Bloomberg pays fines for 32,000 felons in Florida so they can vote

Billionaire Michael Bloomberg has reportedly raised more than $16 million in an effort to help convicted felons in Florida register to vote.
Story continues below advertisementThe Florida Rights Restoration Coalition estimated Bloomberg’s fundraising push has already paid off monetary obligations for 32,000 felons, Axios reported.
“The right to vote is fundamental to our democracy and no American should be denied that right,” a Bloomberg spokesperson told the news outlet. “Working together with the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition, we are determined to end disenfranchisement and the discrimination that has always driven it.”
Florida passed a law in 2018 reinstating voting rights for felons that dictated they could register only if they pay all fines, fees and restitution — sometimes totaling more than $1,000 — owed to the government.
Florida’s 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals last week ruled to uphold the law.Last week, several television networks also pledged to donate money to the cause.
Bloomberg, who ran in the Democratic primary for president, has endorsed the party’s nominee, Joe Biden, and has donated at least $100 million to the former vice president’s campaign to defeat President Trump

3 years agoTo me Bloomberg has made it look like the democrats are running scared. I mean really, to feel it necessary to pay off the felons debts so they can vote.
Maybe Bloomberg can see that what the democrats have been doing has caused them to lose a lot of the black, white, Hispanic, as well as Catholic voters.
Without the illegals, the felons and the mail in votes; this year they would probable have the least votes in the history of the democrat party.
I don’t think even Bloomberg can bring them back. I think what George Soros has done has really taken the dems down and then they’ve been dumb enough to praise the rioters. But they thought it was time to come out in the open as they must have thought that by their brainwashing the younger generation, they could fool everyone. I think they’ve fooled themselves more than others.
I think they’ve done a better job brainwashing themselves for it appears that everyone else, and in time the younger generation too, will wake up to all the harm the dems have and are trying to do even to their own voters.

3 years agoThe whole purpose of a fine is to require the FELON to sacrifice and return to society a payment for HIS Crimes, Mistakes, whatever. When Mr. Social Activist Rich Kid, Bloomberg pays it off for him; what’s taking place in the FELONS Mind? All through his life the good hearts have picked him up, Social Service, good hearted judges for the first X-number of crimes he committed before being sentenced to do time, the DA agreeing to cut a deal to save time and money, and NOW Mr. Foolish Rich Kid positioning himself for something in 2024. The Felon didn’t have to put any energy into repaying Society or the victim. The victim doesn’t really want Mr. Bloomberg to repay the restoration. They want to see the GUILTY PARTY repay it since he caused it to happen. I hope you read this Mr. Bloomberg, maybe then you’ll understand why the Mascot the Democrats is a Jack-Ass.

3 years agoOne of the things we were taught about law when we were children many decades ago is that when you decide to commit a felony you permanently give up your right to vote. I do possess enough grace to believe that some few former felons who have rehabilitated their lives probably should be under consideration for having their voting rights restored., especially in those cases in which someone was wrongly convicted. But not this way. Money shouldn’t be attached to this privilege at all if it is given. Democrats will do anything to buy votes. As far as I am concerned no decent person would even want their names attached to this political party. I know plenty of very good people who are. They keep waiting for the Democrat Party to become more in line with what it used to be. Never going to happen. Indeed, I always thought Democrats were fundamentally Socialists.

Then there is the issue of his paying the debts and what will he get in return? Is there an agreement or condition that they will vote Democrat? Was the agreement or condition spoken or implied? Isn’t the what is called bribery or paying for a vote? Oh wait! That is the definition of bribery and paying for a vote.
