Portland bans police from working with federal law enforcement

It’s good the American people see how evil the Democrats are.
Nowhere to to run to, nowhere to hide.

Keep it up. Trump doesn’t have to do anything. The deluded left think the Democrat media propaganda will deliver the election. Boy, do they have a reality check coming.

Portland bans police from working with federal law enforcement

Officers who violate the policy may be subject to discipline

By David Aaro | Fox News July 23, 2020:

Portland’s City Council passed new policies on Wednesday that will immediately ban all police bureau members from working with federal law enforcement and prevents them from intentionally arresting or using force on journalists and legal observers.

Commissioner Chloe Eudaly drafted the resolutions that both passed unanimously on Wednesday. The ban on law enforcement cooperation comes from the city council’s belief that “current federal operations in Portland as an unprecedented and unconstitutional abuse of power by the federal government.”

The resolution states that any member of the Portland Police Bureau who “provides, requests, or willingly receives operational support from militarized federal forces” will be subject to discipline. Any federal request for cooperation from the Portland Police Bureau must now be “reported immediately” to the entire city council by email.

The second resolution condemns and prevents police in Portland from arresting or using physical force against journalists and legal observers unless they have reasonable suspicion the person has committed a crime. It follows a judge’s ruling last week that credentialed journalists and legal observers were exempt from arrest or threat by police in the city.

Under the new policy, any member of the Portland Police Bureau who intentionally targets a member of the press during demonstrations in violation of the July 16 court injunction will be subject to discipline. It will remain in place for as long as the judge’s order stays in effect.

“Targeting the press and legal observers is not compatible with American democracy,” the resolution stated. “Portland supports democracy and opposes authoritarianism.”

Portland has experienced weeks of unrest following the police-involved death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, with violence swelling recently amid clashes between protesters and federal agents. The city currently faces numerous lawsuits over the actions of police during demonstrations, which included the use of tear gas and assaults on the press, according to The Oregonian.

Meanwhile, Mayor Ted Wheeler, police officials, and other city leaders have criticized the actions of some protesters who set fires, threw bottles at officers, and vandalized city property, the paper reported.

OH GREAT! The lunatics are actually in control of the city.

How about this, every police officer sides with the feds. Will Portland’s braintrust (I jest) fire each and every one of the police? Then who will protect the homes and the families of the city’s super elite administration?

Everyone should avoid Portland. Defund the city by, if it goes back to normal, not visiting or going there for business. Let the supporters feel what it will be like not to have tourist dollars supporting the city. Maybe people will wake up and vote the administration out.

I agree with you but voting is something for the future and most of the sane people will leave before elections come and in this environment can you trust that there will be a fair election? And if the sane people leave the insane ones will vote the same idiots back into office.

Portland police, refuse to respond to any calls from journalists, “legal observers” whatever the hell they are, and city council members including all their extended families. See how long they remain resolute in their support of the anarchists.

Dammitol, the AntifaBLM thugs are not “anarchists” but outright Fascists. Call them by their rightful name, and treat them accordingly.

“Meanwhile, Mayor Ted Wheeler . . . criticized the actions of some protesters who set fires, threw bottles at officers, and vandalized city property, the paper reported.”

Criticized? Wow, that was bold!

Portland officials are Seditious and Treasonous and can all be arrested using RICO laws.

Someone should whisper that fact to AG Barr so as not to embarrass him!

BTW, the Portland Police could arrest the Portland officials according to their own sworn oath of office! Alas, they all chose to ignore it!

I agree Charlie and cannot figure out why the Trump administration is not being more assertive on this. And yes I know it is because of the optics but I just don’t know what good optic will come along in the near future to give them the courage to take back control of these cities.

These commiecrat mayors and governors have no idea of the real danger they face. Their misguided notion is that, with the “proesters”, they are “brothers under the skin”. They don’t know how wrong they are.

I was stationed at NAS Memphis when April 4, 1969 came around, the one year anniversary of the MLK assassination. That place came apart. The types and degree of human craziness and ugliness exhibited was alarming.

I have never viewed the human animal in the same innocent way ever since.

The veneer of human civilization is paper thin.

Cowardly police deserve the abuse if they follow illegal leftist orders and fail to uphold their sworn oath to defend existing laws and the US Constitution!

Protecting their pensions instead is what I see nationwide.

If America had a federal judiciary that wasn’t full of corrupt deep state marxist jerks this crap of non cooperation with federal law enforcement would be shut down pronto. As it is unelected federal judges are collaborators with the anarchists.

No? We citizens have no power except to elect a Congress and President who will have the power.

….Congress and Trump have wasted 3-1/2 years while allowing it to get worse.

Whether it is bold and calculated measures to deal with the coronavirus, the reopening of the schools or the economy, or confronting the rioters in the streets, the last position any of us should assume is the fetal position.

CharlieSeattle

The ‘fetal position’ is similar to the ‘inaction’ position Congress and Trump has taken for 3-1/2 years.

That tears it. The police should go on strike (get moonlighting jobs as private security guards for the duration), and not return until the *citizens* ask them to.
