A&E’s Ratings Nose-Dive After Network Bows To Mob Pressure To Cancel ‘Live PD’

Story continues below advertisementCable television ratings for A&E Network have plummeted since it canceled the hit police reality show, “Live PD” on June 10, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Following the death of George Floyd and riots led by “Black Lives Matter” across the country, A&E Network capitulated to demands to cancel the law enforcement show saying in a statement:
“This is a critical time in our nation’s history and we have made the decision to cease production on Live PD. Going forward, we will determine if there is a clear pathway to tell the stories of both the community and the police officers whose role it is to serve them. And with that, we will be meeting with community and civil rights leaders as well as police departments.”
The woke move turned out to be a devastating financial mistake. Average prime-time viewership for A&E between June 11 and July 19 of this year was 498,000 people, which is down 49 percent from the same period last year. Additionally, for key demographics of adults 18-49 and 25-54, the declines are 55 percent and 53 percent, respectively. Before A&E pulled the show, its prime-time viewership was up 4 percent from the same period in 2019.
Ironically, the show promoted police transparency, one of the reforms championed by BLM and others, by following officers on their rounds in cities across the country. “Live PD” averaged about 1.9 million viewers for its Friday and Saturday night episodes and re-aired episodes on other days. It inspired several successful spinoff shows, which A&E also canceled.
When you include the now-canceled sister shows of Live PD, “Live PD: Police Patrol” and “Live PD Presents: PD Cam,” the Live PD universe accounted for more than 85 percent of A&E’s daily programming.
In 2019, the “Live PD” empire brought in $292.6 million in advertising, according to ad-tracking firm Kantar Media. For the first quarter of 2020, the programs sold $95.8 million in advertising.
A&E told the Journal they expected this “temporary hit in the ratings” given the success of “Live PD” and that it has been mostly replaced by reruns. The network expressed its confidence in being able to “find new hits and reinvent ourselves.”
“Live PD” fans, self-named “Live PD Nation,” have been actively encouraging a boycott of A&E until “Live PD” and it’s spin-offs return to the network.
Last month, Paramount Network canceled “Cops,” another police reality show following officers. There are even cries to cancel “Paw Patrol”, one of the most popular kids cartoons of our day, a show about six pups including Chase, a German Shepherd police dog. The show’s intent, according to Nickelodeon, is to promote safety, heroism, and show children what it’s like to work together with a team. However, critics expressed concern about the positive image of law enforcement projected by the kids animated series.
Networks and production companies have become hyper-aware of their portrayal of law enforcement since the BLM riots. Media reinforcing positive perceptions of law enforcement are now seen as dangerous by the woke leftist mob’s narrative of systemic racism, particularly regarding criminal justice.
The movement to defund and even abolish police departments has gone from a radical, fringe idea to a culturally acceptable, if not mainstream idea in progressive cities and in the Democratic party.

My guess it has been at least eight or ten years since we dumped cable. Then we went to Netflix and last December dumped them. We are happier from that action and found alternatives.

I quit Netflix when because they put Obummer and Moochle on the payroll to “create new content.” I’ve seen 8 years of their “content” and I wasn’t going to pay each month to see more.
Thousands of people also quit them. So, what did they do? They put the most disgusting of them -Susan -coup – Rice and Valerie Jarrett on the Board. Thousands more quit them.
TBS put out a disgusting racist “ad” last Sunday while I was watching Levin’s show on commercial break. It said: NO LIVES MATTER IF BLACK LIVES DON’T MATTER.” I was enraged. I filed a complain with the FCC. They came back and said they only monitor networks….not streaming. There was no identification on who paid for that ad.
This ad was meant to cause more racism….No one has said Black Lives Don’t Matter….this is designed to make Blacks feel like the Whites think their lives don’t matter.
Throwing fuel on the fire.
The Evil Globalists, Communists, Marxists, and every other kind of low-life “ist” are trying to start a Civil War.
Because as Obama used to say….”there is Opportunity in Chaos.”

I just heard Rush explain that B-L-M was actually a Russian organized group from back in the fifties in the USA. What does the letters stand for?
I keep wandering where all these rioters and looters are getting all these weapons, ammo, explosives, etc.?
Seems to me that there is probably a lot of gun running going on somewhere on our borders – North and South.
Could Holder and Obama be operating another gun running group?

A&E reaped what it had sown. Another media enterprise bowing to the Leftist scourge. They and a myriad of others within the entertainment media are shallow, biased, and overtly anti-cop, but stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the Marxist parasites that are bent on the Republic’s Constitution. The continuous denigration of law enforcement by A&E and copious others is symptomatic of the malignancy within the entire media. These propagators of hatred of law and order, and the men and women who put their lives on the line day-by-day for Americans is repugnant.

….everything we are seeing now has been planned and carefully orchestrated by Obama sitting in his Mansion in sight of the White House and his main funder, George Soros.
I recall Obama saying that he picked that mansion because it is within site of the White House…..so he could “keep and eye on things.”

Indeed, ladywarriror, Obama, as always, is stirring the proverbial pot or plot. His malevolence, and influence hangs heavily over all that is alienating Americans. The never-ending riots by out-and-out anarchist thugs to those of BLM, ANTIFA, all of whom were and continue being enabled and backed by Obama, Soros and his fetid, treasonous party, the faux-Democrats. I always deemed Obama as the antichrist with is tag along evildoing disciples propagating, and acting upon his war on the Republic.

It is really pathetic that the mental giants who run these companies and enterprises lack the intelligence to realize that a small number of highly vocal people represent the majority. At the very least they should have realized that if they had high viewership that had not declined since BLM hit the scene that maybe, just maybe, their fans did not agree with the current agenda. They could have taken a poll among their viewers to determine attitudes.

Not one person who was in on major decisions at A&E are named or pictured. Every decision is made by somebody, and generally the top boss should be able to take the heat instead of hiding behind the company name.
The only thing left to handle these traitors is to crucify them and everyone with whom they collude. Do personal bios on these leaders. Brandish photos of them and their mates in all sorts of venues.
Make sure these people become as well-known as their networks, and only then will we see any improvement in these kinds of situations.
