeting (with menthols) POCs. To me, that would be insulting, in that I, or any other POC would also be concerned about health risks over a perceived racism.

That’s what we white people get for failing to force the police to stop killing Black people. I stated above in an earlier post that there’s far more potential damage from shutting people in and forcing them to go broke than there is from the virus because they probably have a better chance with the virus than they do starting over from an alley because they went broke after the government wouldn’t let them work. I believe this because I went broke and had to start over from an alley and that’s when I figured out that the police treat you completely differently when you’re a disadvantaged member of society. That’s when I realized that the vicious behaviors that the Black community accuse the police of engaging are very likely true in many cases. By far, the worst criminals I met while homeless were the police. They treated same like animals in some situations for no lawful reason at all. They aren’t all that way but they do tend to put on an entirely different face when you aren’t a member of the ordinary public. And being innocent is absolutely no protection against the ones that do. For them, false arrest is just an easy way to get credit for an arrest to meet quota and the homeless are the easiest to convict on their perjured testimony alone, which is usually all the evidence they have. They stay away from arresting for crimes that might require real evidence that would be hard to manufacture.

I’m a year behind you but have COPD. Otherwise, I would have your attitude. I did almost my entire life, part of my problem now. It’s on a case by case basis. If you’re healthy and have the guts, go live large. If your not, stay home. The Democrats mainly just want to make Trump look wrong but they want to overcontrol the situation with a one size fits all that doesn’t fit anybody worth a damn. People who aren’t at risk just need to remember to show courtesy to those that are by keeping their distance. Some can remember, others still can’t figure it out.

sorry to hear about your health Earl. I differ with you about where we go from here. The world will get to back to normal quickly if, unfortunately for you, people like you stay home for a while longer or accept the risk of being out. The fact is that normal life in the world will subject people to this virus for a while, and we can’t continue having business afraid of being sued by the democrat trial lawyers is someone comes down with this virus. we can’t have the unfortunate unhealthy few governing our behavior anymore.

I wasn’t clear in my final opinion. I’m all in favor of busting it open and letting people work and function again. Not doing so will injure more people than the disease if we don’t. People that want everyone to stay home are mostly housewives turned politicians who’ve never had to worry about what happens when you run out of money. I know, I’ve gone broke, and I would take a virus over that any day of the week. Your chances are probably much better with the virus than they are starting over from an alley because the government wouldn’t let you work.

let’s recount the facts of 2020. the 4-year democrat impeachment hoax imploded in february, and one week later the virus hoax was launched by the democrats with the assistance of their ally communist china. the deep state was all prepared for the hoax by scaring all the low IQ folks, and the democrats burned down our house in a last ditch attempt to oust trump. when this was clearly running out of fuel, they launched the racial hoax and poured gasoline on the fire, aided and abeted by the low IQ people who play college and professional sports. despite all this, trump will win, and I hope the next day he morphs into the man that his base has been waiting for over the last 4 years, which would look something like attilla the hun when it comes to what he does with the democrats in this country.

It is easy top see people no longer think for themselves. Everything is overhyped today. Even the weather report. I actually got a beeping on my phone for a severe weather alert. Supposed to snow a little bit and we have received nothing, although it is snowing quite a few miles north. and they don’t say it is going to rain or it is going to snow. We now have a “rain event” or a “snow event” . Years ago people sold tickets to events but I doubt many would pay money to see it rain or snow.

The masks may not stop Covid transmission but they certainly reduce the chances of it being transmitted. True lots of the masks people wear are not the N-95 masks that hospital workers wear but why do hospital workers wear masks if the masks are not protective?

Surgery rooms are very sterile. It is an extra precaution to protect the patient from surgeon germs. The patient has to use a surgical soap before having surgery. The soap commonly recommended is Hibiclens. It’s like getting a chemical peel. It’s an over the counter product that a hospital will give you on a pre-op appointment.

The virus is .04 microns. Any mask will only protect you from .01 microns and does nothing to stop it from being transmitted. For the most part, masks do not protect you unless you let someone sneeze all over you with large droplets

Masks for public use do more harm than good – especially for older people. People wearing masks still get the CCP virus! Allot of hospital employees working with CCP virus people wear plastic shields because masks are inadequate

Back in ’07, when I started picking up houses … nice suburban areas, but 0 down financing put people in homes they could NOT afford. Not be a long stretch.

You cannot believe how the people that had been foreclosed on, for not having made a mortgage payment in over three years (kid you not, in some instances it took over five years to get them out) had left the properties. Concrete mix poured down plumbing, wiring ripped out of the walls, leaving the second room bath water running for days in order to flood the entire house. I bought quite a few like that.

Needless to say, there was a great deal of drywall replacement and repair. So, I was constantly sanding joint compound. A drywall mask isn’t a N-95, but they keep out most of the particles. One day, my wife saw some super deal on surgical masks … something like fifty for five bucks. So, being the cost-conscious type she picked some up.

They filtered out next to nothing. When removing even a drywall mask, the area behind the mask wasn’t all covered with dust. However, with a surgical mask, other than the strap area, you couldn’t even tell that you had worn a mask. And, talk about coughing up lumps and chunks for the next few days ….

Wearing a knit mask, bandana, or surgical type mask is only VIRTUE SIGNALING.

The masks do nothing. As stated in another post, the virus particles are several times smaller than the porous holes in the masks that people are wearing. Thus, they are useless. It’s been said (by doctors) over and over that the overwhelming majority of healthy people do not need masks.

At 1000 deaths per day, the virus kills 365,000 people a year. Heart disease killed over 600,000 last year and that’s probably an avoidable disease for most people. Cancer killed over 500,000. Doctors purportedly kill about 250,000 with malpractice but some estimates are higher than COVID at 1000/day. Maybe we should promise the doctors we’ll do everything they say if they’ll agree not to try and treat us. That should get us close to breaking even.

The CDC admitted on their own web site, the virus alone was responsible for just 6% of covid-related deaths. This means that at the time it was published, there have been approximately 9000 deaths (in the U.S.) directly related to covid. So, the death numbers (consantly pushed by mainstream media), mean nothing.

Are you saying covid wasn’t present at all or are you saying it was but the final cause of death listed was something else. Covid patients often die of respiratory failure brought on by pneumonia but that doesn’t mean that covid should be ignored as the rightful cause of death in those cases because they wouldn’t be dead if they hadn’t caught covid first.

The CDC (the entity everyone relied on from the beginning for info) admitted that 6% of all deaths reported were attributable to covid alone. This means, the 200,000, or whatever number they are reporting today, did NOT die from covid alone. Those patients you speak of, most likely all had pre-existing commorbities. They died “with” covid, as opposed to died “from” covid. Big difference and part of the deception.

Yeah, ok, I’m always approaching it from the point of trying to figure the risk to ME with COPD but healthy people are better served ascertaining their risk from your 6% number. As of today at worlometers dot info, USA total deaths = 230,888, USA total cases=8,943,710, average case fatality rate for all cases = d/c = .025816 and case fatality rate from covid alone would be .06 * .025816 = .00154896. Since that’s an average over the entire pandemic period for the US, it reflects the average treatment effectiveness over that period so with presumably more effective treatment becoming available over time, we could expect our chances would be at least that good today if we catch covid and don’t have any pre-existing conditions.
So, healthy people have an historic average risk of death of 1 in (1/.00154896) = 1 in 646 meaning
If they could catch covid 646 times, they would be expected to die 1 time total or
If 646 healthy people caught covid, 1 would die.
But that’s an average risk for all healthy people which we know is influenced by age so the younger ones would be lower than that and the older ones higher than that.
The numbers should actually be even better because that’s based on average treatment effectiveness over the life of the pandemic, not current treatment effectiveness which is presumably better.

That obviously doesn’t justify shutting very much of anything down except maybe the nursing homes that negligently kill their guests or the governors that force them to. Most people with pre-existing conditions are old enough to understand their situation and, with reasonable social support and cooperation, should be able to weather the storm safely if they’re willing to protect themselves by isolation, PPE, or both.

Yes, none of this justifies locking down healthy people. And those at risk, have a real good chance of survival if given the right treatment, etc. The threat is nowhere near what we are told it is. And people need to see the masks for what they are. Useless!

There were not as many actual Covid deaths as reported, not even CLOSE!

So they were virus free but still listed as having died of the virus. That sounds like the medical community cashing in on the federal dollars. That’s standard procedure for same when Medicare and Medicaid represent easy money for whatever procedure they care to diagnose that keeps them in Lexuses (sp) so I don’t doubt it but it’s doing a huge disservice to the community to play those old tricks this time. Then again, hard to make a crook give up old habits.

BTW, are you using albuterol by any chance because I’ve been getting fatigue and irregular heartbeat so I went to my GP who confirmed erratic heartbeat with pulseox while walking and sent me to cardiologists. The GPs’s EKG showed possible previous heart attack but the Cardio showed only A-Fib so he set me up for tests. In the mean time, I found that albuterol can cause A-Fib which is in my emergencey inhaler for COPD but GP gave me a script for Trelegy for the COPD and now that’s all I’m using because it worked so well. If you have COPD, check into it because it’s the only once a day powder with all three COPD drugs combined and I rarely hit the albuterol now, it’s that good.

Intelligence Community Statement on Origins of COVID-19

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Office of the Director of National Intelligence today issued the following Intelligence Community (IC) statement:

“The entire Intelligence Community has been consistently providing critical support to U.S. policymakers and those responding to the COVID-19 virus, which originated in China. The Intelligence Community also concurs with the wide scientific consensus that the COVID-19 virus was not manmade or genetically modified.

Chinese virologist: China’s government ‘intentionally’ released COVID-19
‘I work[ed] in the WHO reference lab, which is the top coronavirus lab in the world’

https://www.foxnews.com/media/chinese-virologist-government-intentionally-coronavirus

The Chinese government intentionally manufactured and released the COVID-19 virus that led to mass shutdowns and deaths across the world, a top virologist and whistleblower told Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Tuesday.

Carlson specifically asked Dr. Li-Meng Yan whether she believed the Chinese Communist Party released the virus “on purpose.” “Yes, of course, it’s intentionally,” she responded on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

Merely wearing a mask is not a good criterion for a test.

1) Did they wear the mask properly, covering nose and mouth without air leaking through gaping holes?
I have seen all manner if improper wear – covering mouth only is most common.
2) Did they change masks with each use?
Reusing masks invites infection. The mask filtration is contaminated and when “stored” for the next use the virus has a chance to migrate in the moisture to the inside surfaces. Xi.s Disease virus takes several days to “die” while with flu it hours.
3) Did they carefully avoid touching their face at all while in a mask wearing situation?
Consider your hands to be contaminated. Touching your face under the mask transfers that contamination into your nose. Rubbing your eyes transfers it into your nose (and brain) as well as your eyes. I’ve seen all manner of face rubbing or touching actions.
4) Did they wash hands “early and often”?
Not washing hands before and after doffing the mask is a good way to transfer contamination from your hands to your face and from there to eyes, nose, and mouth.

Did the study consider “outbound” as well as “inbound” protection? You become extremely contagious before muchin the way of symptoms appear. That way if you become infected at least you’re being courteous enough to attemptto mitigate your ability to infect others.

It should be noted that Asian countries have been using masks for years. It is a standard measure to prevent spread, outbound as well as inbound. And I note that Taiwan, Thailand, and pre take-over Hong Kong did really well compared to us. South Korea has done much better than us but not as spectacularly as others. Are westerners that much different from Asians that masks work for them and not for us?

I’d be careful about using this study as an excuse to not wear a mask. There are too many uncontrolled variables in it. The biggest is whether or not the participants actually wore the masks correctly and used other measures to avoid negating the mask protection by transferring infections from the contaminated surfaces to their faces. It’s as sloppy as the study that declared HCQ does not work. Think about that then make your own decisions. *I* am sticking with the masks even as I hate them. I’m 76 and if I get it I have a VERY high percentage chance of dying.

The issue is whether this should be mandated for ALL people regardless of age or health status.
If you want to wear a mask then go ahead and do it.
But don’t mandate it and force everyone else to do the same!

At 76 you have a relatively high chance of dying under all circumstances.
Guess what? We all have a higher chance of dying every year that we live.

So why work overtime to increase your risk of dying? And of course no mandate should be issued. It should be a recommendation with explicit authorization for store and venue owners to enforce it for their facilities. Outside the facilities, pull your mask off if you want to accept the risk. I don’t care. Darwin will improve the species.

Wearing a mask does not decrease your risk of acquiring CV19 and CV 19 only kills 1 to 3 people out of 1000 who get it AND 94% of the people who die have 2.5 other diseases present – and that is for ALL age groups. So unless you have obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and other heart disease your chances for dying from CV19 are the same as those of dying from the common cold.

Think about it:
1. You never see virologists on TV wearing masks. Why not???? The answer is because these masks do not stop viral transmission. You need a hazmat suit to do that and that is what they wear – not masks!
2. Read the disclaimer on these masks. Regardless of the manufacturer they all state first that the mask is NOT PPE and second they state that the mask DOES NOT prevent the transmission of viruses. They then go on the clarify that it DOES NOT interfere with the transmission of CV19. (The FDA classifies masks as Class II devices. It is the FDA that states they are NOT PPE.)

The first study looking at the effectiveness of masks in preventing transfer of bacteria (not viruses which are 100 times smaller) during surgery was not done until 1980 and it showed MORE infections in patients when doctors wore masks!!!! Since then there have been numerous studies and NOT ONE has ever shown a decrease in infection when masks were worn.

I assure you that I am very familiar with the medical literature on masks. If you care to even look it up you will see that this virus is 0.1 micron. The smallest pore size in these masks, including the N95 is 0.4 micron. The virus passes THROUGH the mask! And an air tight fit is not possible! That is why the virologists you see on TV are NOT wearing these unhygenic things.

I am sure that it really pisses you off that since this started I have not worn one and am still alive and well. I am sure it really pisses you off that President Trump and his wife have not died. I am sure that you are pissed off over the fact that 99.9% of all people who do get it LIVE! And BTW those are exactly the same statistics that have been reported for the past 50 years for death from the common cold. And who dies from the common cold???? The frail elderly, the immunosuppressed and the chronically ill.

Wearing these masks is comparable to wearing a used Kleenex over your face all day.

The other issue that has received little attention is the fact that they contain microplastics, which will be chronically inhaled by the wearer, which may cause lung disease comparable to asbestosis or silicosis; and will pollute the environment and kill a lot of fish. Masks were never intended to be worn all the time.

Interesting you say that. My husband went for neuropsychiatric testing this AM and I was told that I was required to go too as the psychologist would have questions for me. I filled out all of the paper work and then was called in by the PhD psychologist. After getting into his office he sat about 6 to 8 feet away from me and asked me to put on a mask. I pointed out to him that the medical literature is very clear that these masks do not impair this virus and that they all have a disclaimer stating as much. He said that he knew that but that this was the hospital policy. (Of course there was no hospital rep in the room forcing him to comply with something he admitted made no sense). He then said that it was his personal policy too and then got up to accompany me out of his office. Great isn’t it when an alleged educated mental health professional can openly admit that these masks are useless to accomplish the goal for which they are being used but then insist that it is his policy too and lead me out of the office without the interview for my husband’s benefit. This is in spite of the fact that I have no respiratory symptoms and the fact that according to JAMA “masks are only to be worn by people with respiratory symptoms and NOT by healthy people.”

It was his personal policy too. Very telling. Then again, can we really rely on the medical advice from a PhD psychologist. Suddenly everyone wearing masks are epidemiologists and virologists?
